I need one since I have a GeForce 6150 but it sucks so I need a new one. I can't afford a 8800 GT so I'm getting a 8600.
-It has to be under $100 -It has to have an SLI connector because I will probably buy another on the in the future -Has to be a PCI express card -Please, don't wast space to mention a card that's crap. I did do a lot of research and I heard that the EVGA GeForce 8600 GTS Graphics Card is good so I'm thinking of getting that but I want to be sure and see if there is a better card out there I'm also thingking of the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS but I don't know. |

HD3870 will shit all over the 8600GT, or 8600GTS. You could even go for an HD3850. Both ATI cards are much better than the 8600GT/GTS.

8600GT vs 3870 vs 9600GT
you can look there on how each one of those does in the selected games and various benchmarks the 8600GT did pretty bad, even 2 of them in SLI still couldnt beat a single 3870 or 9600gt |

So the best one's on the graph are the NVIDIA Geforce 9600 GT and ATI Radeon HD 3870. They were both close but the ATI 3870 stood out with more games but the NVIDIA 9600 did better with games like Mass Effect, Flight Simulator X, Half Life 2 Episode 2, Enemy Territory, and others that I'm too lazy to type.
My question now is, which is better. Does anyone actually tryed theis cards and know for a fact that one is better than the other one? |

I got an e-Geforce 8600 for 50$
After mail in rebate Beats the crap out of my old intergrated video card. That mail in rebates over though. EDIT: Also, you should say what you plan to do with the video card This post has been edited by Diablo1123: Sep 28 2008, 07:48 AM |

Jesus christ.
8600GT is not worth buying. There are much, much better cards in the same price range. How hard is that to understand? |

Pro tip sir...8000 series is on its way out.
Get something from the 9000 series or something from ATI...that crap of "I can't afford that card" will simply stomp on your ass later and when you find out your gaming performance sux, you'll come back to us asking if the 9600 is good. Also, what kind of PC games though? Games that are not old but not not new. Nothing really glorified like Pure, Crysis, and other games like that but I will get Call of Duty 4 and maybe Crysis Warhead(if they say it works well with low end comps) but nothing too fancy. I was playing Hafe Life 2 and saw that my FPS was around 30. My lowest is about 13 and my highest was like 56 but it was mostly around 30. Hope that's enough info. Well the thing about Half-Life 2 is that there are different settings.
I beat Crysis with the settings all on low, medium got a bit laggy. I got 75.61 FPS on the Counter-Strike: Source video stress test on max settings. CODE Model Detail - High Texture Detail - High Shader Detail - High Water Detail - Reflect World Shadow Detail - High Color Correction - Enable Antialiasi Mode - 16xQ CSAA Filtering Mode - Trilinear Wait for Vertical Sync - Enable High Dynamic Range (HDR) - Full (if availiable) 1280x1024 If you want, I can do the Source SDK Base stress test, and post those results, but if I remember correctly, thats the Lost Coast one, and its pretty long.
