Secret of Mana to get 3D remake

Sony's Latin Facebook page managed to accidentally put up a listing for a remake of a classic SNES RPG, Secret of Mana. It was then quickly removed, though people had already gotten a chance to see. A few hours later, Square Enix has confirmed that a Secret of Mana remake is in the works, and will be a 3D remake of the 2D sprite-based original. Secret of Mana's remake will be out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Steam/PC, on February 15, 2018. It will feature fully voiced characters (with options for either English or Japanese voice acting), a remixed soundtrack, and local multiplayer support. The PS4 and PC release will also feature online multiplayer, while the Vita version is local only.

I got the original SNES version of Secret of Mana earlier this year in exchange for a few games I had lying around my house (which were an extra copy of Donkey Long Land 3 I mistakenly received, a copy of Brain Dead 13 for the Sega Saturn which I never really liked, and a cartridge of Super Mario Bros. 3 I couldn't play due to me not having an NES anymore), so this news is a welcome surprise. I might get the Steam version someday.

This is pretty exciting considering I've never played the original! Steam release is icing on the cake. :P

Don't expect any visual changes from current footage since this is coming out in early 2018.
If Square-Enix releases the switch collection overseas, which they should if they are sane. Please for the love of god, buy that instead and do not buy this rushed "remake". They basically took the Adventures of Mana engine and just slapped on some new models and new textures.

The above is my opinion ofcourse.

Sane and Square enix in one sentence? That a novum.
Remember, we are talking about Square who though Bravely Default wasnt worth to be translated due lack of interest in the west. Despite hunderts if not thousand of people asking for it mind you.

I mean considering that the sprites themselves in the original were as Chibi/Misscaled, the upgrade in graphics is actually very on target with the original. While we can expect a number of glitches gone (IE: the impossible whip glitches famous for speedruns), I honestly think that I'd actually go out of the way to purchase this game. It looks thus far like a legitimate lovesong to one of Square's greatest accomplishments that wasn't a final fantasy.

The shading looks fairly consistent enough you can tell with a glance that this is indeed a 3D version of Secret of Mana. No over-saturating, no over-shading, no over-redesigning at a glance. I honestly think this is a true hearted remake that keeps the soul and spirit of what's one of the greatest RPGs of all time and doesn't even butcher it. Now I just hope that the actual gameplay changes supposedly coming with it, and the rest of the game, and the addition to full voice acting, don't make me eat my words.

Actually i dont care about that. Why they make remakes, remasters HD Upgrades ? Make new games not old ones.
