Tutorial  Updated

In case someone still uses RxTools and updated to 11.3-11.5 [from experience]

I had to figure this out myself but basically if you bricked (lost access to) your 3ds emuNAND by updating to 11.3-11.5 there are no worries,
you can transfer to b9s and luma CFW much easier than you thought. You might have checked 3ds.guide and thought you had to use a guide for your emunand version but actually you should do the steps in sysNAND. The sysNAND version is 9.0-9.2 with rxtools.

I could paste the text from 3ds.guide to here but that would be unnecessary since there's probably only a few people who didn't check gbatemp before continuing to use rxtools (that's me :D).
so use the guide from
here and I'll add some extra steps to do when you are in this situation.
  • You need to make sure you are in sysNAND (of course) and have selected the guide for 9.0-9.2 which will be the soundhax guide.
  • then you will have to disable menuhax by either changing your theme or removing the menuhax from your SD card (menuhax is outdated, don't use it)
  • make sure you have plugged in your charger
  • make sure you do follow the 3rd step (which is to copy the contents of starter.zip to the root of the sd-card, make sure you replace the old one) because it is updated and the old homebrew starter kit doesn't load .3dsx files correctly, and crashes often!
when you have followed the guide to the point where you have to update your system, do this first and foremost if you want to move the contents of your emuNAND (including all cias and saves) to the luma sysNAND CFW :yay3ds: !!
do the last steps of the original guide and voilà! :toot: you can now be part of the gang!

You can't brick from updating a emunand. You are only locking yourself from accessing it with the rxtools patching since the nfirm in rxtools is very outdated. When you run luma 7.0.5 which is the last luma version to support menuhax and a9lh you are on a working nfirm until that gets patched by a update after 11.5.So the obvious solution is to install b9s and get on the latest luma version to future proof your 3ds from nfirm patches.

you are correct. but I called it being bricked since you enter a bootloop which is what also happens if your console was bricked.
and I find menuhax very unconvenient, mostly because of the success rate and how it's basically useless in Luma CFW since you dont need to access homebrew at boot, however thanks for pointing those out ^^

I feel like you are super late to the party.

Seriously lol. No offense OP, but you're essentially just quoting 3ds.guide. Thread can be locked :)

hhh I know I know, but there might be people who actually take breaks from time to time and don't keep up with the new CFW and stuff like that.
Also there are many steps I added in myself that I had to do in this situation. Also I might be blind but I don't see these steps in 3ds.guide:

Sorry for trying to help people who might actually need help.
I can understand you feel superior for having LumaCFW for over a year but RxTools was supported till 11.2 which is not long ago so I can imagine people who are clueless might need help with their systems and not just leave it be.

My best regards:bow::bow:

So first of all, the other users a right, this is a useless thread which can be locked or deleted, It is essentially just quoting Plailects guide.
also not everyone uses Luma3DS as customized firmware nowadays.
