Well looks like the final chapter in the NES classic isn't written yet :D

Wonder if they'll fix the security problems - let's hope not.

They didn't have enough time to fix it, persay. The most they could have done was disconnect the data transfer ability, which can be soldered back in. It will be a matter of whether we can soft mod or hard mod it. But, hacking, ain't gonna be an issue. The issue is in whether or not you will want to take apart your SNES Mini and solder it, if necessary. We may get lucky and find Nintendo didn't find it worth bothering with, due to time constraints.

Using 2.17d

Running into a C6 error with Retroarch.

All the games play fine until I use a suspend point with a RA game. From then on, RetroArch will not open any games - and gives me a C6 error every time.

I then uninstall everything and reinstall once again. Then the same thing happens. All games will work great until a save state is used. Then it crashes again.

I tried the INIT file replacement to no avail.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thank you for your time.

Which system are you attempting save states on?

The NES Mini:

Only installed 715 NES Games

No other console games

You can have one of several issues. 1. Using bad rom sets. 2. Having improper folder management. 3. Improper Command Lines, and so on...

I would suggest you uninstall ALL HMODS, and use the ones in my set that I compiled, put together, revised, and so on...

https://www.reddit.com/r/nesclassicmods/comments/6j2zoo/the_mega_hmod_thread/

First try this. As you add the games, (making sure you install Standard RetroArch from my Set, which has both updated Nestopia & FCEUMM), at the end of each command line, leave a space, then put in one of the following arguments...

--retroarch --fceumm

OR

--retroarch --core nestopia

Either of these commands will ensure you are using Nestopia or FCEUMM instead of the default NESC Emulator, which has a lot of issues with many mappers.

If you still have issues, then, you likely have Good-Set NES roms, with md5 hash checksums that just aren't optimal for the NES Classic Environment. You will want to switch over to using No-Intro Set. Keep in mind, don't take these names literally. They are just release groups! Good-Sets are amazing. They just don't work quite as well on the NES Classic, as they do on other Set-ups!

Lastly, use Folder Management, and I would recommend 30 Games per folder, to guarantee 4 save states per game. Once you bypass 30 per folder, you start losing save states.

I have never had an issue with saving NES Games, as I have always followed the above criteria, as far as my set-ups.

You can see a general set-up I use, at 2500 Games, and still with no C2, C5, C6, C7, nor C8 Errors, because I addressed the Memory Limitations as well as I could, considering. C6, for the record, is a read error, similar to a CD Skipping. So, one of the things I mentioned, should take care of your issue.

-UPDATE 9-11-17 (Many changes to the HMOD Set, once again! Including, multiple Core Updates, as well as command line revisions, Bios adjustments. And, I updated RetroArch again, particularly Nestopia & FCEUMM. I completely removed FBA standard CPS2 HMOD, as FBA 2012 CPS2 is technically the same thing! So, stick to running CPS2 with MAME 2003, MAME 2010, or FBA old or FBA 2012/CPS2:) Just do not forget to install the Bios for it! Highlights of THIS Update, include Commodore 64 Update (Vice), that allows keybinding of ALL keyboard keys! It is completely awesome! I will do a video on it! I also put together a (Bios) Genesis Plus GX Lock-On (You can do several really cool tricks with it!) HMOD, which I will do a video about, probably tomorrow, along with the Vice Video:) Expect some other interesting videos this week, as well! I am gonna do one about, "Is Contra really that hard!?", then a 5000 Game Build Video!!! To get 5000 Games, requires very careful planning! Enjoy the Updates! As always, I would recommend deleting the old set and replacing with the New! If you have any questions about general set-up, I am always welcome to private messages!

Without further ado!

I was looking at this post and I saw the capcom CPS 2 games mentioned which I have been able to get working. However, I have had no such luck with CPS 1 games like Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting. What core do I need to run CPS 1 games? I have tried the mame2003 and the FBA CPS 2 core but those don't work for some reason.

Please advise?

