So, this one time.. At band camp... I asked a girl what she wanted in a man.. She responded "argghh"... Then I remember i was at a psych ward receiving "help" for my fake disease.

Best way I could explain this poll.

I'm on 2.1.0 and I keep my Switch as low as possible. I have precommanded Mario Odyssey, and I will update even if it's >3.0.0.
I don't think we will se homebrew before a long time.

I think the number of consoles in all honesty that support homebrew is crazy... I mean seriously, how great is homebrew gonna be in any real capacity right now, And why are people so hype for it, RIGHT NOW. Your money would be better spent on a console that either a) has games you feel you want to pay for right now, or b) a good console that has piracy and/or homebrew you want right now. The Switch is not gonna give you both. If you want a Switch now, and you aren't a dev, get one for the games. This is by no means saying "no dont wait for piracy" or even me caring about whether or not you pirate or play homebrew on your Switch. If you want a portable system that will probably play the same homebrew Switch will for the next year, get a shield Portable, the homebrew options are crazy, or get a Shield TV, to where its the closest to Switch you will get in terms of power, and even has Borderlands and Metal Gear Solid for dumb cheap... I'm just saying, its your money do what you want, but it seems getting the new thing, to do something like 4 or 5 of your systems can already do better RIGHT NOW is pointless...

I'm updating and enjoying games now because you could get hit by a bus tomorrow and have never played anything fun with a console on super low FW that may or may not ever see homebrew or back up loading.

I don't care about piracy that much.
I only use it for multiplat games i've already bought. (Buying Shovel Knight on Wii U and pirating it on 3DS)
Maybe trying a game without a demo only to delete it later.
Honestly I think the piracy software should be hidden away for as long as possible ;)
...Or at least until switch EOL.

All this hype is way too soon. Wouldn't you rather enjoy the next 12 months of exclusives instead of waiting to see if maybe you can get yet another version of RetroArch?

Backup loaders yes. Emulators, probably not. Many people are more excited about the idea of save backups and save hacking than emulators.
I'm sure there are plenty of people who want that stuff, but what's the point in being able to mess with saves for a handful of games over enjoying the next 12 months of exclusives? I'm not saying it will take 12 months to get the first homebrew, but there's a good chance it will take that long till something allows playing the newest games on such an old firmware (if at all).

BTW, I don't even own a Switch so no bias here. My main point is that I think it's too early in the console's life right now.

And that's your opinion. For some people none of the games currently announced are worth updating for. I personally don't currently really care about odyssey, which is really the only currently announced game that people may update for. Along with that many people already don't buy a ton of games anyway with their systems and will be more than happy with their current library for a while.

I would fully expect the pirates to stay put in the hopes they will get all the upcoming games for free. I just think they are the only group who have a legitimate (sic) reason to do so. IMO, the true homebrew scene for Switch will involve a much more matured version of the system software than 3.0. Then again, I'm patient enough to wait a few years for that to happen, whereas most people would rather believe it's now or never.

Simple homebrew probably will get on later firmwares (though probably very late into the switch life). But future homebrew that will require something like CFW probably won't without another big vulnerability like the one that was patched. And things like NTR CFW for 3ds wouldn't be able to function on simple userland homebrew. So yes, people are waiting for piracy, but also for homebrew that couldn't happen without the larger exploits to come on lower firmwares.

Switch is on V2.00 and a second one on 3.02 for legit use. I'm a collector/modder/gamer that has 1000's of games and hardware worth £25000 to me keep busy for a long time, as I'll wait for a usable exploit
