I have been having a fear of using the dock because I don't know if the switch can be used in hid dock with a broken or no battery..
I looked for a similar topic but I counted find any so I posted my own!

why not just repair the switch instead? :P shouldnt it still be free?
first:.. that don't answer the question (but it could solve it!)
and second:.. I live in Chile and Nintendo doesn't know about Latin America :v

no, my switch works fine but I want to avoid damaging the battery! now.. if it works without a battery but only docked, then I won't mind!

I wouldn’t see why it couldn’t. Laptops can function without a battery as long as they’re plugged in
hasn't anybody ever tried it? or removes the battery to verify
(and yes! I also believe that because I have had laptop without batteries)

you do know that when the battery is fully charged in docked mode, the system shuts off battery use and runs off the AC power.

wait, wait, wait.. realy??!.. but then why are some switches bending? (unless it's bending because of something else and no because the battery is swelling (and though starting my fear with a switch battery not working by overuse))

Ok, but there could still be some sanity check to make sure the battery exists, even if it's not needed :)

My theory to the bending is that when the Switch is docked you can run in actual 1080P. The Switch gets hotter because the dock "unlocks" all the Switches processing power, and the dock happens to enclose the switch somewhat. Just my theory, but its nothing to do with the battery.

my switch has been in it's dock pretty much since day one and it hasn't bent. so the bending is coming from something else probably no enough air circulation. my switch is on a shelf with plenty of room all around it.

I think the bending is more of the user's fault and they decided to blame Ninty.
Seriously, my Switch can get really hot but it never bend.

by the time you have to worry about this which will be at least a year but probably actually 2 or more batteries will be under $20 and easily replaceable.
it is possible it can't power without a battery though my last 3 phones haven't been able to turn on without batteries.

This is a bit off topic, but there are user reports that their switch got scratched by the dock.

Just enjoy your switch.
The only widespread problem so far was the connection problem of the left joy con of the day-one-consoles.

Good question, but a smatphone can work whitout battery and conected to charger? in my try the answer is not. The battery may have some years and charges
before dying or failing, so don't worry

It should be easy enough to open your switch, disconnect the battery, then see if it'll play. I haven't done it yet though, but maybe one of these days.

As long as you have Warranty better send it to Nintendo first.

Well if is anything like the shield tablet which requires soldering wires, then is a lot accessible to every compared to smartphones. I haven't been able to use My Nvidia Shield tablet cause the battery inflated like a bag of popcorn in the microwave. I don't know how to solder. :wtf:

Ahh not this crap again.

There was a dude asking the same stuff when the switch first came out.

Just use it how your suppose to use it and leave it be.
The this isnt 1900 batteries this is 2017. Batteries are a lot better and work as they should.
If the system is on a charger or dock all the time. The battery will stay full and not be in use.

And the bending switch is a mix of heat and user pulling on them while in handheld mode.
