Hello Everyone,

It has been a while since I got back into the homebrew scene for the Wii U. What made me stop was that my Wii U Gamepad is now broken and therefore cannot access the Homebrew Launcher/Store. Is there any way to access the homebrew launcher without a gamepad and simply navigate using the Wii U Pro Controller? If this is accomplished I would then proceed to download Haxchi for a more permanent fix.

Here is what I have.

Wii U Version 5.5.1
Homebrew Launcher installed on the Home Menu (Does not work, when booting up Wii U first time)
I also use IOSU Hacks just throwing it in there.

It would be great if I can get some insight on how to tackle this problem. If all else fails I can just ask a friend if I can borrow their Wii U Gamepad.

Thanks

Kinda wondered why this isn't a thing either.

Why do you need a picture? He asked if you can navigate homebrew launcher without gamepad, not how to do something, he seem to know what he needs to do but can't cause of this problem of not being able to control HBL without gamepad.

As far as I know, the HBL (and Haxchi) require the Wii U Gamepad. You cannot do anything without it (except scroll the pages of the HBL with a Pro Controller). However, since you are on 5.5.1, you can use a Wii Remote to perform the web exploit and navigate the HBL with a Wiimote.

Could he just replace HBL file with the haxchi install file to skip HBL? If he can install haxchi, then he can set shortcuts for homebrew and skip using HBL most of the time. Or someone could have just not made the gamepad the primary use of the loader.

The problem is that I have to actually download the DS game off of the store, so I need to update to 5.5.2. Problem is I have a DNS block and I can't do anything about that without a gamepad. Also I would like to mention that I have the loadiine.ovh link saved as a bookmark on my Wii U.

Well I mean without the game pad, most things isn't easy. I thought there was homebrew that can access eshop without updating. But you can't even use options without gamepad. You probably should go and get one on loan, set everything up and return it. Best i can suggest. It be easier to set it up with one.

I do not know what an SD tree is. Could you please elaborate? Is it the contents of my SD card? If you could point me to a specific direction
you're probably on windows so find your sd cards drive letter and type "tree" then the drive letter, after show me the output.

you can sort of make an option to use the wiiremote/wiiupro controller on the tv with the cbhc menu to access the homebrew launcher. You have to use ftpiiu everywhere & filezilla together and change the drc use in a string with your ds vc title in the meta.xml file (<drc_use type="unsignedInt" length="4">2</drc_use>" and then you can see the menu on your tv and start it that way. I will try and find my original explanantion on how to do this but my god to explain it all again is a mammoth job and if your not very confident with filezilla anyway you should not attempt it. Try the search box in the tutorials section its in there somewhere. Tbh a wiiu without the actual gamepad alongside is a bit silly and makes the console pretty much redundant anyway! I cannot see the point in using a wiiu without the gamepad, it sort of takes all the fun out of using the wiiu in the first instance..

I don't have CBHC installed....or Haxchi, I just have .IOSU. How is this going to help me?

True but if you installed the homebrew launcher version 2.1 as a channel to your wiiu menu then you can access homebrew to launch ftpiiu & filezilla and do it that way! You do know there is a channel you can install to your wiiu menu and access homebrew that way?
https://github.com/dimok789/homebrew_launcher/releases

Remember the channel version sometimes is a bit iffy to use so if you tried to launch the .elf version and then tried the .rpx version you might get a black screen so you need to always revert to your .rpx/channel version on your tv menu for the time being which should work ok.

I have a version of Homebrew channel installed on my Wii U home menu, I think it is 2.1, but I am not sure. Although whenever I start up my Wii U the channel just crashes by showing an error message that I cannot get out of. I would have to power cycle my Wii U in order to get out of this error.

At the bottom of this page there is what looks like what you are looking for maybe
https://github.com/dimok789/homebrew_launcher/issues/28
I think I was not clear on my problem, lets say I go to loadiine.ovh normally on my Wii U without the gamepad. When I hit activate on that website it will throw an error and I cant get access to the Homebrew channel. The Homebrew channel that I installed on the Wii U menu does not work when I launch it upon startup. I can't do anything on the Wii U without IOSU

Here is the SD card https://imgur.com/a/afGGo

Note, that I just have the files for Haxchi on there, I do not have any DS VC game installed on my Wii U

Is probably the SD card wasn't read properly. The sd card slots on wii u is pretty bad, so maybe try blowing into it and reinserting it a few times until it works. If you need to check, Load the vwii menu and look at the bottom left, the sd card should be blue, if you can access it like normal, then it should be inserted properly, just try again.

Still I wonder why other people are telling you such other stuff you didn't ask, the first post was about "How can you control the homebrew loader without GAMEPAD" which i hope i answered. Someone really should have done something about that. Unless i missed the part when you asked for help on something else. :ninja:

I really do not think it is the gamepad that is at fault, as whenever I click the activate button on the loadiine.ovh link the Wii U console asks me to turn on the Wii U gamepad, whcih I do not have. Therefore I am forced to hit cancel and I get an FGS Mountsouce failed. Homebrew launched flawlessly with gamepad, now it is not.

Please re-read my statement, I did not say the gamepad was the problem, I said the sd card might not have been recognized by the wii u system. Remove the sd card, blow in to the card slot, and reinsert it, also maybe clean the contacts as well. :)
