About time.

The Hori Pro Controller for the Switch is coming out on July 31st and as per the photos provided by Amazon, the d-pad has two different uses. You can use the normal-ish directional pad or like the "d-pad" that's on the left Joy-Con.

Price: £26.99 @ Amazon UK

wondering what length the cord will be on this, it would need to be a good length if being used in tv mode if the console is far from where you are sitting

I suppose its an option for those that want a cheap third party option. But it looks pretty bad to me, and generally I like Hori's products. I'll stick with the official Pro controller.

Eww... why are the face buttons curved?
Probably to match the controller's curvature. The official Wii U pro controller is like this, too. I'm guessing it's the same with the Switch one.

No thanks. I think I will wait and buy the pro super famicon controller from 8 bitdo instead. visually their controllers more appealing then both the hori and official pros. For what it is worth, I expect Nintendo controllers to look flashy compared to the other guys but still function 100% longer before needing a replacement.

I appreciate what 8bitdo is going for with the pro super controllers, but I'm not a fan of those either, they're essentially just wireless versions of the original Wii classic controllers. And what those controllers taught me is that if you're going to have analogue sticks, you really need proper grips for your hands. The dogbone shape works for the standard 8bitdo Super controllers mimicking the Super NES controllers without the analogue sticks though, and I think I may soon get one of those. But otherwise I think I'll stick with the official pro switch controller.

The NES30 Pro and SFC30 Pro both look really good but the shoulder and trigger buttons are next to each other so I'm not sure I'd like that, personally.

Nintendo has effectively killed majority of potential buyers for this controller thanks to the new firmware update. :P

It looks really good and nearly identical to the Xbox 360 controller (^_^).

here's a review from a Japanese lad who got one early

That's a shame. The controller looks pretty good but he tested it out and if the d-pad isn't very functional at all then might as well get a different third party controller which there are plenty now.

What the hell happened to HORI?

Yep. If you count the joy cons as two, I have five controllers for my Switch now that I've bought a GC USB adapter. That's added to a Switch Pro and a NES30 Pro.
