100% WIi U & 50% vWii Hacking Guide ToDo: Complete that homebrew section...
PSA: Don't use wiiu.guide!
PSA: DON'T UPDATE YOUR WII U! THE NEWEST FIRMWARE IS: 5.5.2! EVERY EXPLOIT HAS BEEN PATCHED! IF YOU DO, YOU'LL LOSE ACCESS TO EXPLOITS AND POSSIBLY IF YOU HAVE CBHC INSTALLED, YOU'LL BRICK! DON'T TAKE DOWN YOUR DNS BLOCK.

Guide Status: redNAND-free guide: Up-to-date | WiiUBrU: Needs to be updated

L

Before we start [You need]:
  • SDCard [min. 4GB, If you want to install more games using Brazilian Method, Grab 8GB-32GB SDCard]
  • PC/Laptop with SDCard reader
  • Wiimote if you plan on hacking vWii
  • [vWii] External Harddrive if you plan on using USB Loader GX [Covered in another guide]
  • [Wii U] Another External Harddrive if you plan to install more games with Brazilian Method
  • Brain. I don't take responsiblity for your brick
In this guide we'll cover:

Please read: Before we start section to understand everything i wrote here.
[What is 'CFW', benefits of hacking your Wii U & other]
  1. Blocking Updates [Using TitleDNS!]
  2. Browserhax [Homebrew Launcher+Files]
  3. Mocha CFW set up [redNAND free!]
  4. Haxchi Installation [Offline Homebrew and CFW Solution!]
  5. Brazillian Method [DLC, Updates, Games]
  6. Dumping Wii U's NAND [Optional, Do it before installing CBHC!]
  7. ColdBootHaxChi Installation [Optional, CFW on boot!]
  8. Spoofing system firmware using NNUPatcher
  9. Hacking vWii [Optional, Homebrew Channel in vWii!]
Let's begin our adventure!

Before we start
Why should i not follow wiiu.guide, why should i download Mocha CFW & other questions
Question: "Why should i not follow wiiu.guide? It's apparently written by a known person from 3DS scene?"
Answer: wiiu.guide doesn't explain why you should use redNAND, CBHC and other stuff. It just forces it down your throat, and when we are talking about redNAND, it's useless if you're not a developer.

Question: "What does 'CFW' mean? I see it everywhere and i don't understand it!"
Answer: CFW means Custom Firmware. This term is currently used to homebrew which allow us to run unsigned apps and games.

Question: "Should i block my Wii U's MAC Address?"
Answer: No, please don't. You will be unable to access loadiine.ovh [Homebrew access gate, explained in Browserhax step] and you will be unable to load sites & play online!

Question: "What does CBHC/HBL/HBAS mean?"
Answer: CBHC - ColdBootHaxChi, permament CFW solution for your Wii U. HBL - Homebrew Launcher, it's your gate to Wii U Homebrew. HBAS - Homebrew Appstore, you will be mainly using this through this guide to download Wii U homebrew.

Question: "I checked other guides and Brazilian Method is named 'Wup Installer Method' on some."
Answer: It originally came from Brazil but people like to change names. Everyone names it the way they like.

Question: "What size of SDCard/HDD should i have for Brazilian Method?"
Answer: If you're looking to only run Homebrew Launcher [Homebrew apps overally] then i guess, 4GB SDCard will do. However, if you plan on downloading games, i suggest getting 16GB or 32GB SDCard. [You can use 8GB-16GB SDCard but you will be unable to put games above 16GB on your SDCard]
If you plan on using HDD with Wii U, i would suggest getting atleast 128GB HDD with Y Cable. [Wii U can't power extHDD's on it's own]

Question: "When i should use CFW and why should i use Mocha CFW? There's SigPatcher2sysmenu!"
Answer: I suggest using CFW like Mocha CFW/Haxchi CFW/CBHC CFW when installing games, or trying to run a game with "fake signed" DLC or out-of-region game. [Downloaded with Brazilian Method, this also applies to Virtual Console games downloaded using Brazilian Method]
You should use Mocha CFW only when you can't afford a DS Virtual Console game or you simply don't want to install Haxchi/CBHC. Mocha CFW like Haxchi CFW/CBHC CFW provides "iosuhax speed boost" which increases SDCard Read/Write speed.
There has been a recent discussion in this thread why i did not use SigPatcher2SysMenu instead. I'll explain why.
SigPatcher works like every other CFW but it's missing some features. It just gives you ability to run CFW-Only games. It also doesn't provide "iosuhax speed boost", making homebrew channels work even slower than they should. [Especially when homebrew like "RetroArch" needs to read from SDCard, if you're above 30 roms, it will just load longer than it would with CFW.
*NAND = Wii U's Flash Memory