You need the proper rom set. I actually did a video about this:) CPS1 can run with FBA/MAME 2003, as well as MAME 2010/FBA 2012/FBA CPS1. Many games are completely different rom sets, and will not work on MAME 2003, but will on MAME 2010. And, vice versa. Most sites carry the latest versions of rom sets, which already makes MAME 2010, 7 years behind, rom set wise! You can watch my video on it, then learn about using the proper rom sets, for each pertinent set-up. As a frame of reference, however, you can also watch my Neo-Geo Bios Overview video. This sort of placates MAME 2003/FBA sharing much of the same rom sets! And, MAME 2010/FBA 2012, also sharing much of the same rom sets:)

Hi,

Sorry a bit of a boring admin question. How do I send a PM? I can't see the option.
I want to ask KMFDManic about experiencing his Ultimate Set-up

Hehe, Click someone's name from their profile pic, then Send PM.

Sorry this is sooo embarrassing, I have used forums before, but I just cannot see 'PM'. I can get to your 'Profile Page'. Maybe you have to post so many times before the option is opened up? I tried looking on the Board FAQ but did not see anything.

5000 Build.jpg

I am still playing around with a few swap outs, as far as SNES, GENESIS, GBA, etc. But, here it is 5218 Game Build. It will be cut down to 5000, so I can have the perfect mix of quantity and quality:) Video to be posted in a day or two:) By the way, HMODS are already installed, which is why the Max MB is at 298.9 I got it up to 336.9 for Free Total Space with a few tricks, then figured in the 5000+ Games + HMOD combinations:)

Your updated RetroArch worked like a charm. All is well on my end.

Thank you Bro!

No problem. There are actually many things I changed in the updated RetroArch. Sram save ability with N64 Games is just one of them. I have been revising, updating, compiling, whatever I could feasibly do, within reason. Some, tend to be counter-productive, if you go too far forward. Others, make a drastic difference. The MAME 2003 in my set, I was able to exploit to run System 32 Games, such as Spider-Man, Golden Axe Death Adder, Jurassic Park, etc. Previous and Newer versions of MAME 2003, do not have this ability. You may also see I did several different Bios Configurations. Bios are absolutely necessary in several cases. But, I did them in such a way to help reduce overall space used, depending on any given set-up. Enjoy the RetroArch. I will be updating it yet again, along with several other Cores, within next few days.

KMFDManic!!!
I've read this in a mini nes forum if it helps, maybe you can get more roms to your magnificent v2 pack when you launch it. !!!!

electrosar:

After tens or hundreds of hours ... I already lost the account, of fretting, I found something VERY INTERESTING. I found a way to compress recreational games !!! this will work only with those games that are compatible with the great core FBA (_km_fbalpha_9_10_17.hmod - latest current version of the nesclassicmods web), since those that I want to run with mame2003, for example, will not run the games if the I zip with 7-Zip. With FBA are executed many games of neogeo among others. For example, Metal Slug 3 I can compress from 77mb to 58mb ... this is a great find! The steps are the following:

1 - Check first that the rom is compatible with FBA, the vast majority of neogeo are, in the route of command you have to put / fba

2 - Once we have the compatible roms that we want to compress, what you have to do is with each of them, unzip the .zip and with the loose files back compress them but this time with 7-zip (no subfolders)

3 - Drag to the hakchi the compressed file, and in the command route change 7z by fba

The games run perfectly and are saved without problems (with FBA there are not as many problems as with the mame2003 in savestates) You will notice that you compress the rom and you will save with each of them a good peak getting that extra capacity so longed for in our beloved mini. I hope you are of help ... to me of course yes!

Waiting we are all for your torrent link with your magnificent work of 5000 roms !!!

Really cleaned house on several things I wanted to get done in my v2.5 set, over the last couple days. I will be updating the Core Set, yet again, within the next several days! Also, be sure to check back for videos I plan on posting soon! These will include "5000 Game Build", "Is Contra really that hard!?", and "Genesis Lock-On Technology". I found a very funny glitch involving Rewind in a particular game, that will be in my "Contra" video. I will also give a few tips on beating Tyson! I hope to have all 3 videos, and Cores Updated within the next few days!

NES Classic - FU Mike Tyson:)

Arguably the hardest challenge in any videogame that comes to mind. This was meant to be a longer video, showcasing several more games. But, my phone inconveniently decided to split the video apart. So, watch the rest of it, in the "Is Contra really that hard!? video, that I had also posted:) Enjoy the video!

NES Classic - Is Contra really that hard!?

Overview of a several games that are classically known for their hard challenge. The Mike Tyson portion was meant to be in this video. But, my phone decided to inconveniently separate them:) Since I am adamant about never editing my videos! It is being posted separately:) Enjoy the video!
