I just use MS Paint to edit stuff. I personally find the tool really hand. Some would call my art style lazy, but I at least have a style I can call my own... Wait, was I rambling?
Eh, kind of. But, what I'm looking for is a way to put edited sprites into the game, like say change the Bon Odori's title card text

Minor update to the OP that tells people source code is in the download as well.

"Patch with source code" should have the tools used. If not, maybe a readme in there explains everything? Failing that, search through the thread. Crystaltile2 was used at one point IIRC.

Okay, Long time no see.
I don't know you are remember me, I am the translator of korean fan translated version.
At that time, my programming skill was poor, and now, it's also poor.

Okay, this is joke. (But my english skill is still poor)
Rhythm tengoku has two build version.
Because original patch file was based on REV0 ver, patching on REV1 version caused game crashed.
So I fixed lz77 hack's some code and it now works.
On the picture, the left one is REV0 and the right one is REV1 with my fixed.
(Because original graphices cause game crash, so I temporalily erased english graphics)

To do support REV1 version is fix all pointers of graphics and OAM assembly files.

After doing this, I think to modify untranslated images.
And if I can, dubbing some sfx too.

Hmm...

how much of untranslated it got?
About the english logo, I think they should do more like the Japanese version instead of the official english release... I could help it by graphics but not by programming :x
also why to call it silver? since english version of DS is not named "gold"?
Anyway, you are with the korean, so... do you need any help with graphic editing? I could help if you want!

Well I'm not the original hacker of translator of this. So I don't know about this much.(like amount of untranslated graphic or reason of subtitle 'silver')
I just give some more detail to show my thank.

Well, the space of email selection screen seems too long.
Is there the more better one?

How can i dowload the patch without computer and play it on GBA4IOS on my Device (iPad mini)?
That's going to be tough. You need the patched ROM to get onto your iPad somehow.

From the OP of this thread: "The title of this hack is Rhythm Heaven Silver. Why Silver? In short, because this game's sequel was called Rhythm Heaven Gold in Japan. The name also had zero Google results before this project started."

This is written in the thread somewhere, but bizarrely, not included in the source code. I've updated the patch with source code (minor update 2017-09-14). I also added a short readme / FAQ:

W Hat from GBAtemp here.

It's been years since I looked at any of these files. No guarantee on how well they work. I took the source code from 2013-12-19 and added the Font Hack (version 4) I created for the game. The font hack IPS should have been included in the source for all these years. I don't know why it wasn't.

If you want to make your own edits, patch the unedited Japanese Rhythm Tengoku (J) ROM with the font hack before you do anything else. The font hack includes a thinner English font and a patch to the game's sprite table. The sprite table tells the game how many pixels wide each letter is. If I remember correctly, all of the patcher programs assume that the font is already patched. v4 of the font hack has a convienent 1-pixel-wide spacer character that is totally blank. "the prime symbol ′ is now set to a width of zero. useful for spacing 1px at a time"

Much of the hacking was done by other people, so I will be of limited use for detailed hacking questions.

Some unmodified graphics.

Here is some low quality translation
manechine1: Practicing
manechine2: For the best quality
Lemon(<-need more better translation)
veg:You can see these~

Also, I would be thankful to let me know any official text which remaked at 3ds version.

well, however I want to ask why 'rhythm poly' is localized to 'build to scale'?
I know that there is similar game at ds and wii version, but gba version's one has no aspect at 'building'.

Thanks to find font hack patch.
However, also about silver, isn't it better to call this game 'rhythm heaven advance'?
I think This share more common sence with other gba like 'super mario advance' or 'socic 3 advance'

We have edited graphics for some or all of those. I can't remember if they were inserted in our private version.

That's just a decision I made. I think it's what Nintendo would do if they translated Rhythm Heaven GBA. There are multiple mini games that have the same theme, but different gameplay between GBA-DS-Wii-3DS. They usually have the same name in each game. (Admittedly, the GBA version of Polyrhythm / Built to Scale is a totally different Japanese phrase than the DS / Wii phrase.)

Polyrhythm is a technical musical term that I thought most people wouldn't know. It felt out of place in a playful game like Rhythm Heaven. A lot of the translation could have been very literal. But I think the DS and Wii games are lively localizations. The Wii game translates the White Ghost name as "Sneaky Spirits". Clearly, there is precedent for changing the title of the games when translating to English.

Thanks to find font hack patch.

You're free to call it whatever you want. You can even edit the graphics to match the name you decide. I'm still happy with the name I came up with. You make a good point about other games with "Advance" in the name. Personally, I don't like games named "Advance", "DS", "Wii". It feels not creative to me. It was also important, in my view, to use a name that had not been used before. I don't want generic posts about the GBA game to be mixed with posts about the translation.

Additional useless things.
I found the way to add more text at creadit.
(If you the picture adove this sentence, You will find 'Game Design' text is at worng position.)

I don't know who would care about this.
Whatever, rhythm tengoku has so much a lot of file and pointer tables, very very alot.

For example, PCM sound data uses triple pointer! (yes, pointer to pointer to pointer)
Why this game uses triple pointer causing a lot of annoying?
It's fun.

Eh, also, is there someone who want to change the japanese voices to english?
I think it would be hard for english...
Well, when I was dubbed Remix 5 Wish ~ Couldn't wait for you, it was easy to fit for original lenth because there are some similarity between korean and japanese, but english....

Edit:
Whatever
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...IiT2xAgZ0C_Ol2BWvsmapPTtE/edit#gid=1384151218

This is the PCM sound structure table which I used when dubbing remix 5 in korean.

This is almost similar normal gba sound structure table according to the GBATEK

This shows sounds' sameple rate is 0x3443Hz, in dec 13379Hz at B lines (Well, however when i use NO$GBA, DMA transfer used 13389Hz... why?)
A line is lenth (but not same with real lenth) and f line is pointer of wav data.
H line is decmical number of f line, so if you use audacity, just use this number.
(use bit rate mode (nnn, nnn, nnn, nnn samples) instead of time mode (@nn:nn:nn.nnn))

there is very a few information because i didn't write.

wellIi don't think you need to work on this...
See, you explained about the rhythm poly... and I think one big charm of the fan translation is not being like the official is, because being official don't means it's any better than what a fan can do actually, and you did your way with what you had! ! I think you don't have to change these names! And the "official" don't even cared for this game :/
Of course, it's up to you

Perhaps there could be an original version as well as a version with the official titles.

By the way, a Reddit user by the name of S3K_Stage made this sprite based on Megamix's English Quiz Show sign:

I would love to see this in the actual ROM if you could use it and give them credit.

I believe Built to Scale, the E-Mail room and some of the extra games still need some English graphics too.

Well, I know that Megamix's one has his face at there, but I don't know why this is here.
If I have a time, I'll work about this.

Yes, I don't need to change these names to official, but I believe this work can prevent some confusing.
On the YouTube, for example, both of MARCHER and MARCHING ORDERS are used.

And Rhythm Poly was... I just curiosed about that there is no elements of "Building", but name is 'Built to scale', not 'Sent to scale'
