Sonic Mania to have "competition mode"

Sonic Mania is releasing in a week, and hype and excitement are reaching a fever pitch, as the release date draws ever closer. In efforts that seem purely like agonizingly teasing fans further, SEGA has uploaded another trailer, this time, about the fact that the classic styled split screen 2 player mode is back.

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are all playable characters in Sonic Mania’s Competition Mode. Winners are determined by a few factors: clear time, score, number of items acquired, number of rings acquired when clearing the level, and total number of rings acquired throughout the level. Players can adjust the rules of each match by adjusting items in the item boxes and number of rounds that take place.

Sonic Mania will release on August 15th, for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.

Most Nintendo gamers aren't still fans of digital format, in fact, we're willing to pay more to have it on physical format.
Well I don't speak for anyone but myself. I buy what is affordable. Honestly I would like my games not download only considering most games are large in file size and should be reserved for intended download only games. Plus dlc adds to the file size and the fact nintendo still didn't bother to upgrade storage to something higher than 32GB and external SD, I would dislike not having many games as cart to purchase to save on needing to buy sd cards which are prone to fraud. :(

Not saying you are wrong but I can only say what I do and feel. Yeah some games aren't retail, but the high priced ones like shovel knight being $25 and i am setsuna, deserves some retail releases.

Actually, how it is for me is that Nintendo consoles always have a really bad digital experience. Whether it was system-locked purchases in the Wii/DSi era or a severe lack of storage space on the Switch, buying digital on Nintendo systems just isn't practical. I own hundreds of games digitally on Steam, GOG, etc. and I'm more than fine buying digital (since it's often much cheaper on PC, too). But on a Nintendo system, I always buy physical because they never include enough storage space and I don't trust Nintendo to handle digital purchases properly.

I'm going to guess that my experiences are the same for many others. I have other friends who own Nintendo consoles and buy digital everywhere else but Nintendo for these reasons.

Coincidentally it will be my 5th purchase as well. I had wanted more games by now but the prices for them is a bit out of my preference for what I seen of the game so far, and nintendo keep releasing game ports as$60 status games instead of a discount $40 of some kind, and the games that is $40 seem to me like $20 games. Again, opinions but is mine and I know some people don't care for it, just if everything that could be %50 discount, would sell better. I'm more surprised that games like Blaster Master zero and Mighty gunvolt burst is both $9.99 with FREE DLC OFFERS and still people don't buy it as much as the others.

Oh well, my way of thinking sucks and many agree, quality doesn't equal price, and neither does the content as well. Wait, my post was just noting how we have the same 5th game purchase in common. Sorry, carry on. :)

I dunno, I don't buy any games based on price, I'll pay what I have to, I just buy the games I want most. I don't particularly want Blaster Master Zero and Mighty Gunvolt on my Switch (especially since i have them both at no cost on my 3DS), and that's why I don't have those games.
