If you're going to suggest something to be away from Slut, then why not "Sulto"? Sult is easy to mis-read as Slut.
Because Sulto puts to much emphasis on the "to" of Suruto, unlike the Japanese pronunciation, where the ru and to are equally emphasized and blend together more than saying Sulto. That's why I mentioned Sult.

And just because it can be misread as Slut doesn't make it bad like Slut.

Surt is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surt (refers to the giant from Norse myth)
So I agree with cyberakuma.
I don't know about this character or the one from Norse myth, but that name sound.
It may not have been what they were going for, this is the only name like this in the game, the others are either human or fantasy names.

It's very often in japanese game the staff make error with non japanese term and romanji. By exemple, in the official Fate stay night Artbook, the officiel romaji name of Saber is Saver.

And like I said, in Shining Tears Shielda ended being Shildia and Aira Blanc neige Guardiana ended being Aira Blanc Neige Gardenias(in Shining Tears and Wind) and Aira Blanc Neige Galdinius in Blade.

I don't recommend to use official translation name but those who seems to be the more accurate

Thanks for mentioning that, I hadn't known about Surt. Makes Sulto even further away from the intent haha

Good news that this project has gotten some attention. How are things going? Do you still need help? Let me know. I can help with translation if needed. I don't know how many people you have working on this, but let me know.

  • The story has already been translated. Can you use that?
I'm aware of the translation work done by cyberakuma. But I've yet to find any way of directly contacting him. His blogs don't seem to provide any contact details and his various website profiles have messaging disabled. If anyone knows of a way to get in contact with him, I'd appreciate the help. That said, it doesn't feel right for me to use his work without first getting his blessing. And even if that happens, it's not as simple as just copying and pasting it into the game. It will need to be edited, not just for grammar and spelling, but also for line lengths. And because I am not a translator, I cannot verify the quality of the work myself.

Found this in one of his FAQS:
mechgouki said:
Code:
Q: Can I contact you?

A: Only if you have a contribution.

Quite frankly, if you need questions answered, you may be better off asking
   the other FAQ writers.

All Emails must have Rockman/Megaman Zero 3 in the subject title.

All Emails must contain a Contribution. This includes, but is not limited
to: Unknown facts, helpful tips, mistake corrections,
constructive suggestions. Emails without any contributions will be
   deleted and blocked.

If you want to ask a question, you must have a contribution first.

USE PROPER ENGLISH! NO ROMS REQUEST! NO FLAMES OR HATEMAIL!

If you keep this in mind, you can contact me at:
   cyberakumamechgouki (at) yahoo (dot) com

Remove spaces, and replace brackets with correct punctuation.

Remember, if you do not follow any of my instructions, I will delete and
   block your email without hesitation.

I don't know how he'll react to questions about his translations, but at least it has his email address.

Not if he doesn't share the tools and source code.

Two people figured it out before, neoxephon and StorMyu, maybe a third person can figure it out too. I am busy with other projects and can't help.

Regarding mechgouki, he said he wants the character names he has chosen to be used and as long as that is abided by his translation can be used, as posted on his website. neoxephon said he'd discuss with the team and decide what they are going to do; I presume the final decision will be announced at time of release. See here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/translation-shining-blade.424348/page-2#post-6561655 The other option being to retranslate everything. It looks like cyberakuma/mechgouki translated around 25% of the game (all main story) so still a lot of work regardless. I can't vouch for the accuracy of that count.

INTRODUCTION

Hello! This is a fan translation project for Shining Blade. The aim of the project is a full translation to English and, as of writing this thread, I have been working on it for about a month.

That's a month of hacking and programming to lay the groundwork for the project. And now, I've gotten pretty close to the point that I need someone to fulfill the role of translator because that is one area that I cannot do myself. So, here I am, announcing the project to get the word out and seek help.

UPDATES

5/19/2016 - Released the first test patch internally to the team.
4/28/2016 - Finished dumping all of the text to spreadsheets.
4/27/2016 - Project announced.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • I want to help. How can I?
It depends on what skills you bring to the table. If you can contribute something useful to the project, send me a message here on GBAtemp.
  • Where can I download the patch?
There isn't any download available at this time, please check back in the future.
  • When will it be done?
    When it's done.
  • What are your plans for patch releases?
We're aiming for a periodic patch releases, with the first one being the completed menu translation.
  • Why aren't you doing an open translation?
On the surface, opening up the translation spreadsheets to the public and letting anyone contribute what they can sounds great. But in actual practice, it creates many problems and does not work. I'm not interested in random people adding machine translations because they think that this will help speed up the project. Also, it'll end up creating inconsistencies with the tone and feel of the dialogue. If we have an established group of people working on the project, we can establish standards and keep the quality level up, while also having communication, which an open project does not provide.
