A Noob's Guide to Installing CFW on a 11.6 System Through the DSiWareHax Method After They Somehow Managed To Screw the System Transfer Up™

Hello. You may be reading this guide over the fact that Nintendo removed the option to easily transfer DSiWare from a system on 11.6 (Still being researched) or you may have screwed up and did a Low-Capacity microSD Card Transfer instead, and be thinking to yourself, "HOLY S***! I JUST DID THE WRONG TYPE OF TRANSFER AND NOW HAVE TO PAY THOSE FLASH CART W***** A LOT OF MY F****** MONEY!!!". If that is you, calm down and seek help. Next, just follow this guide and it will show you how to fix your mistake and will also detail the steps needed for this CFW installation in the quickest manner possible. Let's get to it!

NOTE: Do NOT follow this guide yet! It is incomplete and does NOT detail every step as it should! I will be sure to have it finished within a week! For now, just wait if you messed up and came here to fix your screwup (No, not your life jk)!

Welcome to Chapter 1 of this lovely guide. To start, I will go over a list of actions we will be completing in this chapter as well as going over the prerequisites for this guide.
  • A system of the Nintendo 3DS Family that already has a CFW such as Luma3DS, etc. installed and being run by ARM9LoaderHax or Boot9Strap
  • A system of the Nintendo 3DS Family that you will be installing CFW on with Boot9Strap
  • A piece of DSiWare from the eShop that is detailed on this list
  • A microSD Card and a microSD to SD Adapter (Most likely came with your microSD Card) NOTE: You only need the adapter if you are transfering from an Old 3DS
  • Both systems on 3DS Firmware 11.6
By completing this chapter, you will:
  • Learn the steps needed in order to install CFW on your 11.6 system
  • Obtain the DSiWare needed to install CFW on your 11.6 system
Now that you have obtained everything in the prerequisites list of this chapter, you may be wondering why I had you pick a game from that list rather than using any old DSiWare game. To be honest, I don't know myself. I am just writing a bit of a modified version of the guide over at the 3DS Softmodding Guide Provided by Plailect™. The reason I am rewriting it is due to the fact that it is a little on the less efficient side right now. It uses the SD or full transfer method when doing the system transfer (I will go over those a little more in-depth when we get to that section). This guide will have you use the Low-Capacity microSD Card Transfer method to save a bit of time. Now that you have your explanation, let's wrap up Chapter 1.[/spolier]
Now that you know what we're doing as far as the transfer, let's get into the piece of DSiWare you bought. The thing is, you can't use just any piece of DSiWare, as previously mentioned. If you bought a piece of DSiWare from the list in the prerequisites section of Chapter 1, you should be good to go. The only piece of DSiWare that I have personally tested is the game called Zoo Frenzy. I bought it when I was younger and transferred it from my old DSi XL. Also if you get the chance, you really should buy the game and play it. It is a REALLY good game. However, that's not what this guide is about so, let's move on to Chapter 2.

Where would I do that? I think that would be MUCH less work than writing this entire guide. I underestimated the amount of work required for this...
You can make suggestions and ask for help on the official discord listed on the Guide

Since we're on the subject of doing dsiware transfers differently, here's this:

It does work, I tested it. I think this is a better way since you don't have to run a modified dsiware game through the long and complicated system transfer process. As long as the moveable sed is transferred, everything should be ok.
btw - sudoku is just what I recommend, you can use any dsiware injection eligible game.

That is essentially the same method that I used except you buy the game on the source system and transfer to the target and then a few other steps that I'm too lazy to detail.

That difference is very important.

Also, notice the date on that pastebin.
I know what i'm talking about when it comes to dsiware transfer.

It's not THAT different. It might just be a tad longer than your method however
Another big difference with my method is that if somehow the dsiware didn't transfer or if it didn't work, you could buy a different game on the target system and not have to wait for the 1 week cooldown (assuming you made a backup of your nand on the source system like the instructions said).

Anyway, I probably shouldn't have mentioned this method here, it just kinda popped out when I saw this thread. Been stewing in my mind for a while.
If I say anything more about it, it will be in my own thread. Sorry.

Why not submit it to Plailect as an easier alternative to whatever he has posted there currently. Surely couldn't hurt and would save a lot of people a lot of time. However, I don't think it would be as common as having the DSiWare on the source system proposed to the target system as most people using this guide are installing CFW onto their N2DSXL's that come preloaded with 11.4

This method is interesting, basically your source has the same moveable.sed as the target from the NAND restore and all the target console is missing to import the DSiware from SD is a valid ticket, which is obtained by actually buying the game on the target console instead of the source, lol.

Hi, did hack the EU Zelda OOT 3DS of a friend, turns out she has Zelda 4 Swords on it, was it preinstalled or eshop on those Zelda OOT 3DS ?
if Zelda 4 sword is pre-installed on the system and not downloaded from the eshop, can I use it to do a CTR-Transfer type of hack ?
thanks for the answer^^

question why hasn't nintendo pulled/patched the affected games (more the latter) are they that bad of an exploit it can't be patched?
They DID make them untransferable if you don't own anything else, indeed

3 out of the 4 exploitable games are 3rd party (parties that have negative interest in digging out the source and fixing them, since it means work to be done for a reward of negative publicity), the 1st party one has only been released promotionally years ago so the same reasoning applies

And due to the above points, the trick for about a year has been "buy a different DSiware and replace its executable with one of the four exploitable games, obtained from a unofficial source"
