Nintendo 2DS "New Super Mario Bros. 2" bundle releasing this August

Despite Nintendo having recently released the New 2DS XL, it seems that the company isn't stopping focus on the older 2DS model. Nintendo of America's Twitter account showed off a new bundle that's set to hit store shelves on August 25th. Retailing for $79.99, it'll be a standard red and white original 2DS system, with New Super Mario Bros. 2 pre-installed. This is likely being released as a reminder that there's a budget-oriented option for Nintendo fans that aren't invested in the 3DS ecosystem yet.

Hey, a cheap way to get a 3DS with a game. Heck, two games cost that much. I like my little doorstop (MK7 ftw) and it's great if you're somehow stupid enough to break a 3DS XL hinge (me). I think even though NSMB2 is okay, they should bundle mario maker or at least a newer game.

It would be nice for $50, I remember when they were discounting the Gameboy Micros for $50...can you believe it!? Yes I bought a few of those when they were fading away.

It's great to see such cheap bundles. A full Nintendo handheld system WITH a game for not even a 100 bucks. If I didn't have already 3 3DS systems I would have bought it straight away!

Surely they're just trying to unload some stuff just sitting around in the warehouse, no?
On 8.1 if it's like mine :)

so, they're releasing a very old game and an obsolete model 3ds together... that stupid.
Better sell a small number of consoles for maybe $30 net profit, or not sell them for $0 profit?

Sounds to me like this is leftover stock that they're trying to get rid of. It's an old bundle, all that's changed are the region settings.
Would be nice to see the import.log from one of those (with all the manufacturing and OS installation dates)!

There is absolutely no reason to buy this, unless you're an unknowing cash-strapped parent looking for a cheap game system for the kids.
