Wii U online multiplayer will be taken down before the end of the year. Mark my words.

If anybody with web knowledge is interested:
- You can list all communities per region using offset=x.
- page_param controls community data:
|- reftime: linux timestamp, from where to start fetching posts.
|- order: asc,desc
| -per_page: how many posts to fetch. Anything above 100 make requests REALLY slow. Take care.
- You can retrieve older posts ( if they exist) from before miiverse update data loss in july 2015 by adding a /old to the community url.
nah, the only games that cost them something aditional and they could take offline down would be splatoon and mario maker (maybe Smash Bros too).
All the other games are mainly P2P so they can easily keep them going for some time.

Splatoon doesn't use regular servers. Wii U's online mode isn't going away in 2017.
If Splatoon doesn't use regular servers that would be even more of a reason for Nintendo to take them down soon. But i am not sure if you can back up that claim.

Devil's Third was taken down within an year, Lost Ravers is handled by Namco, so it is another big candidate for being taken down. In the end, if Nintendo leaves anything at all online, it might be only match making servers for peer to peer games.
But even that is at high risk of being taken down after they decided to kill something as small as Splatnet, which could have been easily adapted so Splatoon players don't lose the feature.

you're talking about games that use special features.

Splatoon's servers require separate maintenace. It wouldn't be so easy to maintain especially when all the playrers are moving on to the Switch version.

Most games's online multiplayer is P2P and Nintendo's server only provides matchmaking and that consumes minimal resources.
Even when those are taken down someone can setup private alternatives, like wimmfi and altwfc.

I'll never understand why nintendo do this? I know sony and microsoft aren't their competitors but they should learn a thing of two from them, why can't they just setup their own servers? why do they have to out source their freaking online services with each passing generation? Then shut them down so suddenly? its ridiculous, money absolutely isn't a issue for a company like nintendo its incompetence at its best.

All these games will lose features. Online on the Wii U is likely the next, Nintendo wants to erase this console.

Add laziness? Lack of consumer respect? Splatnet is a prime example of a small feature that Nintendo could just have adapted/moved to some other service's server. There was no need to completely get rid of it.

they have to drop splatnet becuase they want to sell splatoon 2.
If we were to use Microsoft's terms, it's clear that the Wii U is now officially on "extended support" phase. It won't receive any enhancements.
I'm sure they'll keep the generic online services up for a while but all non-essential 1st party services will be shut down ASAP.

Never gave a crap about it, but Miiverse shutting down means that 3DS support won't be around for much longer. Which is understandable, considering how old the 3DS family of systems is now.

Nah, miiverse was mainly a Wii U thing. 3DS users used it mostly for chatting whenever a new game was released. Very few 3DS games have miiverse-related features.

Absolute fucking bullshit. Your brain works in some mysterious ways. Know why its bullshit? The shutdown notice was found in update files in july. BEFORE this whole rpgmaker hack thing came out. https://www.polygon.com/2017/7/18/15992018/wii-u-update-miiverse-shutdown-rumors
yeah that's true i tend to forget sometimes sorry about what i said
