I'm in need of help. I used MLTHaKu! to hack a phat vita and sd2vita. It was working fine for weeks, but the one time I brought it out of sleep mode, and it said that the file was corrupt whenever I tried to open a game. So I restarted the system and now whenever it boots, it says I need to update the system software or format the memory card. I've restarted the system, pulled out the sd2vita card and put it back in, tried a different sd2vita using the same micro SD, reset the database... all to no avail. What should I do? I feel like it can't be working one minute and permanently broken the next.

Hello, I need help “cleaning” and doing a clean install in my PSTV.
I have a 3.60 with Enso and adrenaline 6.61, with an usb flash drive as ux0 with usbmc.

In summary: It seems that I have made a botched job with my vita and I have a huge problem.
I want to “clean” it and install things from “0”, but trying not to lose the activation nor saved games/games.
Also I have a few other questions.

Because of the post length I’m gonna spoiler the explanations for those that want to read and help.

-The botched job problem:

The problem is that, after I tried to move psp games to the home screen as bubbles with the "adrenaline bubbles manager", I’ve probably broken the database or something like that, and now adrenaline has the previous base game icon.
After that I tried to fix it (I don’t remember how), and it created two other adrenaline bubbles, that don’t work and have an incorrect icon/name.
Also I had applied a theme and now it doesn’t show.
Sometimes when I turn the pstv on it does strange things, or the controller disconnects and I can’t synchronize it again if I don’t restart the console.

The other day I was playing and left the pstv with the game paused for a while to do other things, and when I came back and went to continue an error appeared returning me to the main menu of the console and no longer letting me open any bubble.
All of them gave me a numbered error or told me that the data was damaged, and it didn’t matter how many times I turned the system off and on, didn’t fix it, and it didn’t let me enter vitashell or anything at all.
In the end I removed the pendrive and plugged it into my computer in case something had gone very bad, but all the data was there, I made a copy just in case and, when I put the usb back in the pstv, everything worked again. But now I'm scared.

Could someone help me and explain how to clean the botched job that I must have done on the console? I mean, how to leave the console clean without losing the activation or other important things and not updating it, and then install the basics in the cleanest way. Although the latter I think I can manage myself, but I’m scared of cleaning it myself and doing another botched job.

Another question I have is: the usb I use for pstv is an ultrafit Sandisk like this: http://amzn.eu/3gNUS7C, and it gets very hot when running all the time. Am I risking losing all my data? Do you recommend using something less poweful/tiny like a 2.0 toshiba?
And aside, the controller and the usb are connected to an usb hub, which is only powered through the usb cable that goes to the pstv. Can this be a potential risk too?

Can I use the pstv without an account? I mean, can I "remove" my account from the console and still use it? Also, is my account at risk of being banned? Should I avoid buying new games on that account? I didn't sync any trophies.

-Original game inside adrenaline:

I have MHFU buyed from the store, and first I played it as a separate bubble, but when I installed adrenaline and all that it disappeared and was only accesible from adrenaline (with this being a good thing for me because of the added filters.), but when I did that botched job that I described earlier, the game returned to the home screen as a separate bubble.

How can I make it appear inside adrenaline again and use it with filters?

I'm having trouble with something really dumb. For some reason the context menu doesn't appear when I press triangle in the root of molecularShell. Does anyone know why that may happen?

Edit: Nevermind, I downloaded and installed latest version of VitaShell and now it works.

I made a post a few weeks ago asking for this, but haven't find the solution for this so i'll ask here.

Why i can't use ftp with any homebrew (vitashell, molecular, ftplaystation). I always get a timeout, and if it do connect it's really unstable and/or slow or failed to transfer this happen with either big or small file, usually disconnect a few seconds later.

New question:
When i tried to download katawa shoujo from homebrew browser the progress bar always start over after 5-10%, why is this? It works fine with smaller homebrew, i said smaller because i thought katawa shoujo is quite big, when i download the phone one it is quite big.

For both case my internet connection is working normally, i can ftp between pc, and i can download some big files using vita browser.

Help is greatly appreciated.

I still haven't resolved this. I think I figured out what caused it though. I was attempting to use Adrenaline and it said I needed to "activate" my Vita. So I used the activator (I didn't update the system fireware, still 3.60) and signed into my PSN account. Now my SD2Vita won't work. I tried putting the SD2Vita in my PS TV, which used to work, but now it says that the memory card belongs to another user or something to that effect. Is there any way to un-activate my memory card or am I just screwed? I don't really care about getting Adrenaline to work, I just want to be able to play my Vita games and have my save files intact.

Do I need a special program so windows can read the format of the SD card or is it just standard FAT:32 format ? in which case windows should read it fine right?
Worse case scenario can I reformat and start from scratch or do I need the original files of the hack or some console specific files on the SD card?

thanks vita shell seems to be installed as it has its app icon there, also enso app icon and it loads to Henku when powering on. so I assume ensohenkaku is all working.
It also has molecularshell (whats that?) and adrenaline which I want for my psone games. no vita memory only sd memory it seems.

What are my best options here?

You should never remove the adapter! The sd card is clicked in so if you push it in its going to pop out so you can get the sd adapter out and pop it in there and use it in your pc.
Always make sure you turn off your vita before removing the sd! Do not put into sleep

does sleep mean standby mode?

Edit: I think putting the sd card in my pc corrupted the SD card as games wont load and now adrenaline doesn't work. keep getting error codes tried to load up vita shell and not loading.

Basically i just want to play vita games psp and psx games through adrenaline . so i don't mind reformatting the card and starting from scratch also (especially as it seems its now corrupted) that way I can learn my way around the programs and installing the aps like adrenaline and learning what i need to do. I learnt my way around wii and 3ds and ps2 but buying something already hacked has got me a little confused as never had a psvita.

Since you're using enso, your tai config (which is where plugins like SD2Vita are setup) should be located in ur0 (which is the Vita's internal storage). This means you can just reformat the SD2Vita following this guide: http://cfw.guide/vita/sd2vita and put it back in the Vita and continue as normal.

You'll need to reinstall Molecular Shell (assuming it's not on ur0 as well) by going to http://henkaku.xyz/ on your Vita's browser and clicking the install button (note, not https! This is currently broken, so http must be used). Once that's done, you can install VitaShell via VPK by transferring it to the Vita via FTP. While both Molecular Shell and Vita Shell are file browsers, VitaShell is the superior one vs Molecular Shell as it has more features and customization and such.

Then you should be all set.

Yes, Molecular Shell would still be on the homescreen. If it is, then that just means it was moved to ur0. It's not really that important to learn about, as the only time you'll need it these days is to just install VitaShell (since the related settings it used to have, like spoofing and such, are now integrated into the official Vita settings).

One thing I'm a little unsure of is it says step 6: Copy the backup you made earlier to the SD Card
Im assuming i can skip this step ?
as the card is corrupted I cant make a back up.

1st time I tried it warned me that I was on 3.65 so I turned off spoofing didn't work same message so do I have to spoof 3.60 ? it seems like its the only way ? just want to clarify before i set it on fire.

Okay so turned off spoofing reset it and went to the browser to install it came up with error and then it took me to a molecular shell screen like dos format then said
"press R1 to reset henkaku settings and reinstall molecular" so I did now its telling me there is no memory card installed skipping installation of molecularshell?

Yea I would start over if I were you, and do a full reformat of the card, and maybe run it through an application like H2testw to make sure the card is good. It sucks to start over, but you get to put on the card what you like. Plus It is a good way to learn how the Vita works.
