I really don't think Tueidj is going to ever release his source code, or ever acknowledge devolution exists anymore. He hasn't posted since about 2012, and hasn't even visited while logged in since 2014.

Truthfully, I can't say I didn't see it coming, putting AP in a program made to run games from 2001 to 2007 for free, on a console already designed to play them? That's completely ridiculous and laughable to boot. :rofl2: It's a shame he had to riddle something clearly incredible with DRM. Devo truly had the potential to totally destroy Dios Mios. And it did destroy Dios Mios when you actually bothered to go through the confusing disc verification crap.

Obviously many people would've used it to play ISOs of games they didn't own, but most people that use stuff like Nintendont use it to play games they've played before, owned before, or owned on other platforms, anyway- so it's just a pointless measure that gets in the way.

Devo to me I've always equated to be sort of like if I developed a DOSBoX alternative that refused to run anything not connected directly to the system either by a CD or Floppy Drive, and it painstakingly hashchecked your disks and verified you weren't emulating the disc drive by checking if you have Daemon Tools or PowerISO and if it finds them the program will totally refuse to run to begin with.

Anyhow I guess this isn't really the place to be talking about this stuff but since Devo is all but dead anyway it doesn't really matter I think.

Glad Nintendont came about in the end. :yaywii:

I agree with most of what is here but I have to say I was very amazed @ the quality and compatibility of Devo when it first came out. I used my old wii to rip my library of 25 or so GC games, did the silly WiiMote thing but then loved it that I could play all games from one SD card and use the WiiU pro controller. I am a little surprised that his code was never hacked as I always figured someone would figure out how to strip his DRM shit and open it up.

My only wish is he would do one more update supporting the GC USB adapter so that devo could be used with real GC controllers but alas that will never happen and we do have the more than awesome Nintedont now so I guess the point is moot..........still Devo was a great solution in its time.

He did a good job and he is a very good developer. However, he is one of the selfish types of programmers and their work most of the times stays abandoned and at times even incomplete...

I thought he hated the GC controller and never supported it. I will have to find the latest build and try it but that would be nice if it works.

I see you are right in that there is a build from 2015 r266 that adds GC USB support and also X360 support. Nice, thanks bro....ask and you shall receive.

Hi, I've been having trouble with Devolution and was hoping that someone had this issue as well.

- I ran cleanrip on my disc of PSO Episode I&II with no issues, then put it in the /games/ folder, checksum seemed to be ok too.
- Started up Devolution, inserted the disc when it blinked twice, then blinked 5 times in return, but then the screen was just black.
- Even 10 minutes later it was still black.

What I've tried:
- Different USB drives with the recommended FAT32 partitioning
- Multiple rips of the disc
- The .iso works in another iso loader just fine
- However when trying another loader to "install" the disc it freezes at 2%

My Wii is hard-modded with an older disc drive, but the game runs if I normally play it, I have a suspicion this is the culprit, but unsure.

if you moded your disc drive devolution anti piracy check will fail and you wont be able to use devolution at all due to the anti pyracy measures.

So your only hope is nintendont.

All that work , just to be left abandoned.

I don't think it's completely abandoned since his last post on Devolution is actually "just" a bit over a year ago:
http://www.gc-forever.com/forums/search.php?author_id=1395&sr=posts

I wouldn't be surprised if he simply just feels that Devolution is "complete".

And he still regularly posts on GC-Forever:
http://www.gc-forever.com/forums/search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&author_id=1395

It's more likely that his lack of activity on GBAtemp is simply due to finding a community (GC-Forever) that more aligns with his anti-piracy views.

I've been wondering if it would be possible to use the Gamepad as controller if i use the WiiVC Injector Script from TeconMoon to create a channel at the WiiU menu that is linked to the vWii Devolution's forwarder (ID: DVAA according GameTDB) but i don't found any vWii forwarder channel for Devolution to try out

That is because Devolution hasn't been updated for a very long time. You may use Nintendont instead.

I know, however Nintendont's emulation isn't perfect in some games like Paper Mario TTYD and also some of my saves are on Devolution
And i just made a forwarder for it on the WiiU CFW Menu, however it didn't worked using the Gamepad as controller but at least it's to possible to use the others controllers such as the WiiU Pro Controller.

I installed Devolution a couple of years ago and had it working perfectly. I subsequently had to use the USB Stick urgently for something else so I backed up all the data then copied it to another identical USB stick later. Now I've discovered I can load my game saves from the new USB stick as before but I can't save them. I'm playing Phantasy Star Online Plus, I know it has more security measures than most games but I believe they are all resolved with Devolution. I get an in game message stating the memory card in Slot A can not be found (actually its in Japanese but I can read it). Anyone know how I might go around resolving this? EDIT: Sorry I should add... the current game saves are in a folder called gc_devo and the file formats are memcard.bin GBIJ00.DVV and GPOJ05.DVV. I believe those are the default formats devolution uses.

I wasn't able to resolve this directly however I copied the "memcard.bin" and other two"*.DW" files back on to the original USB stick and everything worked. As the two USB sticks are identical this looks like game saves for PSO Plus are paired with the USB stick in the same way they're paired with memory cards on the GameCube. Now my game saves are accessible again I was able to do a raw restore back to the real GameCube memory card in GCMM by duplicating the "memcard.bin" file, renaming it to "memcard.raw" and putting it in a folder called "MCBACKUP" in the root of the USB stick. By repeating this process in the future I can "RAW Restore" my latest game saves to the real GameCube memory card and then "RAW Backup" them to any other USB Stick.
