Has anyone tried the generic USB-C hub dock replacements from china? I got one off aliexpress for ~$20 - this one specifically, says it ships from the US which is definitely raising an eyebrow. Anyways, the question I have has to do with the ever-present heat problems. My presumption was, seeing how big the regular dock is as is, this replacement shouldn't be much worse than that. Still, when considering just how hot the thing comes out of the dock I have to ask. Is it worth putting out the extra money for a stand or can I just put my switch on the carrying case screen-down so the thing has room to ventilate and it will be fine?

Also, as a side-thing are they all picky with the AC adapters?

I have the SH350 and it works nearly perfect on my end.
The only problem is when the switch ends standby mode you have to unplug the usb c connector from the switch and plug it in again to make it display the picture again.
It also covers the important function to enable charging and using the lan adapter while in tabletop-mode.

Why? It all makes sense to pre-import products the seller bets they will sell

Should be fine, in fact they show it working that way according to the pictures (and hot air tends to go up)

That's a weird limitation but interesting to consider. Thanks for the heads-up. Do you ever have concern with how hot it is after an extended period on the new dock or is it just warm like it normally gets?

Just interesting seeing as most stuff I pick up from ali I just assume is from mainland china, I never even considered sellers providing an option to ship from the US.

I figure as much, I just don't really like laying it down screen-first but I guess if it's on a soft enough object it will probably turn out fine.

I got mine today, and it works fine albeit with the same functionality on sleep mode mentioned previously. The USB C end that goes into the switch itself is a little tight. Works fine with my phone charger even though that's only 5v/3a output, just doesn't show the system as charging in the menu. Going to controllers, it shows the joy cons charging on and off a bunch. On the whole, it feels like you get what you pay for but the fact that it works at all for less than 1/4 of what the original cost makes it worth it for me personally.

Nyko already has a firmware update for their dock replacement that fixes the sleep problem, I doubt that will be available for these little ones without a straight hardware revision but I'd love to be proven wrong. Would be interested in hearing about the other type that is more dock-shaped and often sold as just casing outside of aliexpress - I believe the board is an "HBoard i3" - Also by Coov but seems to have more ports and may be a little bit different. I imagine they have similar problems but the information on them is a little bit sparse, I'd appreciate input from anyone with one because the HDMI switch-over isn't a huge problem but I can see it get annoying over time.

Here's a picture (with a pro controller and some nfc tags for reference):

I've got two of these. I don't want to see the official dock again and I think we'll get something like this with the inevitable revision. I will say I probably wouldn't use a dock that didn't have the official dock chip in it.

Em, my dock is from not aliexpress, I bought it from the store which sold and shipped me many flashcards for 3ds, but I know the aliexpress, if it really can ship from USA, you can try to place an order, if it can't, I think you should buy from else.
