Just saying.
https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSw..._every_switch_have_terrible_wifi_range_or_is/

It's NOT a problem with my internet like some idiots here were talking down to me, for.

It IS the Switch and its terrible wifi chip. Its compatibility with certain routers just absolutely sucks. I even talked to a support guy for an hour, and he was tried everything (including something he wasn't supposed to do) and based on everything he did, as well as the error code, that's the conclusion he came up with, as well.

I just wanted to say this so all the assholes who said "It's your shitty internet" will stop being condescending idiots and avoid commenting on something they know nothing about.

Smh.

tbh, I don't know how far your router is and sometimes theres just oddball inconsistencies with routers, I can't just say your internet is shit, though I am curious, what was this thing he wasn't supposed to do

It's literally 7-9 feet from me. Feet as in my feet. As in fucking walking haha.

And he said he wasn't allowed to, but he said if I'm okay with it, he will; he got me to let him control my pc remotely so he could go through my router settings.

There were a shitton of assholes on here saying it's my internet connection and that it's shit. And they were really talking down to me as if I were wrong and stupid. When really, they were just being fucktards and were wrong. I just feel it's necessary letting them know so that they stop jumping to conclusions, assuming things they know absolutely nothing about.

Also, I feel it's good to have this topic open so that others can see what's happening if they're having issues with their Switch's WiFi as well.

Yep. Sorry man.

And they were telling me that it isn't an issue that a lot of people have, and they were wrong about that too. A good amount of people have this issue.

I recently just spent a year studying networks, both wired and wireless, and did at first find the Switch's wifi to be pretty terrible. After doing my own research, I found that it really seems to be that the Wifi chip, or even posssibly the antenna, is pretty much dogshit. Had incredible range with very few routers and very poor with most.

Even in my own home, I find the Switch struggles to punch through walls, even simple drywall, of which none of the other devices I tested with ever struggled. Even my desktop, which is at the furthest part of the house, as well has a dodge antenna, connects fine to my low-end Hauwei router, where if I'm about half of that distance with the Switch, it drops signals quite often.

My guess? Either the Wifi chip in it is shit, (which I can't really see being an issue, since it also has to deal with all the bluetooth connections for controllers at the same time, a full possible 8 + wifi all at once.) or that the antenna is in an awful spot aswell as covered up internally somehow.

just make sure to change your router settings password incase it's one of the ones you can adjust remotely away from home

I have a 300 mpbs DL/UL fios connection. I usually get around 200-250 mbs per second when downloading xbone games, 150-200 mbs for ps4 titles. The switch rarely hits 50. Research shows the Chip the Switch uses is capable of hitting 125 so whats going on...the answer is simple. For whatever reason, the chip is being limited by Nintendo or more accurately the Switch's software.

You found one other person on earth who is having problems with Wifi on the Switch so EVERY Switch has a terrible Wifi chip in it? That is quite a stretch to make. If you read the update in the post that you linked, you will see that the user's issues seemed to disappear after a system restart. I had wifi issues at one point as well and a restart fixed the issues for me.

For comparison, my router is in the basement corner of our house and I am able to connect my Switch from two floors up in the opposite corner without any issues. Sounds to me that you either need to fully restart your system, you have a defective chip, or you just have a very specific combination going on that is not working. Try changing your MTU also if you haven't already done that.

Not one other person. Stop being a cynical idiot. You'll find the issue in a LOT of places. This is the shit I'm talking about. I've done all of that. I even tested a friends' switch, same thing.

And if you've read, he went through my entire router page, and did some shit on CMD to figure it out. He also said with the specific error codes (2003/2004), that it is the problem not with my internet, but with the Switch's crummy WiFi chip unable to connect to specific routers. He knows what he's talking about unlike you and the other kiddos here who were being dicks, calling me a liar.

Like I said, it's the Switch's shitty wifi chip, making the compatibility with routers utter shit.

Seems pretty likely considering how the antenna in the left JoyCon was screwed up as well.

It's pretty well known that the Switch has terrible WiFi. I've seen countless users on reddit reporting that it has much worse range than all their other devices, and I've experienced the same thing. It's objectively bad. You're just not in the right environment to notice it.

That's the very first thing that comes to mind. Our hand is blocking the signal, but being so close to the system, we should be fine. Instead they had to give the Left joycon an internal antenna over what they originally had: a trace on the mainboard. It fixes the issue, but I fully believe that's a fix more about the Switch tablets antenna, rather that the Joycon's. Joycon's would be easier and cheaper to replace..... it just adds up for me.

Only if people stop trying to be the way I've described earlier, trying to talk down to me, as if I'm wrong:)
as I said before, I don't live in your house, I don't know all the conditions, so I can't say shit for sure, so far it's been ok for me at least