Question: "Can i skip Mocha CFW if i have compatible DS Virtual Console game?"
Answer: Yes, you can. Head to Step 4. "Haxchi Installation"
You get following benefits from hacking your Wii U:
-Ability to install & play Wii U backups [*]
-Ability to run unsigned software on your Wii U [*]
-Ability to run emulators on your Wii U [#]
-Ability to run homebrew apps [*]
-Ability to use other controllers with Wii U [#] [Thanks to HID2VPAD]
-And many other ability's you will discover later on

[#] - Covered in 2nd post, Homebrew Fun Zone, [*] - Covered in this guide

Yes, i tested this guide on my friend's Wii U, everything went as planned.
[I even removed CBHC from mine and went as far as reinstalling it using this guide]

1. Blocking Updates using DNS
I suggest using loadiine.ovh if you want 100% up-to-date DNS.
  • Open System Settings
  • Head to Internet then tap "Connect to Internet"
  • Press X
  • Select your connected connection then tap on Change Settings. Now locate DNS and set it to "Don't Auto-obtain"
  1. Set Primary DNS to 81.4.127.20 (TitleDNS "The Netherlands")
  2. Set Second DNS to 168.235.92.108 (TitleDNS "Los Angeles")
Why do i need to block updates?
Nintendo can push out update which can patch every exploit out there. You don't want that to happen, do you?
Worry not, we have another method for you!
You can:
1.Block by URL Filtering
2.Block your Wii U's MAC Address [No internet access, no ability to run homebrew access gates, don't use it]

1.Block updates by URL filtering in your router settings
  • nus.cdn.shop.wii.com
  • nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net
  • nus.wup.shop.nintendo.net
  • nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
2.Block your Wii U's MAC Address
1. Go to System Settings then Internet then View MAC Address
2. Type the string in your MAC Address Filter (example: e3-ef-5a-32-96-gh)
Congratulations! You set up Update Blocking!

2. Browserhax
In order to launch anything, you must find a way to execute unsigned code.
This browserhax is what we call "gateway" or "entry point" to the world of homebrew!
But before we get there, you need files!
Download Homebrew Launcher v1.4 from here!
https://github.com/dimok789/homebrew_launcher/releases

Download Homebrew Appstore from here!
http://wiiubru.com/appstore/#/app/appstore
Now you're asking yourself "What should i do with this?"
It's simple! Insert your SDCard into your PC!
You have SDCard in your PC now, great!

Now you need to format it!
  • Right-click on SDCard and then click Properties
  • Click on Format and format it to FAT32 32kb Cluster Size
SDCard formatted? Nice!
  • Create folder named "wiiu" then inside that folder create folder named "apps"
  • Store every homebrew there
Your file format should look like this
  • SDCard://wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.elf
  • SDCard://wiiu/apps
  • SDCard://wiiu
It shouldn't look like this
  • SDCard://wiiu/apps/wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher.elf
  • SDCard://wiiu/apps/apps
  • Don't rename your SDCard to "WII U" or "WiiU" because it will not be detected

Everything done? Now right-click on SDCard in Windows Explorer and click "Eject"
Now eject out SDCard from PC. This is where fun stuff begins!
  • Insert your SDCard into Wii U
  • Open up Internet Browser
  • Click on address bar and type "loadiine.ovh"
  • Select "Homebrew Launcher v1.4" from there
  • Tap on "Load"
  • If your Wii U gets stuck on Wii U screen, turn it off and turn it on again.
See that beautiful Homebrew Launcher logo? Cool, right?
You don't need to use your PC anymore! Woohoo! [In next step, actually]
Alright. Thanks to @pwsincd, you don't need PC in order to grab HBL!
Here's how you can skip PC step:
  • Insert your SDCard into Wii U
  • Open Internet Browser
  • Type in address bar "wiiubru.com/go"
  • Press A button [If there's a dialog that appears]
  • Download Appstore, Homebrew Launcher and Haxchi Installer from there
  • Press Home Button after you're done downloading homebrew
  • Type this in address bar "wiiubru.com/x"
  • You will be automatically launched into HBL channel
  • If your Wii U gets stuck on Wii U screen, turn it off and on again.
With this method, you can skip Mocha CFW if you own DS VC game. If you don't, then you can download Mocha CFW also. (Or purchase/download Brain Age DS VC and proceed to Step 4!)

3.Mocha CFW Set up [Without redNAND]
Now since you have access to Homebrew Launcher, you can download Mocha CFW! Ready for region-free?
This is where HBAS will get it's use!
  • Tap on Appstore
  • Tap on Load
  • Tap again after it loads
  • Now you should see categories, tap on "Tools" category
  • Find Mocha CFW, tap on it and tap on "Get!"
  • After it's done downloading, press Home button on your Wii U gamepad

Now after you did that, you should now see Mocha CFW in Homebrew Launcher. Tap on it then tap Load.
In this guide, i want you to turn off redNAND option! It's only good for developers and shouldn't be used to play games! Use DPAD to change options.
  • Relaunch OS -> ON [Relaunch OS if System Settings or other app is launched]
  • Show custom bootscreen on launch ON [or OFF if you dislike Mocha CFW logo]
  • redNAND OFF
Now click A to boot into sigpatched sysmenu!
You set up Mocha CFW! That was quick!

