I listed an original NES on Facebook in a local shop for 50 bucks.. I got an offer, a Xbox 1 S, two games two controllers. I told the dude he confused these are not rare, he can get one for 60 on Ebay, he says he dont F with Ebay and really wants the NES, him and his wife have been looking but they are usually sold by the time they find it.. Suspicious, his page is bleak, he has little to no info, a few pics, etc.. I will probably die if i meet him to trade.. But what the hell you only live once yea?

I was thinking more along the lines of make sure controller/s sync, the harddrive is attached and functions, laser can read discs, hasn't been banned, that sort of thing.

I definitely miss the old days of "bricks in a VCR box."

Well i understand that stuff like robberies and even murders can occur during these real life transactions but as the above user said. Just take a friend with you and you will be fine. (on a side note, isn't that what makes these trades so awesome? i mean since you never now what kind of person your gonna meet and whether or not said person is legit! But then again i am an adrenaline junkie who loves these tense kind of situations so what do i now?)

But seriously, after Reading the OP. To me it just seems like this dude and his wife wanna play NES games which seems like a legitimate reason. I mean the fact that he gave you that story in my book proves towards his legitimacy. But then again he could just be some creep on the internet who wants to rob you. One idea is to see if he can take a pic/vid of it connected to LIVE and you show him a pic/vid of the NES running whichever game and loading the save.
