It's not even that. It depends on what people DO with their 3DSes too.

That reminds me when Pokemon Sun and Moon were leaked early...

- Everybody that used the .cia file and went online? Console banned.
- Everybody that had any other flascart than Gateway? Couldn't even load the game.
- Everybody that used Gateway? Could play online without repercussions.

Tears were flowing from my eyes when I read that all these little cocky brats had their console permanently banned. What was the only method to get the full experience out of one of the most anticipated 3DS games early? Play it on Gateway.

If you want to play leaked 3DS games online without the fear of getting your console permanently banned Gateway has proven itself to be the best choice as well. Which I might add, is a nifty bonus. If I was one of those .cia users my console would've been paperweight but alas. Gateway gave its users a nice unforseen added benefit of keeping our consoles from being permanently banned while playing online early.

Screen streaming, screen dimming and blue light filter, screenshits, screen everything :P

hmmm id rather have stability and useful features to keep playing the latest games. i dont see any use of streaming the screen or taking screenshots

you forgot .plg loader :P
: prayforit :

why plg loader when it has its own built in cheat engine to apply or make cheat codes.

this is what i hate most, is users kicking off because they demand to pirate online and its gateways fault for continuing to provide updates to its day one cart which is delaying emunand updates.

id rather have new features fully tested and safe than stop working and risk missing bugs just to support online pirates.

if these little bitches demand to play online then kindly fuck off, buy the fucking game and stop bitching at gateway.

end of the day ive had gateway since day one and i know not to install nintendo updates, why the fuck after all these years people still dont understand this is worrying to me.

if people cant read and follow the instructions then its your own fault.

because plugin are very customizable.
Ok Gateway menu is cool, but it's not the best option to manage your cheat code.

Gateway users would still be banned by playing it online before release, same as everyone else. Plus they had an extra danger in not using a private header. Cia installed games have less risk and don't cost anything so....

you press a button to turn on or off, you can edit your cheat codes from the console with the press of a button and save it, you can edit the cheat code without saving it for testing purposes, you can locate codes using memory editor with the press of a button, you can dump the ram with the press of a button.

how hard can it be?

id say a fair whack of users who download roms wont even know what a private header is.

But what would those "useful features" be then? Because if they're just stable and able to play the latest games, other CFWs can do that too, for free (and then 3ds vs cia is a never ending debate).
I mentioned screen streaming as an example (among other things) because that's also something that is possible without a Gateway, but in an annoying way, so if Gateway does it better they win a point.

you just don't get it.
I am not talking about how "hard" it is to press button to select cheat, Gateway code are in AR format.
Plugin are made in C, aka more possibility.

tsktsk

thing is gateway is a flash cart, its main purpose is to boot roms which id does perfectly, no need of template files or installing cia files.

over the years its brought support to higher firmwares (ok for now its been limited to 9.2) but who knows if the next update is again to increase the compatible firmware, its then added cheat code support.

differences between gateway and cfw, both are still limited to the same levels of firmwares, cfw is more open source so lately has seen emunand support faster than gateway, but cfw is limited to the use of cia files which doubles the sd storage required to store then install, gateway you just drag/drop one file.

i wouldnt think streaming or a screenshot feature has a massive demand to make it a requirement.

but the main key features of cfw can be done using gateway, i can even boot cfw and still use gateway at the same time if i needed

possibility of what?

also noted you find a lot of codes that only work with Gateway and cant be converted to other formats.

but find any code NTR has (alot are ported from Gateway codes) and it will be possible on Gateway.

honestly it seems the only argument people have is "urgh its not worth the money" that's totally upto the end user, maybe I have £1,000,000 to blow on useless crap, that's upto me

but not only that people are trying to retroactively point out its ripoff, I often see people with this silly mindset, I go buy a game, then 4 years later someone says "hahahaha lololo you paid $50 for that game, look on ebay its only worth $3 you idiot.....and not only that you can get the hd remake for free so why would you want to even pay that when you can get the hd remake for free.....god you guys is sooooo dumb, I am soooooooooo muchos cleverz"

when in actual fact most people bought the card wayyyyyy before the option you are bringing up even existed, and the one they have has features that were not available in the HD remake, sure its not as pretty in some aspects, but what if I want to play that mini game that was cut from the HD remaster? I already own the card, so I can do that for free (as I already have the card).....so why shouldn't I?....sure I can play the HD remaster for free too, so why not let me do both seeing as I can

now these people have the option of running free games without having to buy a flash cart and its a big win win because theyre cheap fuckers that want everything in life for free.

instantly jump to the conclusions that cfw is superior, yet its limited just the same as gateway to what firmware you have to be on in order to install it.

the fact that gateway started of many years ago and was the one of the first to even let these cheap skates play games for free and theyre still supporting updates for the same product, i mean they could have fucked you all over and released a new cart with its new features...... but will leave that to sky3ds.

This post turned into so much shit talking :rofl2: This is the internet though, so one person will have an opinion and that opinion will have a lot of people for it and a lot against it... So both sides will get nowhere with this argument :rofl2: I dont need facts to say I hate Gateway. And it works the other way around. So you might as well just sit here and wait for a broken update to come out LOL. Jokes aside, in the end no ones cares what anyone thinks. :grog:

Exactly: have this card since the beginning, even when it was 1 rom per micro-sd (autumn 2013) and it still does a great job. It was and still is worth every euro-cent I paid for it.
and if support is dropped, well....... whoop-di-f**ng-doo...... still a great flashcard.

support will only stop when the demand or console is dead.

by then, it will still let users do what its intended to do.

people who wont pay for games, also wont pay for gateway and is the reason to their beef with them, when there is open source free cfw its clearly a win win for them, they dont need to buy a cart or games.

but to then slate gateway because free cfw is now available is rather pathetic because it still offers features cfw users cant and vise versa.

they like like taking it up the arse, others cant stand it, just because theyre a bum boi doesnt mean everyone else must follow.

Hold on a second there, Sparky. I literally own EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. I had on my Gateway cart. I bought one because I was primarily a business traveler and it meant not packing a shitload of carts in my laptop/carry-on bag and pulling them out to swap during flights or waiting in the flight lounges. Additionally, it was a great way to use cheats were I so inclined. Make no mistake, for a majority, piracy is clearly the highest purchase motivator. However, it's not the ONLY one.

ok not questioning you, but sounds rather far fetched, 3ds games are tiny would not be a pain to take 20 games with you, also as for cheats then there is ntr that only support legit users.

i do feel 50/50 if your legit or one of those that pretends to own all their games when they actually pirate and only own a tiny few.... i may be wrong but its not the first time you see people claim to be legit when theyre not.
