Thank you again for the wonderful patch, and for your really straightforward instructions on installing NTR CFW! I can't express how happy I am to have a patch like this, I really appreciate all the hard work you've put into it. Super excited to get back into the game now that I don't have to choose between the wrong gender and the wrong sexuality. :yay:

Another dialogue line that needs line break tweaking. Also, I failed to get a screenshot for this, but Wayne still refers to the player as a woman in his light blue flower event "Milk and Crackers".

Thank you for telling me! But actually, the love/flower events haven't been fully edited yet, so that's normal. The next update will be centered around fixing those, and it will hopefully be out sometime next week.

Thanks for the patch. I've played Rune series but not the mainstream, because of this, I've decided to pick it up and try it out!

Anw, some might know this but with CFW (Luma latest version), you don't have to install NTR to use the patch anymore. There is a similar fucntion built-in Luma, it makes thing a bit easier, you don't have to use the plugin or turn on NTR everytime to play the game. Just follow the path your sdcard\luma\titles\game's title ID\romfs then put the content of SoSToT in it. Remember to enable game patching in Luma.

Personally, I actually like the Rune series more than HM/SoS, it's a shame that they never got much attention. I might do a RF4 gay hack when I'm done with this one, but I don't know if I'll ever have the time to deal with all its dialogue. I hope you like Trio of Towns, though! It's a really relaxing game and a huge change of pace compared to Rune Factory games.

(Also thanks for mentioning Luma's layeredfs! I keep forgetting to update the installation guide lol)

Edit: Updated the OP's installation guide!

Me too, I find the Rune series more appealing, it has something new and different with each game and the dungeon is better each time as well. But of course that's just me... I've tried some HM/SoS titles before actually, Trio of Towns does seems to be more relaxing, it only so much places to go. I remember trying out The Tales of 2 Towns... The forest was so big that I spent all day foraging in there and it doesn't even feel like it'll ends... Well I lost my save after that so...

About Rune Factory 4, I remember there is an option to swap the main character's sprite so that it looks like um... gay (well not really, we're still being called by the correct gender hahaha), at least the dev tries to be as neutral gender in the dialogue as possible so it isn't that bad I guess. So if you're planning to do a sprite swap and fixing the gender in dialogue then you have all of my support :yay3ds:

I definitely agree that ToT has a very limited world to explore, but HM/SoS has kind of always been that way unfortunately. Rune Factory is so much more expansive with their worlds, and I love that they have actual plots to develop their characters. And, yup, there was an option to switch your sprite in RF4, but I'm fairly sure you could only do that after you beat the game. I may be wrong though, I haven't played RF4 in forever. I do remember that the NPCs don't regard you as the gender you switched into, so it was kind of pointless imo.

If I end up doing a hack for RF4 it'll probably be months from now (if not longer) lol, but I'd like to work on one after I'm done with ToT!

Yup, the option to swap sprites was only unlocked after you beat the game (of course, the RF4 Save Editor included an option to unlock that at any time but it's still kind of rotten). The fact that gender pronouns are unaffected blows too, although there's that funny glitch with Volkanon where if you get married before reaching a certain point in the plot as Frey he'll start to refer to you as 'Sir'...

First screenshot doesn't quite fit in the box. Maybe if you used alright instead of all right? And the second screenshot is either one period too few for ellipses or one period too many for a full stop.

Oh wait, the way I write makes you misunderstand a bit... I mean I'm alright with limited world as long as it's balanced, The Tale of 2 Town is more on the foraging... I don't really like that. 3 of towns feel more balanced (to me), I don't have to worry about whether I've foraged everything yet so that I can go talk to the villagers, go fishing, mining, part-time jobs,... and so on. Only 3 towns is good :yay3ds:

About RF4, I haven't played up to that point yet but I remember the game has 3 arcs and it is unlocked after beating the 2nd arc, does that really count as beating the game though?

And well of course, finishing ToT is your top priority :yay:. If I find anything, I'll be sure to tell you, but I've only reached day 21 in Spring so I can't help yet haha.

Edit: Suddenly remebering something, if I play as a girl the game'll treat Inari as a guy...? Or a girl? Or the patch hasn't touched Inari?

Someone once posted a RF4 hack on r/3dshacks that had sprite swap unlocked saves and character voice (+ dialogue I think) swapped. He deleted his account and I cant really find his stuff anymore, but the romfs hack is still on my 3DS. If you are interested I could upload it and send it to you :)

Oh, sorry for misunderstanding! Yup, ToT has a lot of stuff to do, so that makes up for its lack of exploration map-wise. But I do wish it had more stuff to explore! Stardew Valley is a great example of a big HM styled world! Oh and as far as I remember for RF4, Act 2 was the end of the story, but Act 3 was a sort of epilogue. Or at least I think that was how it was supposed to be, since Act 2 ended with credits.

As for Inari, they haven't been touched. Since this isn't a sprite swap, yes, Inari will be a guy if you play as a girl and vice-versa. I'll probably include an option to switch their gender when I'm done with the regular marriage candidates!

Oh, yeah! Thanks for reminding me! I think I remember finding it once while I was looking for an undub. Is this the one you're talking about? The dialogue isn't edited in it, though :/ But, at least I won't have to deal with switching all the voice files now if I do end up doing a hack for RF4 ^_^

Good luck with that if you do! RF4 for the longest time topped my top 10 games list (right beside Persona 3 Portable because I can't choose between them, man if someone could do a gender swap for that I'd die happy). Leon was and always will be my baby because he's so sad. I mean, so are Vishnal and Dylas, but Leon's just got a special place in my heart just like Shinjiro does in P3P and Ford does in 3oT. <3

By the way, I hope you're enjoying/have enjoyed your break Silrae!

RF4 was a really good game, a sprite swap would definitely make me want to play it again. The only reason why I'm kinda hesitant about doing one is just because there's so. much. dialogue. There's like a mountain of it! But I do want to do one since RF4 might be the last of the Rune series (and 'cause I wanna date Margaret as Frey lol).

Also, thank you! It's been a busy break, but a break nonetheless :) I think I'll be able to finish the base of this hack before I have to start up classes again in August! After that, all I need to do is wait for the DLC to come out.

Fingers crossed that it comes out soonish! XSEED are all angels for helping bring this beautiful game over for us to enjoy, and I'm glad they decided to tackle the DLC for us too even though it's a big undertaking. Their blog is hilarious too. xD I just find that after XSEED took over localization of the HM/SoS games the quality of the translation just skyrocketed.

I'll be waiting for your version if you ever end up making one :P

Oh, don't be sorry! I'm the one who should be apologizing for making you misunderstood.
And I agree that bigger is better, as long as there are more stuffs to do besides foraging, it's kinda haunting me.

That's great, I'd like to marry Inari (girl version) as a girl :) Thank you, once again!

If you need some help with editing RF4 dialogue file, I'll be glad to lend you a hand. Of course, that is if you want to.

Remember when I said last week that a new update would be coming around this week? Weelll, that might not be the case anymore. Unfortunately, some family matters came up and I haven't had the time to work the hack as much as I thought I would. I'm still going to try and get it done by the end of this week, but I don't know if I'll be able to work that fast, so this is just a heads up for anyone waiting that it's most likely going to take a little bit longer for the next update to release.
