Gaming Story wise, is there a reason Link has his Master Sword and Champions tunic taken from him?

I wouldn't expect the Hero of Hyrule to be loaded up immediately with best of the best equips ever like lynel Weapons, sheikah armor, etc but the things I said were possessions that belonged to him when he fought the calamity 100 years ago and they are just taken from him for...."reasons".

How does that fit with the story and why make it difficult on the Hero to give him back what once belonged to him?

In all reality, the best story-wise reason is that the Master Sword doesn't "accept" you until you have enough of the shrines done. Seemed to do so before, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Zelda has taken the sword to place it in the forest in order to regenerate its power (you can see the sword was rusted in some cinematics).
The tunic ? Because Zelda has always wanted to see link naked XD

I can understand the recharging part but to hide it is nonsense. Link was also in hiding while recovering from the damage done to him, may as well keep the weapon with him too if they both need to be hidden. I can only assume the restoration point could not be moved closer to the forest area but it still seems silly and arbitrary to keep both Link and Master Sword so far apart.

The sword requires a certain wellness to use. Link had no memories and wouldn't know this, so he could have killed himself trying to get it.

In Korok forrest, there's the Deku tree to watch over it and give fair warning.

could be it was torn due to Link taking considerable damage that nearly killed him. He needs to wear it when fighting Ganon since it's a symbol of a "champion". Much like why soldiers need to wear their uniform or armor when they go to war. But i think why would you strip someone who's dying and leave him naked for 100 years. Or at least leave him with a different tunic.

0) Didn't the master sword break in one of the memories? There's a lot of scenes with the master sword being rusted and everything else. There's also a memory of Zelda placing the broken master sword in the lost woods because it needed to be "charged"/"healed". She chose the pedastal because she figured Link would remember the sword and want it back for the "final" showdown with Ganon - and the Deku tree could warn Link that removing it would be fatal for a hero that wasn't "fully healed".

1) Safety reasons? Keeping treasures like the master sword and the champion's tunic in the shrine of resurrection would have been like telling all of the grave robbers/looters that "hey, this was the Champion of Hyrule! Let's sell him to the Yiga..." Historically, a ton of grave robbers helped themselves to graves with priceless historical treasures. It doesn't help that Link is reasonably recognizable as one of the four Champions...and giving Link the "old shirt" and "worn pants" was a way to help him "blend in" as well.

1a) Impa having the iconic Champion's tunic was probably an insurance policy as well. Notice Impa doesn't immediately hand over the tunic to Link as soon as he crashes back into her life. As soon as Link gets a captured memory back, she does. The reasoning? Even the Sheikah don't know the effects of the resurrection shrine on someone. Would they remember anything? Would they have full use of their abilities? (The Hero of the Wild seems to have an ability to slow down time - was that granted by the Shrine OR did he have it before the incident?) Link making the effort to get the captured memory proves that Link was still the "Champion" of Hyrule, and was willing to protect Zelda/Hyrule itself too. Remember that the Tunic is pretty much a priceless artifact from before the Calamity and that the peoples of Hyrule would recognize it almost immediately. I think that Impa didn't want to burden a fully amnesiac Link with the responsibilities of the Champion's tunic if she didn't need to.

1b) The 100 years in the Shrine would make anyone forget how to fight with a sword/shield combo. Risking the master sword by letting a rusty swordsman hold it might result in unnecessary damage to it OR even an enemy stealing it. Letting Link practice with enemy boko clubs and sticks in the beginning would probably be a better idea. Plus, wooden weapons tend to be lighter - the master sword is a hefty chunk of metal, and a freshly revived Link probably doesn't have the stamina/balance to deal with heavier weapons!

2) Link being naked/in his undies was probably because the shrine/healing waters needed to be in contact with his wounds. Even Robbie makes a comment about the scars on Link's body!

3) Moving the resurrection shrine near the Lost Woods would probably NOT be a good idea, even if it was possible. It's near Hyrule Castle for one, so Ganon could probably send troops to take back both the sword OR Link himself. Ganon had all the powers of the Divine Beasts at one point, so even just sending the Rito one would have been a problem...

You definitely need to play it before wondering why others who have played it are asking. Master Sword isn't even close to the best weapon in the game, I already mentioned what was the best if you read carefully. I only collected the Master Sword just to have a check off on the main quest.

Normally its because it was lost.
With botw i believe they were trying to say that link was hurt after battle and he went to rest.
While that happen the master sword was put in the lost forest for save keeping. (to now fall into the hands of evil)
As far as the tunic, i dont know on that one. Maybe it was just miss placed.


I do wish there was a zelda game where link had all the items in the start then have a nice battle and gets knock out and losses them.
So that you have to go out and find them all and learn how to use them correctly.
