Hey everyone! In the interest of not killing my DVD drive, I ordered an Xk3y from modchipcentral. Have some questions if ya don't mind!

I have a 4gb phat arcade Jasper. I was blessed enough to get the lite-on (8 series I think) that allowed key extraction without any hardware mods! The current dvd drive is running the latest ixtreme and I can play all XGD3 games!

Few questions

- Modchipcentral said they got their latest stock of xkeys a few months ago. Would I need to update it or would it ship with the latest? Tut anywhere on how to update without the LCD
- I REALLY wanted an LCD but it appears they are discontinued and almost impossible to find now :(
- I have 2.955 TB of backups so I was going to use a 3TB small drive. The 2TB limitation is removed right? Anyone using a 3tb 2.5 drive that works?
- With that many backups, does it take a long time for it to find the HDD? Scan time long?

Thanks all!!!

Slims came with 4GB.
You sure it's a Jasper?

Updating it isn't to difficult and can be done very quickly.
Remotes aren't needed with ISO menu, It's easier and quicker to select then with the remote.
Not entirely sure, but you can always try it, Otherwise try to partition (btw, 2955GB won't fit on 3TB due to formatting)
In NTFS, yes, EXT4, likely quicker.

YUP SORRY!! Was on auto pilot. It was an arcade jasper V2 (the one without the extra heatsink extension on the GPU) but did not come with a hard drive, only built in flash memory (I forget how much)

Thanks for the response Dinoh!

- Any way to find out what the current update on the xkey is? Or just go ahead and flash it to latest anyway once I get it anyway?
- If you partition a single hard drive, will it read all the partitions games folders?
- With the LCD, you can see it detect the HDD. Without it, how can you tell if its done scanning yet?
- What do you use to format a HDD as EXT4 and can windows still write to the drive?

Thanks a ton!!!!

Just flash the latest to it.
Ensures you're up to date haha.

I honesty have no clue, never tried.
Could google it or just try it.

Presst eject when using ISO menu, it'll load a mixed media disc.

Should be some tools for it.
Or simply use a bootable Linux drive.

Last I checked, the 2tb limit was still there, but you can use multiple partitions and the xkey will see them all.

I think that also, it supports as far as ext3 but not ext4.
I myself use a 2tb HD but I'm lucky enough to have a remote.

Updating without a remote should be the same, I'd just leave the xbox alone for a bit to guarantee you're not turning off in the middle of the update.

Hopefully this info is still current but apologies if I'm out of date!

All good thanks!

Yeah one of the update notes showed that the 2TB+ support was added. Well might as well play it safe and keep it partitioned.

Thanks guys! Will report how it goes!

I've used up to a 5TB drive with the xk3y with no problem. But with that many games you will want to format it using exFat and not NTFS. For some reason game detection on NTFS takes much longer than exFat. My loaded 5TB takes about 3 minutes to catalog all the games. A loaded 2TB drive with exFat takes about 90 seconds.

Sorry for the confusion - both 5TB and 2TB drives are exFat format. As I recall a 5TB drive with NTFS format loaded with about 600 games took over 20 minutes for the xK3y to detect.

20 min --> 3 min a bit faster

Yes lol that is much faster.

I think my 2tb is NTFS and it does take like 3 full minutes to load. doesn't work well with impatient kids

I know this is old, but did you partition your 5TB? I have a 3TB and wondering if I have to do it or if the last firmware is good to go.
