Nintendo Ends Miiverse This November In Japan

img_0.jpg
Launched back in 2012 on the WiiU, Nintendo's social network is officially closing down this November 8 in Japan.

After shutting down, accessing Miiverse will have the following error codes 115-5004 for the Wii U and 015-5004 for the 3DS:

The over 70 Wii U games and over 20 Nintendo 3DS games that have Miiverse features in Japan will be left feeling empty after the service shuts down, as illustrated in Super Mario Bros. U image below:

No word if or when Miiverse will be affected in other regions. However, it shouldn't come as a surprise since the Nintendo Switch does not use Miiverse features. Time to move on, I guess.

This news is the big sign that no updates will ever be pushed to the WiiU anymore to me... maybe one for the DLC2 of zelda BOTW but i doubt about it.

It's because pedophiles were using it.

Well the statement that Nintendo gave out made no mention of pedophiles, although a Kotaku article I read did specifically state that adults were arrested in Japan for distributing sexually explicit material to minors. From the way Nintendo worded its statement, it can be inferred that children were sexting with other children and adults as well.

They probably didn't want to bring more attention to it. It's like when Sony got hacked and all the PSN information (including stored credit cards) was dumped. They had to shut it down for like a week. At E3 they gave an apology, but made it sound like there was just a week-long network outage due to technical difficulties, instead of pointing out that all their users got f*cked because they hadn't bothered to patch a flaw that had been known for months.

miiverse had a good concept , however , Nintendo didnt knew how to work with it , with stuff like:
  • Unfair bans
  • Unfair modding
  • Toxic Users
  • Bad security (kudos to the people who hacked the NSMBU community)
  • Idiotic changes
at that without mention that Miiverse was on a failed console of Nintendo , Wii U. It had to be expected.

The failed console of Nintendo? I think you mean a failed console of Nintendo. Don't forget the VIrtual Boy. The Virtual Boy is what I call a truely failed console ;)

Are you sure? Otherwise I'd post all of them (30 posts per day).
Was it mentioned by Nintendo?
Statement by Nintendo: "By selecting the request button below, you can request a file containing your posts and screenshots saved in your album. This request must be made before Miiverse service ends. After service ends, you will be sent a URL via e-mail to download the file containing your posts and screenshots."
