New Sonic Forces trailer - custom playable characters

If you were waiting for SEGA to announce Bubsy the Bobcat as a playable character in the upcoming Sonic Forces, you'll find yourself as being half correct; SEGA is adding a create-your-own character option to Sonic Forces. The trailer shows gameplay of a character creator feature, where you can finally make, and play as, your own original Sonic OC (do not steal). Sonic Forces is still on target to release Holiday 2017, for Switch, PS4, XB1, and PC.

my only sole complain is that this is not for wii U. (i.e. Zelda BOTW)
(and before anyone flame me, and i sure there will be, yes i am aware that they are trying to keep up with the new consoles.)

I really don't know what to think. I've never been smitten with any of the recent Sonic games. Indeed, I have never really been a Sonic fan, but I've enjoyed some Sonic games. Sonic Colors was the last Sonic game I truly enjoyed. It's just... The series is scraping earth right now and I don't think this game is going to save it. If Sega really wants to burst Sonic back into the limelight, they need to do something big and more modern, even if it breaks with series tradition. They need their own "Final Fantasy XV" (analogy).

Looks interesting fur sure. I'm a much more interested in Sonic Mania than this, but I'm open to it.

Also, Naoto the Hedgehog when?

Still looking way more forward to Mania than I am to Forces, but I don't have any issue with this whole custom character aspect of Forces, its pretty neat even if its not something I've ever personally looked for in a Sonic title.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Because they wants to remain an old fashion and they do not know how to move forward. :rofl2:

Certainly true for the Sonic franchise as a whole, though it would seem that they might be starting to understand how to move forward. Not that this game looks particularly all that new for the franchise, and that Mania is just revisiting the Genesis games. But that is how they move forward on the 2D front for sure, fans have been wanting more Genesis Sonic titles for years, so thank god they finally got that memo.

But this game, I dunno, I don't have any problem with the custom character aspect of it, but it still doesn't feel like much new life is being injected into the 3D sonic titles. I'll at least give Sega kudos for trying time and time again to make each new 3D sonic game unique and fun, even though they failed more often than not. But at the end of the day it was the more straightforward Generations and Colors titles that really delivered on what fans had been wanting for years. Thing is, these are the Sonic titles without much of a gimmick, and its hard not to feel like if you've played Colors and/or Generations that there isn't much in Forces to really compel you to play what looks to be just more of the same.

Its weird how more of the same classic genesis Sonic is something that I'm very excited to welcome back in my life, while more of the same 3D Sonic just doesn't excite me in the way I was excited when Generations and Colors were first popping up on the scene. Perhaps its because the classic Genesis Sonic games haven't truly been revisited for many years, while Generations and Colors still feel pretty fresh.

I'm actually just noticing it's coming to PC. I hope that means being able to have a custom character resembling Midnight Form Lycanroc, or being able to create it ingame without modding. That Lycanroc is what I immediately thought of, it would fit in the Sonic universe.

Welp, that means more Sonic OCs will come.
- Indeed. Sega has essentially created " 'Original' Sonic Characters the Game!" I can hear the '90's announcer now... "Hey! Do you like Sonic? LOVE Sonic?! Do you often create your own animal characters you claim are '(a) sibling(s) of Sonic' or a 'cousin of Sonic'? How would you like to actually play as your 'Original Character'?! Well now you can, in Sonic Forces! Create your own character, and have them fight against the evil Dr. Eggman alongside Sonic! Sonic Forces, *power among friends!" Lol.
*or some other cheesy line.
