Hey folks, got a little somethin' that I want to share with y'all....

I noticed that a lot of people are getting a bit antsy and just can't wait to have "Homebrew" on their Nintendo Switch systems, well have I got some bad news for you guys. Ya gotta realize that realisticly speaking, "Homebrew" is not gonna come for a couple of more years. I know I might sound like Nintendo telling you to give up, but no, you just gotta be patient is all. Try to remember that both the Vita and 3DS also takes a couple of years before finally people can put stuff they made into it.

Why I think that this device is the same is that enabling or adding "Homebrew" into the Switch is basically illegal since we, the people, are tampering with the device and making it do stuff that it shouldn't be able to do in the first place, "cough" piracy "cough". But, that doesn't mean you should give up, cos' while it takes a long time doesn't mean that it wont happen. But my guess, it'll probably be open or "cracked" in a couple of years in the future (my guess would probably after/at update 5.0.0 or 6.0.0).It is possible, again don't forget that the Vita shipped with fw 1.03 and it got "cracked" with HenKaKu at fw 3.60, while the 3DS shipped with fw 1.0.0.0 and its open between fw 9.0/10.0/11.0 (but again staying on low helps).

Also in case you still want to wander the web in search of progress don't bother, because those trying to unlock the switch will likely try to keep their progress hidden, atleast until they have something. This is so Nintendo can't make more patches or updates that'll hinder their progress (duh).

So there you have it, those are my thoughts on the Switch's current hacking scene. I researched some of the statements above, but if I miss or got anything wrong please tell, don't yell, please.Thank You...

PS : Sorry I accidentally posted this as a question instead of a suggestion, if anybody know how to change it please give a holler...
These are all assumptions. There's no reason to think that homebrew won't release in the near future.

This is also an assumption. There's no reason to think homebrew WILL release in the near future either. Tool chains can take months to build out to a usable level, potentially longer (depending on how much time the devs want to sink into it).

Imagine an NDS emulator though. I can see it now, some really talented guy makes a super clean emulator that let's you have the switch in a vertical or horizontal layout. The touch screen and physical buttons are there so it can be a reasonably accurate emulation. I'm sure that's several years off though.

The obnoxious assumption that it won't come for years is really ignorant. We really never know. Especially with the strides they've made with the Switch scene, it's likely to come FAR sooner. Don't be ignorantly pessimistic.
The way the OP was worded its like he knows for a fact. Kinda funny, honestly.

Drastic could be a huge possibility given the hardware.

what about fw 2.1? or was that discovered later?
all the misinformation publicly it was 4.2 (gateway . . . and yes its a flashcard but its also cfw) then it expanded through to 4.5 (with the introduction of mset) then 9.0 (/9.2) then 8.1(j) (around this time devs tinkered with possibility's in fws 1 through 3) with slowhax (then fasthax) came the downgrading of consoles from 9.3 to 11.2 range to a cfwable 9.2 then came a9lh then (a year later) came the nail in the coffin b9s

Call it a hunch, but I don't think Windows 10 is getting ported to the Switch as a homebrew application.

Also, keep in mind how much work it would take to build a good-enough C library for using the System API (a necessity for making most homebrew applications), which will probably involve loads of REing.
The switch is a NVIDIA shield tablet down to the tegra bootrom, im very sure someone will get it to run at some point.

The main things that are left for homebrew is arb write and a call chain (a dev already has some ideas for a call chain). I'm pretty sure it will take months until we're there, not years.

All that stuff will come in time, the bit I'm interested in is how the whole flagging for bans will play out this time round. Whereas most people didn't care that much about bans on 3DS even before it was possible to revert them, I think this time it will be a little different.

As long as we stay offline it should be no problem, right?

Who knows, at this point it's all speculation. But I think the flag could still happen offline and then if you ever go online it triggers the ban. Especially with their paid service due to launch next year.

I would find it kinda creepy if the switch activates the wlan itself lol.
