Green 2DS Ocarina of Time 3D bundle announced

IMG_5339.JPG

Though the 3DS is nearing the end of its lifecycle, it doesn't mean the handheld isn't still kicking. Nintendo has announced that for Black Friday 2017, they'll be releasing a green 2DS bundle, with Ocarina of Time 3D included as pre-install. It'll launch on November 24th, and retail for $79.99. Oddly enough, this is NOT for the recently released New 2DS XL--this is an original 2DS bundle.

Maybe they had some remaining parts for the 2DS and figured this was a good way to get rid of them with only needing to color some plastic. It doesn't even have any printing it's just a different color.

What. the. fuck. But okay, let's look at it closer...

Reggie said in a recent interview that Nintendo is gearing the 3DS line towards entry-level gamers (mostly kids), for those who want their own console. So basically, 3DS for the kiddos, Switch for the adults. Since they're going for entry-level consumers, it makes sense to keep selling the original 2DS. Only $80 and you get access to a HUGE catalog of DS and 3DS titles. Now why Ocarina of Time? Well, it's a first party game and very old, so I'm guessing it's cheaper for them to absorb that cost and continue selling the 2DS at $80. When you look at it in that light, this decision makes a lot more sense.

Hey, it'd be useful for some shacking.

Also, I can see why they want to support the 3DS so late into its EoL. It was a solid system with a decent-sized userbase. It'd be a shame to throw it out all at once (which would alienate more than a few consumers). That was one of many mistakes Sega made when they essentially disowned the Mega Drive/Genesis to focus on the Saturn (and look how that turned out).

Ya, it makes sense. Although a good portion of Nintendo's consumers are teens and adults. A lot of these adults do have disposable income and are willing to spend it on shiny new Ninty stuff. This is why i don't understand why there are not more bundles for the New2DSXL.
(Also, Low key hoping for N2DSXL Black Friday Deal )

Would be nice as a New 2DS XL bundle. Have they COMPLETELY forgotten about it? There's been 2-3 Old 2DS bundles announced since the New 2DS XL's release. Wtf Ninty?

Size of (collector + fanboy + newcomer) market is bigger than (collectors + some fanboys)

N2DS has the same marketing problem as PSP Street, the missing features don't make it a disaster but why buy one if you can get a new N3DS for 10 € more or a well-kept used one for less?

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
