New console, same old bullshit entitlement.

Luca. owes. you. nothing.

While he has in the past showed off way more than he's released, I think he enjoyed the ego stroking his involvement in recent iOS jailbreaks garnered him.

Piracy isn't as big a motivation for jailbreakers, as it is with console hacking. Releasing a hack that brings widespread piracy to a console could be career suicide for him.

So in the end, who fucking knows. Either way, you're still not entitled to anything he's achieved.

Blah, blah, blah.
We know he doesn't owe us anything (or at least, most of us do).
Doesn't mean he (or any other dev of the kind for that matter) has to bring our hopes up only to not release anything time and time again. Gotta wonder why people become skeptical over time right?

No shit? Makes him look like an ass when he promises something and doesn't deliver. Doesn't matter the circumstance.

Of course Luca doesn't owe anybody anything. Doesn't mean people can't call out his dickwaving. That's what irks people - if devs don't want to release their exploits, fine. What people don't like is being led on.

Anyway, the current trend is for devs to keep exploits 0-day i.e. unreleased until patched. This is actually killing console hacking more than efforts by the hardware manufacturers because the platform holders don't have to lift a finger, but it's nothing new - check out the iOS scene.

Precisely!!!

I'm all for supporting devs and the work they do. However if you announce publicly that you have a hack with no intention of releasing it or simply for advertisement/epeen then that dev deserves all the negative mojo that comes with it. They announced publicly and put themselves in the spotlight. Good and bad comes from doing something like that and backlash from the hacking community should have been anticipated and expected.

The bigger issue is when devs given hints that they will release something, then don't. I don't think it's fair to accuse people of 'entitlement' in this case.

I find myself agreeing and disagreeing with your sentiment as I've been in this scene since back in the 14.4 days and am such retired since the OG Xbox but to use that era as an illustration the finders of devs would release their rough and ready exploits to the scene who would all pitch in with their innovations as the devs coded and the hackers did their thing and the leeches leeched and thus it grew at an explonetial rate and thus was the last scene in my estimation to be worth a toss as after that a new generation obsessed with epeen stroking and net fame came to the spotlight and started waving their "I've got an exploit and you can't have it because of.... reasons" card high and proud which caused the stagnation of every single scene since.

Its this bizarre combo of rampant egotism on one side and entitlement on the other that had led to the merry place we find ourselves now and boy is it a sorry state of affairs as we finally have platforms that offer more raw power than the previous generations combined and yet the self appointed gatekeepers act as they do for they are all millennium babies and know no better than they've been taught.

Sometimes an exploit isn't as relevant as someone thinks it is, is redundant because people already know about it or isn't usable to the general public. There are many reasons not to release something to the general public.

I can't comment on Lucas's motivations behind his announcement, however I do what he found is valid. That being said, once someone announces something publicly, they open themselves up to criticism and should expect it. They negate their right to be offended by comments and judgement by others because they put themselves in the public eye. Had they not been so quick to publicly announce, nothing that follows the announcement would have happened.

I have a very hard time finding sympathy in that situation.

It's mildly annoying but at this point I don't really hold my breath on releases.

But Henkaku have been spoiling us.

One thing I am wondering about (and which further highlights my "exploit while the iron/firmware is hot" perspective) is that the webkit is used as a point of entry on 4.5X as stated here:

And yet you need to be online via a PSN account to access the browser which creates an issue unless of course he's launching via another angle.

Don't see the point of showing off something that you have no intention of releasing.

Never underestimate its power to grow enormously from rabid beggars throwing false compliments and encouragement via social media.

In my opinion I would rather have an exploit later than now, people say that the scene will die, but it really won't. Other forum websites dedicated to PSX still have many users waiting most just buy a second PS4 so they don't feel pressured to update the first one. The GBAtemp PS4 scene might die, but not in other places and I am sure if the scene did die it would grow again once it is released (if ever). If it's not released it could be leaked or another exploit might be released who knows.

Yes but the issue with this SOONing is that it invariably becomes NEVERing just under a more easily digestible name. If one of y'all tweeters can I'd be interested in Lucas reply to the entry point method on 4.50 given the PSN access issue.

You mean the internet browser you must be signed in thing?

Just buy an extra ps4 and throw it in your closest.... Forget about it. 5 years down the road maybe there will be something, but I just keep updating. Doesnt matter to me really. I can play emulators on my pc and phone and I can buy the games I want so I have no interest in waiting. Personally, anytime I see someone waving an exploit around, I dont expect anything from it. That way if something does come from it, then im super excited, but if nothing does, then im not sitting here whinning and crying saying "Wheres my hax, I want to pirate stuff!"
Thats exactly what the majority of the communities do... That and ruining multiplayer, but I cant be pointing fingers with that part because of how bad I was on ps3... All well.
