Hey.

Not sure why. but my game crashes when i use any of these cheats. Are they supposed to be used while in a match or at the main menu? Unlock all cheats crash 100% of the time

Make sure you use the latest tcpgecko.elf from BullyWiiPlaza and don't use SDCheats. (You enable it by pressing X in the tcpgecko menu)
Always press A to not load SDCheats

I worked it out. My tcpgecko said it was the newest one. (on the homebrew appstore) but manually getting it from github and adding it to my sd works

Either there are no public codes for them or the codes were just broken. (You can't move correctly with them or can't attack etc.)

When I try to connect to the Wii U I get an error saying 'Exception of type 'SM4SG.ETCPGeckoException' was thrown'. Any idea on how to fix this?
I also have an image of the error just in case you want it.

as someone had the exact same error by the TP Trainer here what Dekirai said:

  • Wrong IP Address
  • Trainer could not connect to the Wii U
  • TCPGecko isn't enabled
  • Wii U doesn't have internet
it could be one of these 4 things, you should recheck everything

So I tried to use the trainer and followed all the right steps, including pressing A, entering my Wii U IP Address, and load the cheats.

But even after a while, I don't see the cheats work. Is there something I need to do to get this to work?

install homebrew, haxchii, and tcpgecko.
open up homebrew with haxchii (hold a) and load tcpgecko.
press a, and then load the game, then the trainer.
it works perfectly for me, every time.

Is it possible for you to make it work online? Perhaps install an anti-disconnect button in the program? Infinite online taunts? Thanks.

Something is weird.
It was working normally. I could even beat Classic Mode with some fighters on 9.0 without any problem. But suddenly I picked Zelda and it stopped working. The only cheat it lets you use is the infinite lives one. Also, when you reach the Fighting Mii Team it works normally again, but as soon as you're vs. Master Hand and Crazy Hand it no longer works. It works again during the credits tho. What the hell happened?! I tried using the previous characters I beat it with the cheats working and they no longer work either! What gives?! The only thing that always work is the infinite lives cheat.

Any ideas?

Is anyone out there still able to use this in 2024? I am having a issue getting Smash 4 to launch from game disc after activating TCP Gecko from homebrew launcher on my Wii U.

I start TCP Gecko (choosing A option --> "Install TCP Gecko with built-in code handler"). I can even connect both this SSB4 trainer and JGecko U to the Wii U before launching SSB4 Sm4sh. The connection succeeds.
My problem is as soon as I launch Smash 4 from the game disc, the system freezes on the title launch screen for the game. I have to hard reboot the Wii U after this. This freeze only occurs when I have 'activated' TCP Gecko from homebrew launcher.
I even tested it with option 2, press X for "Install TCP gecko with code handler and SD cheats") and I observe the same behavior -> system freeze on smash 4 title launch screen.
Although, based on what I have read, this option for SD cheats shouldn't be used with smash 4.

Wii firmware: 5.5.6 (installed latest homebrew and tiramisu)
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 1.1.7 (NTSC North America)
Homebrew Launcher 1.5
TCP Gecko: 2.53 (also tried 2.52 downloaded from Homebrew app store, same effect).
JGecko U: Version 4.3.5 built 3/24/24

Some other anecdotes:
* I can run TCP Gecko, connect JGecko U, and Launch another game "Fifa Soccer 13" without issue.
* Super Mario 3D World --> Game gets past Launch Title Screen but goes to eternal black screen. Ironically, I can push the Home button to get back to the Wii Menu still.

It was easy to bypass some of the restrictions, as one of the admins left a registry key in the administrative shares drive, which allowed me to get around the blocking of some sites.
