It'll be on Switch, it'll be short like gen 7, have FPS problems, have no postgame or either lack any exploration or exploration won't give you anything worth going out of your way for.

Hate to be negative about an IP I love but GameFreak's direction seems to be pandering to smartphone-playing kids who they presume doesn't want any difficulty and wants the quest to be streamlined with next to no optional deviation.
the fps problems I don't think will be as bad as on 3ds, as ya may have noticed, the 3ds pkmn games are making the 3ds struggle a little more with each release, they had said before that with pkmn sun/moon they have pushed the 3ds as far as they can and that's why they plan to shift over to the switch

They've stated that the next game will be drastically different and disruptive to the gameplay we've known for so long in the same way that Breath of the Wild shook up the Zelda formula. So while i know where you're coming from, based on what they've said thus far, I'm inclined to think you're wrong.

From what i remember they only said that they want to explore new ideas because of how different console is Switch, there was no promises, tho. Stop having high hopes, there will be no major deviation from the core ideas running this series. No open world, no MMO and they will DEFINITIVELY they will not resign from random encounters.

It was stated recently on a podcast by a guy with ties to Game Freak. So i suppose take it with a grain of salt, but really i wouldn't doubt it considering the massive leap the series will be making and all the extra power they have to now play with.

A blunt realist. After fans, youtubers and portals with gaming news FAILED HARD on the E3 "Pokemon Stars/DP Remake reveal", i have no reason to believe into some shitty gossips and "leaks" from the same sources.

We know nothing about Gen 8, and thus there's no reason to have any hope for "Super-special-different" gameplay.

well, it's the first pokemon game there releasing on this system so there is hope that they will pull something special for this system jump like they have in the past with going to the next system they move onto

Red/Green i don't count, they were overall first.
Gold/Silver - Okay, that was cool but more like repairing most Gen I quirks than inventing new stuff.
Ruby/Sapphire - Well, better graphics and... cutting down backwards compatibility? Few side-minigames like Contest?
Diamond/Pearl - P/S Split, some (very limited) use of 3D graphics, menu working with dual screens and again, few side-minigames.
XY - Full 3D, but overall there was no other spectacular changes in gameplay - It was the same old, good Pokemon game, just in 3D, barebone (but imho enjoyable) plot including. Oh, and Mega Evolution but it's just forme changes that we have from gen III, just in different flavour.

...I mean, no? First Pokemon games of every console actualy did not changed anything drastically gameplay-wise, except 3D in gen VI and questionable at best engine upgrade of Gen 3. Sure, the whole series evolved in time, but it was step-by-step process, without big things. There's also the fact that most ideas of people does not work with the core of entire series, and in case of oh-so-glorified open world would outright suck.

Well hopefully the switch pokemon games are bearable to look at, I love the 3ds but I can't stand it's low res screen anymore
that is a fact that we all can't deny that it will look better...well, unless they pull thee dumbest move on earth and lock it to the 3ds's res, in which case, wtf kinda drugs are they on :wtf:

My prediction list:
  • Z-moves are pushed to the back and forgotten, like I figured they would with Mega Evolution.
  • Either no new "Alolan" forms, or a small amount from more generations.
  • Either new Mega Evolution/Z-Stones, or a clone of one of them.
  • Not open world, but has more focus on using all 3 dimensions for movement through the different routes (behind the character camera angles, rock climbing, etc).
  • Voice acting. Only for certain cut scenes mind you, as the rest is filled with either grunts or silence.
  • A "2 actions in one turn" held item, something like receiving 2+ attack or Protect but still being able to use a regular attack on the same turn.
  • The International Police. (Investigating your MURDER perhaps. Or perhaps not.)
  • Battles will be the best looking and most detailed they've ever been, including games like Colosseum, but the overworld, while impressive compared to older Pokémon games, are still going to be "ugly" by Switch standards.
  • Pokémon-Amie will not quite reach Hay you Pikachu standards overall, but will exceed in certain parts or will have new stuff that makes it pretty close.
  • Old forgotten underpowered Legendary Pokémon will not change. Arceus will get a boost, but will likely be like the Primal duo and will only get it in the DPPt remakes.

Voice Acting... i mean, it's not a bad idea, but personaly i would prefer characters to stay silent. It's more fun to, ya know, IMAGINE voices of centrain characters. And adding random grunts and gibberish language is pretty pointless...

Also funfact - We know in-game canon voice at least for 1 character - Roxie (2nd gym leader in B2W2) is singing in her gym, tho it's just looped "P, O, K, E, M, O, N! POKEMON!"

They might add another language, perhaps?

I'd also like for an Australia-based region. Aboriginal dreamtime stories could be the basis for the legendaries.

And, how there's a gym that is based off the Eiffel tower XY, this game could have a water-type gym in the Opera House!

I would love it if they could make the game like Digimon Cyber Sleuth, running around in a Town that looks like reality just adding lots of Pokemon

And when you leave the Town (like Tokyo as in the Picture) you get into hugh fields with lots of Pokemon and can walk many many hours or take the train to the next town like Kyoto or whatever ...

Would be great to visit every big town in Japan fighting the Gym leaders of Sapporo Tokyo Kyoto Osaka Hiroshima Fukuoka Kumamoto and Okinawa ;)
Walking many hours or taking train ship and airplane like you would probably do in real life.

they already have voice actors they use for the anime so it clearly wouldn't be that hard for them to find va's. heck, I'm shocked they haven't tried to have the voice actors from the anime in the pokemon games before

...Except Gamefreak is not involved in any way with Pokemon anime directly, and vice versa - studio making anime has no buisness with Gamefreak. It would need negotiating completely new contracts for most actors, more money and overall it's not that easy as "Hey, you that played thay gym leader in anime, do the same in game!".

no, not directly, but there are still connections there so they have some means of having found someone who has a voice to fit the character right off the bat so they could still at least ask them ya know
