how do i get images from opening.bnr ??

Was looking the same, but couldn't find any tool, and the extracting process and edition is pretty complex, didn't help that Wii is pretty old now and most of the devs move on.

simple way to extract opening.bnr is with the dolphin emulator:

then
Screenshot_2.png
or with wit:
first get a file list from the game :
example:
Code:
wit files SMNE01.wbfs > smnelogs.txt

now open the .txt and ctrl+f for opening.bnr
Screenshot_4.png

copy the line from just after the period
... use that line to extract the .bnr
Example:
Code:
wit extract SMNE01.wbfs --files=+/files/opening.bnr --dest=D:\smne01
Screenshot5.png

opening.bnr dissemble or screenshot

Play the banner and take a screenshot

Unpack the opening.bnr and build a picture

just play the .bnr and take a screen shot:

or unpack it and use the images:

good time to grab the sound.bin if you want to use wav2btsnd and make custom loading sound from the original game while the .tga's are showing

now turn the tpl into png

Even easier, if you have USB Loader GX it generates a "cache_bnr" folder that contains all your games bnr. Now I took a screenshot to one of them it looks terrible

It doesn't even match with the Wii VC rectangular inner frame, what do you think? Should we use this or our own?
