Wireless transfer will work. Just make sure you have a means of running the hack (either via Luma or HANS and the Homebrew Launcher, non-CFW). Just having the files on your SD card isn't enough.

So I have Luma, FBI, and Homebrew Launcher, but I don't think I have hans. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. The guid on serenes forest says you need hans. ?

If you have Luma, you don't need HANS. Look into Luma's layeredfs for running the hack.

Ok. I think i installed it. How will i know it's installed? I'm on chapter five and all the characters except Lissa/chrom are able to get S support

Not sure if this was already reported but in the F!Robin x Noire in the S support conversation Noire goes "Oh, Robin" regardless of your characters name.

You're only gonna frustrate yourself if you keep trying to get hans+braindump to work properly. You're better of going the Luma3DS route. Follow http://3ds.hacks.guide to set it up. Then come back here and I'll walk you through setting up the hack.

Absolutely. Seems straightforward. I notice that the guide taken all the way through "final setup" has me installing many different programs. Are there any you know I do not need if I'm most likely only ever going to be installing this relatively simple mod and the other corresponding one for Fates?

Alrighty! I have done all the steps in the guide linked, and I also checked previous pages and found HackingToolkit9DS. I grabbed the game file off my cartridge using Godmode9 in .3ds format, sucked out its brain juices, grabbed all the delicious gay I could find in the romfs folder on the 0.3.1 release (Luma folder) and copied it into the ExtractedRomfs folder, setting all the file conflicts to "Replace".

I now have the ability to recombine my file thru Hackingtoolkit into another .3ds file with a name of my choosing, with which I can....do...something.

It seems like from the tutorials I'm reading that the .cia file is the actual playable game, so I grabbed that as well but I can't figure out a way to run the patch on it. I'm going to be poking around the earlier pages to see if my question is answered, but for the moment I appear to be stuck.

Since you have the cartridge or the digital version (I'm assuming this because you were using braindump), you can just place the files on your SD card then run the game. No need to mess with .3ds or .cia files. As for the files you need, do the following:

1. On the root of your SD card, make the following folder structure: luma/titles/<title ID>/romfs.
2. Download the hack and extract it.
3. Navigate to Gay Awakening v0.3.1/Gay_Awakening/V_0.3.1/Luma/00040000000A0500/romfs.
4. Move the data and the m folder to the "romfs" folder that you created in Step 1. Insert your SD card back into your 3DS.
5. Hold down the Select button and then press the Power button.
6. Enable "Enable game patching" then press Start to save your settings.
7. Start your game and start a new save file. Progress to the point to where you can get support conversations. If you see S-Rank on most of the characters, same-sex characters included, then you've installed the hack properly.

It's recommended to use fresh save files with the hack because it can mess with current supports on other save files.

Some characters (Ex: Chrom and Virion) will obtain a support, then I get a "Blank", i.e. they just go to the next level. I saw this with Frederick and Virion, who are supposed to have had their relationship changed from platonic to romantic in 0.2.2. Is this an indicator that something is wrong with the file, or are all supports from C-S just not filled in for everyone? I hope it's the latter.

The first post has a list of what conversations have been added to the hack. Not all characters have received conversations yet. It's much easier to add supports for the character than it is to write out conversations for them. Some of the characters will have blank conversations and that's normal. But if you find that there's a conversation listed in the first post that you aren't seeing in-game, I'd re-extract and recopy the files over again.

Well after many crashes and weird glitches, I'm ready to just ask for help. Has anybody tried to mess with the judgement dialogue in chapter 21? I've been trying to have the special S support dialogue work with F Robin/Father dialogue with M Robin.

Mhmm, it's the latter. I had that issue with Chrom/Cordelia. If you go to Unassuming Venusaur's youtube channel, she has videos with all the convo files linked below

Everything is working wonderfully, thank you. I have this great mod and also the gay marriage mod+japanese undub for Fates now. It made for a great valentines gift. I'll be keeping an eye out for any additional updates to the mod. We had a moment of worry when That Darn Maiden showed up for Chrom's wedding scene, but the game does seem to have correctly coded Lucina and Libra as related.

Despite my best efforts I cannot figure out how to install this. My goal is to install the awakening and/or fates hack on the Citra emulator. Every post I find confuses me with instructions that I can't follow. Is there somewhere or someone who can explain how to install this on Citra?
