I think I've been goofed, I installed oot3dhax from 11.2 and updated to 11.5 and now when I try to run oot3dhax ocarina of time just crashes instead of booting homebrew. Is this something I could fix? I originally thought that it might have something to do with boot.3dsx being outdated or something.

Edit : Mod, please lock thread. It has devolved into a real mess.

Are you on o3ds or n3ds? Also from now on never update. You were on a prime firmware to install a complete custom firmware and you blew your chance by updating.
n3ds and I'm really not interested in cfw.

Many people say that, but you dont need to be interested in cfw to get it. For many people, it just serves as a way to update and not heaving to worry about things being patched. It takes 10 minutes to install, has zero bricks on record, and with disabling certain things, allows it to be used as a completely stock 3ds with the ability to enter the hbl at any point, with zero drawbacks. Believe me, it's very worthwhile, even if you have no interest in spending any time installing it, are afraid of bricks, or are completely against piracy. Anyway, to get a new entrypoint, you need one of these:

1. smash 4 and a pc running linux capable of making a wifi beacon

2. oot3d and a powersaves

3. freakyforms cartridge

4. cubic ninja

There are many other exploits, but those require a second 3ds to install, and by that point, it would be more worthwhile to use that 3ds to install cfw.

You can still get 11.5 payloads for n3DS, but they don't exist as premade saves, so you have to run oothax installer on a homebrewed 3DS, or get another entrypoint working to reinstall oothax. Should have re-ran the installer with 11.5 as version before updating ;)
CFW is not just for people that want piracy, it provides a painless entrypoint to homebrew once installed and will almost always work without needing you to update any payloads beforehand. It also gives access to some other cool things that you may not know of, like streaming the screens to a PC, cheats, game mods and a couple other things.

Guys. I don't care about CFW. I already buy all my games and I only use homebrew to emulate games. If I wanted to run CFW, I would just get a flashcart for it.

A flashcart on its own will not get you CFW. Yes, ntrboot is out now and you could use that, but the point was that you had the perfect entrypoint already available to you without spending any money.
Like I said, it's not only about piracy.
CFW also gives you access to VC injections, which often work better than homebrew emulators, for example there's GBA VC which runs on native hardware so compatibility and speed is always 100%.

Clearly you didnt read the fact that i said it was not about piracy, and clearly you are in a situation where having cfw would have helped you out. You're just acting stubborn to justify you updating your cosnole, and if you cannot meet the criteria i listed above, i would suggest buying a compatible flashcart + a powersaves since it needs something to install it or a second modded 3ds to do a transfer. Used 2ds consoles are sold for peanuts nowadays.

Holy ****, why won't you guys just understand that I do not care a single bit about getting CFW. I'm not interested, I already updated, get on with it.

Let's boil it down a bit then:

I do not care a single bit about getting CFW

That's your problem then. I don't see why you're so stubborn to the idea as it would have saved you time making a thread here (as you wouldn't have had the Homebrew issue you have now) but hey ho - shit happens.

I'm not interested, I already updated, get on with it.

Now you've just got to live without Homebrew, which wouldn't be the case with CFW but because you're so die-hard against it (even though it's been mentioned a few times, that it's not about piracy and how you can get a CFW which is JUST patches for launching Homebrew etc) you've made your bed and must sleep on it.

Mods may as well lock the thread. You can't update your Homebrew without another, non 11.5 3DS with Homebrew already running to update your save so this thread is only going to descend into drama.

I did get on with it, i just listed all of your options whether you want cfw or not. Next time research the update before updating. Mods close this thread.

...Wait a minute. You updated from 11.2 thinking that your homebrew would still work fine? Are you being serious?

If you want to be a dick towards people telling you getting a CFW, you can fuck off with your useless console.

Otherwise, get someone else with a CFW'd console and they can help you from there. I don't know why you're acting so weird towards CFW though.

Update-11-5-and-homebrew says nothing about whether the old payload works on 11.5. If it really doesn't work, you need to update the payload (which is written in the save data of oot3d). I don't know if the latest release of oot3dhax installer(in the homebrew starter kit on smealum.github.io/3ds/) can write the payload into save data correctly on 11.5 ofw. If not, you can ask for a exploitable savefile for 11.5fw here(or somewhere else) and write savefile with powersave, otherwise you may need to have a 3ds on cfw to do this.

BTW, I think you have made a wrong decision to update the system. You can still use ctrhttpwn to access online sevice on 11.2 while the 11.4 update has patched it.

I used to having the same thought like you: hey, oot3dhax is unpatchable, why do i need to install cfw to get access to hbl? However, by sending many system updates nintendo really did a lot to prevent installing oot3dhax and this really anoyyed me. Finally, I chose to install cfw on my 3ds and now I can update with no risk of losing access to hbl(and it's much easier than before since the luma 8.1 released). I highly recommend you to do this too, this will make your life easier, really.

Excuse me, when was I a dick to anyone? I said I didn't want CFW, how is that being a dick? You're just being rude to be rude.

TY for the info, the main reason I want to avoid CFW is to not get a ban & have to deal with that just to be able to play games online with my friends, ctrhttpwn never worked on my console, I'd just receive the same message again.

I'm just going to get my save files out my SD card and play on an emulator waiting for another way to get homebrew on 11.5 happens, if it does. Else I'll just emulate on my phone. Thanks for not over-reacting, though.

To look at the situation the reason they say that your being a "dick" is because there telling you what to do
and your insistent on the one way and do not really care what anyone is saying here.
Which is great and all and no one really cares how you use your console. They are just saying
CFW is the easiest way to keep homebrew or emulators on any update or console version.
The ban thing is a real concern but it can be avoided if not doing stupid things.

Already updated before I made the thread. They're not telling me what to do, they're just annoying me with cfw stuff I already told them I'm not doing. I'm fine if you use CFW, just stop shoving it in my face, and whatnot. I asked if oot3dhax is broken on 11.5 and they told me yes, and now I'm being called a dick for having updated my console when I could've installed a cfw which I told them I'm not interested in. DKB seems like a baiter / troll to me, either that or he's just overreacting.

Mod, please lock this thread. My question already got answered and its turning into a useless argument.

Man you just dont get it. There telling you basically your only option. Thats it.
Once again no one cares 2 cents what you do with your console or if you put it on CFW.
Your not being a "dick" for updating, its just more about how your replying to the situation.
The reason there shoving it in your face is because its really the number one option in terms
of homebrew and everything else.
Yes, Please lock this thread.
