Just because a CFW has less features doesn't make it superior.

To me and many others there is no "Superior CFW" There are only CFW which provide varying degrees of flexibility to it's users. What features does each individual user require will vary, hence their CFW choice will not always coincide with another users CFW choice. Most of my comments have been along the lines of what I desire in CFW not that any one CFW reigns supreme.

Because there's an audience that likes minimalistic CFWs, where they don't have to think about it...
You don't have to think about Luma either if you press one button.
Why are you making such a big deal out of a single button press?
Did he say that having less features makes it superior? No. All CFWs are on an equal playing field, as they all do the same thing. It's up to the user to decide which one they like...
P.S. You're acting like a fanboy...
Luma does the same thing, but better.
Being a fanboy would imply I like something beyond reason. If anyone does, it's you. Please don't project onto me.
Liking something for having less features is beyond reason.

It's not a matter of opinion. Luma is objectively better.

And this thread lends itself to toxicity, brilliant.
In what way? I am not stating one cfw is better than the other, I just want more variety.

The fact that we are entertaining those who see one CFW as being superior to another yield some toxic responses. It is OK to disagree and keep it civil which is what I believe most of us in this discussion have done.

In what way? The answer is right in front of you with this forum. It seems decent now but lends itself to being a shouting match over CFWs that plagued the forum earlier in the year. Luma is ubiquitous, yes, slowly there are developments in other CFWs, at least ReiNAND, rather than complaining about lack of variety, why not just wait and offer words of support to CFW devs who do this all for free and just need time to adapt to this new style. It's actually somewhat respectable ReiNAND is keeping up. Just appreciate and hope for something to come, rather than sit and lament some lack of variety. It does less for CFWs as a whole.

There were lots of good ideas that died out because of devs leaving the scene. Corbenik was awesome with its bytecode patches (like MysteryMachine, for example). SaltFW was awesome because of its "install and forget" ideology (something absolutely minimalistic without configs etc.). Kecleon was awesome being absolutely spotless. Even though Kecleon and SaltFW are Luma forks, they had other purpose and, for some users, were objectively better. As for Corbenik, the ability to turn on/off every option possible is something that people want as a fact, simply because it gives them freedom of choice.
So there's that. I really miss some CFWs and ideas out there

EDIT: I don't blame devs for leaving the scene, everyone has their own life to live, but still, it is very unfortunate that these ideas could be just left behind

Your right. But I cannot control other peoples actions. If we cant keep it civil then the mods will lock this thread.

ReiNand has more choice than you think. ReiNand has a built in patching system for k11. It's why Rei had to put out a quick fix for ReiNand 4. That was because he accidentally left in a shiny patch. I didn't notice it at the time :P

Why a alternative though
What does Luma not do what other Firmwares could ?
Its not like Luma forces anything on you

I can respect your stance and disagree with you though. Luma does everything other CFW does and more. Some of us just would rather be oblivious to the more. No disrespect to the Luma dev team.

LOL, check my sig, I use Luma. A fanboy actually, and I quote, is "A person who is completely loyal to a game or company reguardless of if they suck or not." -Urban Dictionary. Someone who isn't a fanboy is someone who is completely neutral, like how I am. So please, try to call me a fanboy XD
Also, here's a definition from Webster's dictionary: "a boy or man who is an extremely or overly enthusiastic fan of someone or something"
Edit: Grammar Check!
If anyone does, it's you.
Excuse me sir, I think you meant "if anyone is, it's you."

I just don't understand how in one day so many people came here and a simple thing turned into a heated argument with namecalling and toxicity.

It's not really up to you if devs don't want to work on CFWs anymore. If you want to work on them go do it, but we can't really force anyone to make their CFW into B9S or work faster if they're already doing it. Just get some info if the devs are working on it or not, and do what you will with it. No need for All this bullcrap. Specifically with Mr. @littleman, who apparently doesn't understand other's opinions. I agree that you don't need to complain about Luma that much, but you don't need to complain about their complaints either.

I agree. I made this thread to ask for the status on other CFWs updating to B9S but it kinda snowballed into an argument...

What's the point of supporting old *hax in CFW if Rosalina lets you launch it directly from an app?
hbmenu 2.0 still supports launching payloads on stock firmwares if that's what you mean.

Rosalina breaks quite a bit of homebrew since it doesn't (and won't ever) support homebrew that runs under a target app/game because "it isn't useful". The only solution given is to "either get the developer to update/rewrite it or rewrite said homebrew yourself".

To be simple no one likes that LUMA made Closed source on boot 9 strap that is a red flag as a bad dev no matter how "Good" the CFW is CLOSED SOURCE IS OBJECTIVELY BAD. I refuse to even have a CFW because of that as it dis allows growth and fixes.

Did anyone understand that?

B9S and Luma3DS are both open source. I have no idea what this is about. Did derrek release the source code for SigHax? Maybe confusion about NTR since that's only thing I know in the scene that's closed source.
