ive got Zelda however when I try to launch the game it's telling me I need to download game data first. I cannot download the game data unless I update my switch past 3.0. Just wondered if there was a way to get past this? If I didn't have access to the internet at all how would we play it?

Ok, I think I've come to the conclusion that I don't think at the current time its possible to update your game without actually updating the system firmware :(

That would be rather unforunate, I want to update Arms but won't risk it, np though

UPDATE:

I may not take the risk due to the fact you have to turn on Internet again, No probs, Arms update isn't a massive deal

An non-updated Switch is useless. Piracy is still years away and will end up working on the latest firmware. What happens when Mario Odyssey comes out? You just going to not play, just so maybe you can get piracy slightly sooner? That's ludicrous.

I don't really have a Nintendo Switch. But, I am guessing that it's not like the Wii U; where you can just launch the game while it's updating in the background. So, the best thing I can think of is to just disable your Internet Connection. Which, would result it in not looking for Update Information. Unless, it caches Update Information for games and software.

Problem is update info is already downloaded

And that is entirely your opinion. You're allowed to have yours, we're allowed to have ours. They don't have to align.

No, that's fact. Your Switch can't run homebrew yet of course. It can't run any current game online. It can't buy new digital games. It can't run any future game that requires updates, which will be all of them. It's practically a brick. We are years away from useful exploits and your firmware will end up being too low. You spent all that money on a Switch just to play stupid ARMS offline?

That's what I don't get as well. Do people really buy a console just to keep it in a closet or a drawer for possibly years until hacks come out? That seems wasteful especially when they are in such short supply and there are lots of people still trying to get one who would get more enjoyment out of it.

That's literally what i'm doing today when I go pick up my switch from Gamestop. I understand where you are coming from, but I value homebrew over retail games simply because I can always play those retail games at a later point in time, meanwhile the exploit may only be available at a certain amount of time before the hardware starts shipping with a newer version of firmware that is not exploitable. As for me being the person taking away a switch from somebody else, if they really wanted the switch they are allowed to grab a switch for themselves, i'm not pushing other people out of line to grab a switch for myself. If you can't find a switch in your area right now, you should keep an eye open on various different websites and stores and resellers to grab the switch from, somebody may even be selling a switch on craigslist.

That's actually not true. If a person wanted one and barely afford it there is still other things that people need to live on and don't have/can get well paying jobs

Oh boy, another one of those people that are so inept they cannot discern the difference between fact and opinion.

An non-updated Switch is useless. Piracy is still years away and will end up working on the latest firmware. What happens when Mario Odyssey comes out? You just going to not play, just so maybe you can get piracy slightly sooner? That's ludicrous.
Several things wrong with your post. Firstly, the "working on the latest firmware" is what you are saying, but the devs have clearly stated several things against that. They have said the switch has very good security. They have stated they aren't even looking at anything above 3.0 right now, so it's safe to assume work on 3.0.1+ will probably not even happen until we get something for 3.0 and lower. And again believing we will get hacks on latest firmware cause "Nintendo" is stupid, especially given the security wasn't entirely developed by Nintendo, but also includes security by Nvidia. And given with how quickly it's getting hacked, I wouldn't be surprised if we got homebrew in about 12 months. And we aren't all waiting for piracy, we are also interested in simple homebrew for things like making backups of save games and save modification. And lastly you're assuming everyone cares about mario odyssey. Not everyone does. I've never been super interested in the open-world mario games, and frankly I'm still not extremely sure I'll be getting odyssey. Maybe later, but I'm not running out to buy it day one.
And on top of that, some of us are perfectly happy not owning a billion games. Most system I've owned I only get about 10-20 games and stick with those games, at least until piracy happens. I don't play online either, meaning I'd be more than happy with my current library of games for at least a year. I mean back when I got my 3ds I only had mario kart 7 for the first two years.
So while you may have your opinion that waiting is ludicrous, for some of us it won't even be anything unusual or difficult to do.
