That switch looks really flimsy -- like it was cut out with a knife. I guess it's more convenient that flashing between DS and ntrboot modes though.
Wish someone would just clone the ak2i with a better fitting shell and update its bootloader for 11.6.

What's wrong with the ak2i? The shell on mine is fine, and one cool think I noticed after installing ntrboothax on it, is that the card logo is the original ak2i one and it actually runs fine on my n3ds now. Something it didn't do before which is why I had retired it. So glad it's working again now. (does it not work on latest firm on o3ds?)

It doesn't seem like they modified any open source software. They really wouldn't need to.
Their pre-flashed ntrboot b9s is likely just a stock release binary.
It doesn't matter if they did or didn't, they need to release the source upon request. That's how the GPL3 works, which is what they used to make this project.
It's perfectly fine for them to be selling this product and using NTRBoot, but we can't allow them to violate the GPL3.

The would entail just dropping this link:
https://github.com/SciresM/boot9strap

There, it's done :P

If that's all they did, that's perfectly fine. But I am referring to the NTRBoot code that they are using for this cart. We can't be sure if the source was modified to work with this cart or hardware was modified to work with NTRBoot without the actual source of exact of build of NTRBoot used on this cart. I am sorry, but this is simply how the GPL3 works.

Lilith, that link contains the ntrboot firm code. It's completely separate and black-boxed from the flashcard vendor's bootloader stuff (which is proprietary save for the Nintendo game code - of course they don't care about that).
The r4i-b9s team was using a modified ntrboot_flasher, there is no such thing here for the ace3ds X. It isn't needed because of the DS/3ds switch feature.

Expect the team behind the Ace3DS still needs to be one to release the source code for the exact build of NTRBoot running on this cart. By saying that this cart is running "NTRBoot," then they are acknowledging that this cart has GPL3 software installed on it. Thus under the GPL3 they have to release the source for that binary on that cart, upon request of the code.
I am not being unreasonable to ask for the source code used by the binary installed on this cart and it's not like it's going to harm them to release it. They opted to use a GPL3 project, so they have to follow that agreement.

They are from Asia. They don't care! :D

Biggest issue I have with these types of cards is cost.

If they keep the cost to say $20-30 there may be some merit, but at $40 I'd start to think you're better off buying two separate cards unless this offers something that the alternative does not.

That's assuming you don't have an alternative in the first place e.g. a second console to flash with.

I never said we can't bother them with that ;)
Fair enough.
Hopefully enough people get on them until we get something.
I actually really don't understand why these teams are so against releasing the NTRBoot code that they used. I know some people brought up "clones" as an argument, but that doesn't really make sense to me. I can already make a "clone" of this cart right now with an R4i Gold (ironically the cart they cloned in the first place.) It's not like they are going to lose anything and if anything they will gain the trust of the community.

If they keep the cost under $20, it is worth it. Otherwise, just buy R4i Gold 3DS RTS.

maybe they have version of ace3ds plus that compatible with NTRboot, i heard some time ago that some Ace3D can be flashed with ak2i frameware then flash it agan with NTRboot.

It's possible, but we really won't know if they don't release the source code.

This seems nice, yeah. I'd rather not have to constantly reflash a flashcart to hack things.

Aa lot of my friends want me to hack their devices so if I could get one of them to buy this for me it could really pay off.

As a bonus I could finally stop begging people for a copy of Superstar Ultra :D

From this site 3ds-flashcard, this card is only for pre-order and with price around $30. If they can ship it from USA later, maybe I will consider to buy from them.
