Rescue shot? Is this a drinking game?

*searches youtube and google*

No, really...is this a drinking game? (as in: do you have to be drunk in order to enjoy this?)

Please tell me my google-fu did not bring a nightmare in here  I never heard of this game.
Nope, it didn't give me nightmares while sleeping. The picture just gave me some really creepy thoughts for some reason and is the kind of thing that'll give me nightmares. I don't think most of us here have heard of this either to be fair.

Oh boy, I totally forgot about this. Actually, to be honest, I kinda stopped posting here 'cause... I'm a dumb idiot that falls into, like,
anti-socializing depressions or stuff like that. Also, I tend to think nobody cares 'bout my opinions or what.
Welp, ya know what? Fuck it, let's do this :P
Also 'cause, I've been getting better at, like, socializing with people and talking and whatnot.

Just a fyi, I'm italian, so, I may make grammar mistakes or my sentences may not make much sense. Sorry. :P

Welp, you can turn any game into a drinking game if ya want XD
No, actually, we could classify this game in a rail shooter game.
This game is a sort of 3d spiritual successor to the Point Blank series, a compilation of minigames you play by using lightguns, also created by Namco.
In this game, you grab your thrusty GunCon (a gun ya attach to the ps1!) or your controller, if you were like me and weren't able to find one, and assume
the role of an "entity" that must protect Bo, the rabbit(?), as he travels thru the levels not knowing (or not noticing, I guess. He's a bit dumb) the peril
around him.

The very first screen of the game. Shoot those bats!

The game begins with Bo playing by pretending to be a prince, when the bully gang (what an original name) that look like Zubat's ripoffs start making fun of him.
He tries to run away, but ends up falling down a cliff. Then, some guy called Hunter (which looks like Nintendo's Fox cousin to me) comes along and finds him
unconscious. We then find out that Bo lost his memory from the fall. Hunter, looking at the crown and cape Bo was wearing, thinks he may be a prince
and points him to a castle in the background. After waving goodbye, Hunter goes his way as Bo starts marching on the road to the castle.
But just before the game begins proper, Bo finds a Dream fragment, a luminescent orb that it's said it protect whoever holds it (thus, the entity that
the player take control of) and, if enough are found, would grant a wish to his or her possessor.

The story is told thru some lovely slide show while accordion plays in the background.

And so, the game begins proper! Bo will never stop in his tracks, unless at specific points. Also, he'll never jump, falling in an hole/abyss if he
crosses one. How do you solve this problem? Ya shoot him, of course! While the projectiles are fatal for the enemies, they will bounce harmlessly
against him, 'causing him to fall on his head if shot there, or jump if shot at the body, which you'll need to do a lot to make him dodge enemies attacks!
And also to stop him to shoot at everything that moves (or not). Enemies aren't the only thing to shoot for points. :P

There, the game is saying it for ya.

During his travel, Bo will go across four worlds, each divided in three levels, and meet a bizarre cast of enemies and characters.
He will have to travel thru The Mushroom Kingdom (no, I'm not calling it that 'cause it looks like the Mario's one. That's how it's actually called in the game),
a japan-like country, a big, gang filled city, and a futuristic metropoly. Along the way, he'll meet up characters like the aforementioned Hunter, a thief that wants
to steal Bo's dream fragments called Grey (which, when I was little, tought it was James from the pokemon anime. He also Jojo-poses) and Trixie, a blond girl
wearing a red striped dress that wants to ruin Bo's day for some reason. There are also some minor characters you'll meet in the worlds, like
the king/feudal lord/mafia boss that all look the same 'cept for their outfits, a cat girl, a ninja bird, an henchwoman for the mafia boss that looks like Olive Oyl
but with a pink coat and a machinegun umbrella, a pair of thieves that aren't absolutely inspired by Bonnie and Clyde, and an alien that wants to convert
people into robots to conquer the world. All the while accompained by some fun, colored visual and a very sweet soundtrack.

The boss if the first world. Guess what ya gotta shoot? :P

The entire game. Watch it at speed 1.25, the game's slowed down for some reason

What the heck is this game? Looking at the cover causes me to run in the other direction.
What possessed you to pick up this game?

'Cause I like obscure stuff? XD
Also 'cause it's one of my first ps1 games, and I got a funny story behind it.
Back in the day, there would be people selling burned ps1 games. Since I had a modded ps1 (honestly, who din't?), I used to buy games from them,
or get them from my parents when they came back after their business. One time, my mom came back with this ps1 game, claiming to be Pokemon
for the ps1. Being the little nerd I was back then (and it only got worse, thrust me), I immediately throught that this couldn't be it, since Pokemon
is an Nintendo ip, and this was on the ps1. I popped the disk in, and bragged about how I was right. XD
Still, I played the game, and had a blast! This game is awesome!

It's real! Pokemon for the playstation exists!

So...what's it about ?
any good OST ? ( post it here )
favorite stage ?

For the first question, read up there XD
Second one, hell yeah, this game's got an awesome OST.
One of my favorite tracks are the one where you fight the boss of the first level of the second world

You're travelling thru a japanese garden with some nice, melodic music,
'till you get on a raft in a river AND GET CHASED BY A DRAGON WHILE THIS PLAYS!

And the fight against the thief duo, Bunny and Riot

But the rest of the OST kicks ass too!
And my favorite level has to be... Well, actually, two levels: The second and third level of the third world.
In the second level, you're on a train as it gets assaulted by a gang, and ya gotta shoot your way to the locomotive while listening to some awesome music,
and the third level has you on top of a speeding car, as you shoot at obstacles and gang members/cars, ending with a boss fight against the thief duo.

Is it normal to have nightmarish thoughts after seeing the cover of this game?
Dunno, guess that's just you. If ya don't like it, how about the japanese cover?

From left to right, an elf/gnome enemy, Grey, Bo, Hunter and Trixie

And the back too, why not

Well, guess that's because this game never came out in America :P Just Japan and Europe.

@DarkCoffe64 that Japanese cover is a whole lot better. And yeah, I guess it's just me. The European cover just creeps me out for some reason. I guess I needed something to be creepy on Friday the 13th. :P

Welp, the only thing I say could be scary in this game (at least for me when I was a little kid) was the last world, with its ominous music and the footsteps of marching
killer robots. Tho, there are also some freaky enemy design too. Still, I guess I can understand ya: That cover it's a bit uncanney valley-ish, I guess.
