Ahhh the Pokemon Center, that wonderful free health care building where you can take your battered Pokemon and heal 'em up for more battles, all for free! If only the real world had that...annnnd we do, kinda. GameStop has announced the arrival of Pokemon Centers in various GameStop/ThinkGeek locations around the US. These Pokemon Centers will cater to the hardcore Pokemon fans, offering various Pokemon collectibles and exclusive items that can't be found elsewhere. If you don't have a GameStop near you, or if your's is too lame to introduce it, you can also occasionally find some of the items online at GameStop's online store. Items range from figurines and pins to journals and clothing items, as well as the ever popular TCG boxes.

We are excited to bring fans the highest quality Pokémon collectibles at in-store Pokémon Centers, before any retailer outside Japan,” said Janet Bareis, senior vice president of collectibles for GameStop. “The center launches just in time for the holidays, giving gift-givers plenty of time to find a special gift for the budding Pokémon trainer on their list.

can you buy retro stuff in poke centers? like old consoles and games?
In the two Japanese ones I've been in (Osaka/Umeda and Tokyo skytree), nope - it's 60% plushies, 20% other toys (love that Blastoise nanoblock (lego clone) kit I bought), 5% current Pokemon arcade machines, 5% a giant statue usually tied into the newest mainline games (was a Mega Rayquaza and some form of Charizard in august 2016), only a very small space for current generation games and "limited" edition consoles

the store near me just has a section on the wall that normally has Pokemon stuff on it. now, it has the same stuff, but with "pokemon center" section banners, and one or two more items.

it's gamestop folks, don't expect too much.

Oh, I remember these! They set up these "Pokemon Center" stores at big gaming conventions and sell a bunch of merchandise. Now they're in GameStop? Well okay, all the GameStops I know barely have floor space for all the things they've got (so much is literally overflowing onto the ground), I don't know where they'll have space for this. It's also very expensive, sure, but they're generally very good quality. Since it's for "hardcore" fans, you and I both well know that people will lap this up... including me e.e
