On the recent update of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe v1.1 Nintendo has removed the hand gesture of Splatoon Girl because some people might feel offended by it.

This is insane. Even Mario Kart isn't safe from what this or that might be considered "offensive."

Splatoon Girl was only doing the hand gesture "YES!" and this is deemed unacceptable.

For those that may defend the censorship, there are people who may indeed find it disrespectful but that's them and in real life, this is a fictitious, harmless video game that should be left alone from being censored.

People complain about censorship when it changes the game's tone. Like, if a girl is wearing a bikini in Japan, and they cover it up for NA, that is in a way disrespecting the original intent of the developer.
This was an oversight. They didn't realize they were making her flip off the camera. It was a mistake and now they are fixing it. I'm sure they wouldn't have released the game with this, in ANY region, if they had realized.

Putting one hand on your arm, and raising the other in a fist is a way of flipping someone off, or saying "fuck you."
It is similar to raising a middle finger. In my experience both are equally as common.
