Advertising is a very different field and totally separate to game development, regardless of this ad being made the final sale cost would still be the same.
I mean, you're almost arguing against the very existence of advertising here, should Activision stop making ads for Call of Duty and Destiny too?
I think ads are silly too but statistically they sell games.

I'm also not huge on the song.

Nah but there is a difference between paying insane ammounts of money for lots of people doeing something only partially related to the product and showing some ingame scenes or printing a few pictures ...

Videos like this will probably not get anyone who is not interested to buy this game.
And many people like me would be more interested in ingame scenes as in this ... seeing that the games great (with ingame scenes) would give me more reason to buy than this.

So many Commecials nowadays are so bad and sometimes you can not even get what they want to sell to you XD

I think the opposite, people who are interested in the game are probably already completely aware of the game and need no additional fanfare to go out and buy it, adverts are not designed for the average consumer, they are designed to grab the attention of people who otherwise wouldn't be looking towards the product in question or maybe on the fence, infact some adverts are designed to rub people up the wrong way because professional ad producers know that sometimes negative/hysterical press is a easy way to raise awareness without paying mega bucks to other companies to ram it in people's faces

Nintendo should stop wasting money on stuff like this -.-V

Making this Music including Video and whatever was probably very expensive ... would have been better to lower the price of the game 1-2$ instead of making this.

btw. the music is very bad and unfitting for Super Mario
Haha, good joke.

Nintendo is a billions dollars empire, an ad like this cost like... 1-2 millions at best? Just a chum change from their revenue. Plus the game wouldn't be cheaper just because it spend less on PR, they will still charge you the same with or without it.

Also this isn't just for the game, it also for the ip and a good publicity for the company. This show how big and powerful Nintendo are, having enough money and connection to make something like that for their game is not something any game company could do.

Big live action trailers are nothing that special these days, companies have been doing it for years.
I never really particularly cared for them myself, waste of money, just show actual gameplay.

Only big companies are actually have money for this kind of stuff. You won't see someone like, say Atlus doing those kind of thing.

Once you become a curmudgeonly party pooper you stay that way, be careful! :teach:

There were already three or four gameplay trailers before this, and this one even includes gameplay also. Never hurts to "switch" it up.
