Hi guys,
Had a friend over at my house and she decided to try make a new Internet connection cuz she didn't know how my Wii U works. I caught it just in time before my Wii U updated but a bit of the system updata data was d/loaded and is currently pending. I'd like to delete it. Here's what it currently looks like:

I imagine I might be able to use something like FTPii U to look at the NAND files, find it and delete it but I need help finding the correct folder or a better method to delete this data. Thanks in advance, sorry I couldn't locate another thread on this. I'm sure it's been answered before.

Unplug the Wii U from the back while it is on.

Don't shut it down normally, literally pull the plug.

Then plug it back in and restart.

Wuts up bro!!?? Man, it's been waaaaay too long. Glad to see your still on here, as always I appreciate the help. Hope all is well with ya.

About the topic at hand I have, unplugged it from the back, restated it and when I go to the d/load management icon on the bottom right corner there's always this pending d/load now, with that exact amount data saved for the sysupdate file. So imagine there must be a way to delete this data so that it gets removed from d/load management. I don't like seeing that pending, it's just eerie seeing that there lol.

Go to eshop (either disable blocking if you're on 5.5.2 or use NNU patcher if you're not) and download a free demo. After it's done downloading go to your data management screen and you'll be able to remove the system update data.

This works well to fix the update problem permanently.
Yeah, permanently. That's why I don't usually recommend it. It works well but when 5.5.2 update came out and people learned that HaxChi still worked we were flooded with threads on how to reverse this change so users that wanted to update could.

There probably won't be another update and in turn probably won't need to reverse but you never know. I just use DNS blocking and it does the trick just fine and it's easy to turn off if I want to.

Here is the how-to if you want to remove update folder manually : https://gbatemp.net/threads/block-wii-u-system-updates-without-dns-blocking.477944/

Thx guys prob solved. the method of d/loading a demo unfortunately didn't work for me. For now I just deleted the files in the update folder and it worked well. I see no reason to update right now anyway. If ever I need to I'll know it'srevesable and I'll find a thread. Thanks again everyone.

This post makes no sense.

1) This method was discovered after 5.5.2 was released anyway
2) The link posted is my topic. How to unblock was written from the first draft of the tutorial, and to dumb it all down, reversing the process is just to create folder when the original process was to just delete it. Even the permission info I have is probably not necessary. I just added it for completeness.

Fair enough. I'm not arguing with you. Like I said, DNS blocking has always worked for me so I saw no need to recommend another solution but to each their own.

It's not an argument :) .. Nor is it about a preference. But the information stated in that post baffled me really since it wasn't discovered until after 5.5.2 was released, and reversing the steps was always there (which is also exactly as doing them. Create folder instead of delete).

In terms of functionality, yeah both methods work and users are free to choose whatever they like.

No worries, you know I love you @Madridi :). I remember threads asking how to add the update folder back. Maybe I'm high. It's possible

Just upgrade to 5.5.2. you can install CHBC and/or Haxchi and have eShop/updates without NNU patcher. if you want to stay at 5.5.1 then delete the update folder from the NAND and the Wii U can never update until this folder is recreated with the correct permissions.

I would recommend updating to 5.5.2 then deleting the update folder.
