my gamepad and wii u pro controller dont work anymore, suddenly at that

My buttons stopped working, I cannot control the menus with my gamepad, or my wii u pro controller, I deleted the emulator and reinstalled it, and deleted my button remap and config files, then even started fresh by erasing the whole retroarch folder, then when loading any of the emulators not just snes9x, this still doesnt do anything seemingly, dpad and analog cant navigate menus, abxy buttons cant select anything, only things that work are the L and ZR buttons which just toggle a blank quick menu, even then i cant go backwards.

my controllers work in regular games and HBL menus, but I can not scroll through menus or do anything once I load up the emulator, Ive played dozens of games on here in this emulator it just seemingly stopped working suddenly. Any idea on what I can do to be able to use emulators again? Is there a way to fully erase all settings that I had that I maybe didnt do? I'm completely lost and confused as to why my emulators no longer work.

Also after reinstlaling my menu looked different, its all white, used to be green, can this be reversed?

Any thoughts?

I use regular Snes9x on homebrew launcher, any help appreciated. I downloaded through the homebrew app store both toniht and when I first started using it.

Have any device/controller plugged into your Wii U USB (not Wii U hdd)?
I assume you are using the latest nightly?

I have whatever is the newest version on the app store, nothing else but hard drive in usb ports, both usb parts are plugged in, same version ive always used which makes it so confusing. no other controllers are connected either

in yellow text it says my gamepad and wii u pro are port #0 and #1 respectively, is there a folder with settings outside the retroarch folder i maybe need to erase?

@rioray @QuarkTheAwesome I'm getting constant 160 memory errors in Neko Project II kai core, the only way to it boot correctly is load another core first, then load NP2kai...

Is it because the recent changes in the code (removing hid)?

It looks like retroarch.cfg has some problems writting the current core, it sometimes keeps the previous core and tries to load content from the selected core but without actually changing the core.

Iirc one of the issues with the retroarch.cfg was that it always saved the core you start with but not the ones it changes to, though this was a long time ago, don't know if that issue could still be there or not or if it was addressed by Quark (I believe it was).

The issue I have is different, it only affects NP2kai it reproduce the bug:

Start RA -> IF last core loaded = NP2kai, then loading NP2kai content result in a 160 memory error.

Start RA -> IF last core loaded =/= NP2kai, then loading NP2kai content works.

Start RA -> IF last core loaded = NP2kai, then loading content other than NP2kai will change the core, if you load NP2kai content again it works.

It only give 160 error when the core is already in the retroarch.cfg

Edit: I'm using lists to load content.

The HID code was what was causing instabilities in recent builds, and will be out until new HID code can be implemented.

Reworded to be clearer:

I have no idea what happened. I can use my emulators on Homebrew Launcher and it is driving me nuts. Dpad and Analog do nothing and i cant navigate the menus. I can hit + or - buttons on the gamepad to highlight the top or bottom if the menu, and hit R to select quit retroarch which works. How can I get my controller working?

I tried:

1. Deleting retroarch.cfg
2. Deleting and reinstalling emulators
3. Restarting console
4. Erasing and making a new retroarch root folder

Nothing works, i tried gamepad and wii u pro controller, neither work, but work in anything else. Any ideas? This has left me completely dumbfounded, last time intouched it it worked fine, and it wasnt used and no internet connection in months and now it doesnt do anythinf

Try reading the op, it doesn't mention the app store anywhere.

I was wondering...does scan directory work on WiiUs retroarch? Will it automatically create playlists?
I guess it does but kinda slowly and just for specific systems.
You should prepare your lists with playlist buddy, seriously. ;)

There's *quite* a lot of stuff here, I might add. Sorry about that! Couldn't post the message because it exceeds the limit of characters, so I uploaded the .txt instead.
I'm sorry, have you already found out a solution? I completely forgot to help you out.

I did try but it buggs everything out so I just gave up.
Im getting black screens with memory error again. Could you pretty please give me a heads up on which config files to delete to completely reset retroarch? :)

I deleted and installed the latest nightly build also, it appeared to have the same issue, controllers dont function in menus :/

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Where do I put the latest rpx after unzipping? Maybe I have it in the wrong area, I have it in wiiu/apps, perhaps thats why controllers dont work?

Although my issue is they stopped working out of the blue after dozens of hours of use with no settings change or updates (controllers only fail in the emulators)
