Hi guys, I was just wondering if there was any way I could use the SD card from my o3ds "cwf" on my New3ds "cfw". I just got a new 3ds and have Luma+b9s installed on the sdcard that came with it. Is there anyway to set up my old sdcard for use with the new ds including all the software installed and saves installed? I know this isn't worded the best so I'll clarify as needed.

This would be a no, all saves, games, and files are specially encrypted per 3ds console. You would need to redownload and install games and files to the new system. and you can use a save manager to move saves from the one system to the other. You could also look at a system transfer, but all non-legit files and titles will not transfer over.

Thanks for the really swift reply. I figured it was something along those lines. So my best bet is backing up the SD card and using save mangers and re-downloading everything huh?

Uh, so they both have CFW, wouldn't a system transfer help? I mean, like the above says you could just backup saves etc and then re-install tickets after
Yes both are on CFW. I might be missing something but I dont see the point if I'll end up re-downloading everything anyway. But if it is easier/better please enlighten me. Also can anyone point me in the direction of a all around save manger?

So I'm guessing it's a micro sd being for a N3DS, do you plan on using the O3DS too or buy a new sd card maybe for bigger size - format to FAT32 then paste the files¿

Yes it's micro sd. I'll buy a new sd cad for the o3ds later. currently a near full 64GB which is why I didn't want to have to back it up.

I've gone through this. You have two options, of which I successfully explored one.

If you do a system transfer, keep a copy of your SD card contents on your PC when it you do the "move" step for pc-based transfer.

Then, go ahead and reinstall the CIAs of whatever you had, and the ticket will be on the nand. With that, you can then copy and replace the contents of your Nintendo 3ds folder, and all your saves for your 3ds/3dsware games will return, as those are stored on the SD card, and are encrypted with your user ID (which gets transferred over when you System Transfer).

You'd only lose DSi saves in that process, but GodMode9 can access those.

You can do a system transfer and reinstall the tickets after (back up on the source console before the transfer and install on the target after the transfer). All the games and the save data will move to the N3DS.
Thanks I will try this hopefully I don't lose my saves that' s now what i care about more than re-downloading the tickets. So back up the SD card, system transfer, then install games via "e shop"?

To be clear, I copy the backup files back to the sd card after the transfer is successful?

No need for eShop.
You can back up tickets with GodMode9 or Decrypt9 on the source 3DS beforehand, and restore them on the target 3DS with FBI after the transfer. Just remember to tell FBI NOT to install content from CDN otherwise it will redownload the games and wipe the saves.

Edit: The instructions I had copy pasted apparently only work with ctrtransfer now, so I removed them.

Yes, the transfer doesn't actually modify your SD card, so when you do the transfer and it asks you to move them, just copy them to your PC, and then to the new SD card. At this point, you'll have to put FBI/Freeshop/whatever back on, and install the titles that you need. After that, re-copy what you put on your PC over to the N3DS's SD card and overwrite the data, because aside from game data, the Nintendo 3DS folder contains the saves, which get deleted when you re-install CIAs.

Alternatively, I'd heard there was a ticket installer, and if you just install the tickets for the games, they will actually show up, because the data would still be on your SD card, and you wouldn't have to re-copy anything.

If i use the ticket installer, I would just have to put fbi on the sdcard and just install tickets for whats on the sdcard but wont show up?
