yeah he wouldnt do that, he barely wanted to turn it on as its never been, however my 3ds friends hyrule is 1133 and its dual ips, this one is 1131, if you google qw1131, it says nothing but IPS confirmed dual IPS. also he said he looked from the sides and there is no washing, im taking his word and the internets and praying for the best, he opened it just for me, comes with original receipt, grabbing it for $200, now i can sell my dual IPS majoras mask

Picked up two from walmart today, screeninfo reports that both are dual TN.... Guess this may take a while...

I have just received an top IPS screen NN3DSXL but I'm thinking of keeping the TN one simplay because I don't like the difference in colour temperatures between the top and bottom screens.
The TN 3DS screens are far more natural and warmer although I will admit the viewing angles on the IPS screen are fantastic.

I haven't bought it yet so I can't do that. Also the seller seems unlikely to go to that extent for me even if they were tech savvy enough to be able to. Thanks for the advice though.

Me neither, so I did this, I ordererd that one and another one which is a verified dual IPS. I'tll take some time but I'll compare and share what I find out when I get them. Also, that serial is a Hyrule Edition and I've collected some data while browsing if there's a place to share that too. Like "buyers guide to n3ds xl hyrule edition" or something. Thanks again for the advice.

Well here's a thought: what about purchasing top/bottom IPS screens online (say, ebay) and just installing them (if you're able to do that kind of installation)? Is this method reliable? If ebay lists "IPS top/bottom screen new 3DS XL", should there be doubt, etc? I'm curious about this method and thanks for any and all responses.

You can do that. Make sure you get a screen for the same model. Top screen is very difficult to install, bottom is moderately difficult on a New 3DS.

Oh wow....this is insane then! I mean I love to repair and work on these kinds of things anyway so worrying about not getting a dual IPS is no longer an issue lol.

Just got the Galaxy style N3DS. TN screens unfortunately. The crap viewing angles on the TN screens make the all angles 3D completely pointless.

It seems you can't really tell which screen it is unless you have a good enough camera. Getting back to my device it was a Hyrule Edition with SRL starting at QW1126 which I can confirm is dual IPS. I also ordered one with SRL starting at QW1131 which the seller confirmed is dual IPS though unfortunately he seem to have updated it to 11.4 and and lost the homebrew on it. Comparing the two side by side I can tell no difference so I must agree with the seller on the QW1131 for now.

However, this might be some useful advice for those who are looking to collect a Hyrule Edition New 3DS XL. While searching for a suitable device I wrote down the serial numbers which belonged to the model and if they had confirmation being dual IPS or not. Here are my findings:
