I just bought a brand new 32GB microsd from walmart and I'll be damned if my R4i Gold 3DS RTS doesn't jive with it at all.

My R4(etc) was meant to replace my EZflash Vi and so far it has, as it does boot with my old EZflash Vi's SD card, but not the new Sandisk I purchased.
Anyone else experiencing this? Am I locked into using older microsd cards? 8GB is probably enough to do but... really wanted to use that 32GB because reasons.

Oh it is. I tried gparted in Linux and fat32formatter(that one program that gets thrown around here constantly) in Windows.

The card is apparently fine. I'm easily able to add and remove files, reformat, whatever I want on a computer.

It may just be an odd fluke but I'd hoped to find a real solution.

If it really is the case that the most popular and numerous retail-available microSD cards are not working in what is probably the most popular DS/3DS flashcart... someone may need to put up a warning of some sort, otherwise a lot of shops are going to get a lot of working flash cards sent back for a simple and avoidable problem.

btw the 8GB format didn't pan out so I'm just going to throw the 32GB card in my Vita's SD2Vita adapter. Same deal. Really... 8GB is "FINE" for a DS flashcard SD card. 20-30 games is probably the most I'll have on it at any time anyway.

Please format it with the cluster size as 64K bytes.
Just have a try again.

Just tried - same issue. Formatted with Windows, FAT32, 64k. Copied Wood kernel and a rom over. Just getting a black screen.
Tried again, formatting with GUI Format. Same black screen.

I have the red circuit board model r4i gold 3ds rts. Just bought a 32 gb sandisk ultra. It came pre-formatted with fat32 for some reason, but worked fine out of the box.

Pretty sure only 64gb+ come with exfat and not FAT32. But yeah the red one has zero problems. Maybe newer blue PCB batches have been fixed, I do not know.
