So I passed my provisional driving test. Yeah!

Plus I had my 19th Birthday 2 days ago. It worked out pretty well - had a little fire going, barbeque, alcohol, cake, wii etc.

Quite happy, but time to finish homework frown.gif

Laters!

So,

I've been pretty busy and haven't been on temp as much to moderate and chill out, sorry guys.

I've got a few birthdays coming up, including my 19th, which will hopefully go well smile.gif

I went through a semi-breakup again (We are still hanging out as friends. She wants back, but I'm uncertain. We fought again last night.).
I'm not expecting things to recover, at least in the short term, but I'm happy with what I have and will not try to get too caught up again in this unstable relationship. I'm taking it easy and enjoying myself.

I'm slowly saving up a bit from work, but I don't have any big/specific goals I want to spend on. I don't need a car as I can use the old family car, so I'll just keep saving and see if anything props up.
Possibly in the form of electronics - I wouldn't mind a decent phone (mine is very primitive) or media player (I use my DS for this lol). Maybe I should shell our for the DSi? or wait till it gets hacked.

I went on a long driving practice today, in preparation for my Provisional (P's) driving test tomorrow. I hope I won't have any problems, so I can finally have the flexibility of driving unsupervised available to me. Wish me luck.

It's September baby, and I'm a September baby,

See you soon,

Not trying for sympathy, but this is a blog so I'll post my feelings...

I feel like hell, and I've got a huge group presentation due on monday. This isn't good.

I'm going to go to bed even though I need to work.

Hey guys.

I found a cheap Gamecube a while back, so I thought I'd mod it, as a fun project (modding/soldering experience too), even though I can play backups on my wii.
I Subseqently bought a xenogc modchip (almost cost the same as the Gamecube itself).

After much deliberation I got everything set up and soldered it in.

Unfortunately It was quite a difficult job and I think one of the connections didn't bridge properly, ie. It didn't work. After desoldering a resoldering a few times with no success, I lost patience and ripped it off, taking some of the tracks on the DVD board off with it.

I didn't really care at that point so I just had fun disassembling the rest of the system and each individual part, including the dvd drive. Kinda interesting to see how everything fits together.

Essentially, the best physical thing i got out of the $50 odd AUD I spent was a nice brand new gamecube controller (pretty hard to find actually).
Still, it was a fun experience and at least some soldering practice, but I probably wasted too much money.

Oh and I kinda burned a little hole in my finger when I the iron slipped lol.

Laugh or sympathize, but at least enjoy smile.gif

Just some things you might want to be aware of if you're a beginner in the Wii scene.
This is not intended to cover all the details (which you can find via other stickies or searches), its primary intention is to give you a head start.

Dos: (These may protect you or help you recover from a brick)
Install bootmii as boot2 (if possible).
Make a Nand backup (via bootmii, mini or WiiND)
Install Homebrew channel.
Block Updates (via brickblocker, preloader or starpatch)

Don'ts: (These will likely lead you to a brick)
Format your Wii (via settings).
Delete system menu.
Delete any IOS' (especially those used by system menu - IOS9,11,20,30,50,52,60).
Install untested wads/themes without bootmii or preloader installed.
Update system menu without knowing what you may gain/lose.
Downgrade system menu or IOS' (especially If your wii has boot2v4 (aka LU64/65) revision or newer).

Suggestions welcome.
