I work retail and look at the systems on a daily basis and all of our recent (past 3 days) stock is 2.3.0-3.0.0 I've only seen 3 systems on 3.0.1 and who's to say more flaws are not found over time.

Not saying they won't be. I am talking about what the quote in the first post is discussing about the currently limited audience.

I want to believe, I just don't want this to be another PS3 3.55 situation, and I really don't want to spend 300 dollars on a homebrew machine. I shouldn't have to, you know?
This is for me probably the first time Iv'e got a Console before Homebrew was Enabled so I came into this knowing I'll probably wont be able to play the latest games straight away, so I mentally prepared myself for the wait :P and I know I'm not the only one ;)

Their concern seems to be about the size of a potential audience as, from general indication, the audience on 3.0.0 or in general compromised hardware is paltry at best (to the point where I didn't even see Pokken make a blip on the radar on usual channels I'd have expected when full Rohan went live and the new broke, suggesting that the general interest or awareness is very low). It would be a good investment for the future but with no timetable on such a thing and a very small audience to work with, it appears that some part of the crew finds it a poor investment of time at the moment.

Daekan retiring probably also dampers spirits.

One big doorway does possibly remain with plutoo's unknown kernel exploit as we have no clear confirmation on its fw but right now he's using that kernel exploit to help build userland tools, so who knows when he'd release it or if he even will.

The audience is small but it's not always going to be like that. Why not get a jump start on it while there's an opportunity to do so? I'm hopeful this wont be the only opportunity to get Homebrew on the Switch and like you said we don't know what the Min Firmware Plutoo's Kernel Exploit uses?

I haven't seen any indication that it isn't a 3.0.0 thing but at the same time, never say never. :D Its just that even his exploit can and will be patched the moment its made public, and with the downgrade protections its ultimately just going to be back to the same problem as most people are still not in the scene or paying it much attention.

As for the RA porting, well early work is still an opportunity cost. If you think your time is better spent elsewhere with more immediate returns, you'd pursue that venture over an uncertain one as the opportunity cost is simply not favorable to the latter. I imagine this is their main concern on their time and, from the quote discussion, that seems to be the general gist of their current hesitance.

Twinaphex has said he wouldn't be against providing an Emu Dev a Switch on 3.0.0 to do the port for them if it's Switch that wins the vote (and its looking like that's going to be the case) so it wouldn't take any time away from the Retroarch Dev's themselves. :)

I just don't want to be disappointed, that's my biggest concern. I sure as hell don't want to spend 300 dollars once more.

The Xbox One already has Retrix and Dev mode, doesn't it?
They already have their fair share of emulators on the thing, it's time for the Switch to shineeeee babyyyyyyyyyyy
That's why I voted for Switch (but damn I would like to see a true Retroarch port on Xbox One) ... in time maybe ;)

You know what'd be neat?
If hackers actually beat Nintendo to Retro gaming on the Switch.

Now THAT would be epic.
More so given that Nintendo apparently is going for some sort of subscription service for the Switch now instead of the usual Virtual Console we are used to.

RetroArch all the fucking way, baby, without any doubt.

Dollars to donuts hackers will have Snes, NES, Genesis, etc emulation long before Nintendo.

If they find 3.0.0 anymore
Homebrew master race, pal!

Crushing defeat :(

Well, I'm out.

Indeed.
And without their stupid licensing issues and copyright bullshit.
Fuck their retro service, I go for my emus anyday

Don't worry dude, more will come in due time :)

I'm curious, how are people so confident in seeing more exploits for newer firmware? I mean, see, I always have this niggling feeling that Nintendo will make it super hard to find an exploit in newer firmware. I don't want to by another Switch, I don't want to be limited to 3.0.0, so I updated to 4.0.2 last week. Ugh.