4. Haxchi Installation
For this you need to purchase Brain Age/compatible DS VC game from eShop.
Haxchi swaps rom.zip of your DS VC game with a exploited one. Why only DS VC? DS VC is faster to bootup and to get everything done!

NOTE:
NNIDs created in 2014 got Brain Age for free! Also Brain Age is cheapest DS VC out there!
After you install Haxchi, you will be unable to play that game until you delete your DS VC game.
[! = Deleting CBHC'd game will result in a brick, deleting normal Haxchi game installed with Haxchi Installer will not brick your system]

  • Download/Purchase then download Brain Age/exploitable DS VC from eShop
  • For list of exploitable games, click this -> Compatible DS VC games
If you can't visit eShop, then refer to Step 8. NNUPatcher

Now you need to fire up Internet Browser and repeat Browserhax step again. [Load loadiine.ovh, select that and bam!]
Now load Appstore.

  • You can find Haxchi Installer in Tools section of Homebrew Appstore!
After it's done downloading, press Home button.
Help! It's not working!
Don't worry i have quick fix for you!
  • Delete Brain Age and redownload it from eShop
  • Check if Haxchi Installer isn't corrupted [Instead of Haxchi Installer, you get black screen]
  • If it does give you black screen, delete Haxchi Installer using Appstore and download it again
Back into HBL!
Tap on Haxchi Installer then tap on Load
  • Now you're prompted with Haxchi installer
  • Select your Legitimely purchased Brain Age DS VC
  • Press A on it
  • It should begin overwriting DS VC game
  • After it's done, it will kick you back to Wii U Menu
Now, tap on that DS VC game. Oh look! Homebrew Launcher!
Did you know that Haxchi has it's own built-in CFW? With this method, you will be able to boot into Haxchi's CFW! But you need to eject out your SDCard. [In Wii U Menu of course]
  • Now, you have your SDCard in your hands. Insert it to your PC again.
You will now see a new folder on your SDCard named 'haxchi' [If it isn't there, create it]
Now you will see config.txt here. This is where fun begins.
  • If you don't see it, create .txt file named config
  • After you opened it up, you see some strange stuff. With this config file, you can bind buttons to your liking!
Quick explaination: wiiu/apps/<Homebrew's folder name>/<Homebrew's .elf file>
sysmenu = This argument will boot you into Haxchi's Built-in CFW

Set it to something like this:
  • a=wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.elf
  • b=wiiu/apps/<Homebrew's directory>/<Homebrew's .elf file>
  • default=sysmenu
Now insert your SDCard back into your Wii U and run Haxchi'd DS VC.
Now from there run Haxchi Installer and let it overwrite your Haxchi'd game with new configuration.
Now to get into Homebrew Launcher, you need to hold A while starting up Haxchi.
If you do nothing, you will get booted into Haxchi CFW! No need to use Mocha CFW anymore!
Congratulations! You're done! Permament HBL solution, that feels good doesn't it?

5. Brazilian Method
Thanks to our brazil friends for this! [DLC, CFW-Only Games and other]
Brazillian Method, as this name suggests, comes from our Brazilian friends!
(Others name it 'Wup Installer Method" or "Tik faker method" but i like Brazilian Method more.)
It allows us to install legit & fake signed games, DLC and updates straight to NAND [Wii U's flash memory] or USB!
  • Eject your SDCard from Wii U
  • Insert it in your PC
Done? Let's begin!
Wii U USB Helper is very user friendly and has a nice gui. It's one of many NUS* grabbers out there.
Let's download it!
  • Read this thread fully to understand & download Wii U USB Helper (Click on it)
  • Run update.exe
  • If it's blocked by Windows Defender/Antivirus software, simply whitelist it and run it again.
  • You're prompted with "Insert link to that titlekey website", simply google "that title key website"
  • Select your game/update/dlc save destination
  • Now Wii U USB Helper will load games, select one's you like and click "Download"
  • Click on "Copy to SD" in Download Managment in Wii U USB Helper
  • Follow on-screen instructions
After it's done downloading, it will automatically create and copy them to "install" folder in SDCard.
"How do i install them?" Good question. Don't worry, i know the answer :)
You can either do it from Wii U side with Appstore or download them on PC and insert it in SDCard://wiiu/apps
Now, let's do it from Wii U side
  • If you have Haxchi, boot into CFW first, then boot Haxchi again while holding A to boot HBL
  • If you still use Mocha CFW, use Browserhax to launch into HBL
Now find Wup Installer GX2/Mod Y and tap on it, then tap load.
This is where fun part begins.
  • While being in Wup Installer GX2, select games and tap Install
  • You will be prompted if you want to install your games to NAND or USB
  • Select your desired install location and wait till it finishes installing every game
Wup Installer Mod Y method
  • While being in Wup Installer Mod Y, use D-PAD Up & Down to select games
  • Press A to install it to NAND or X to install it to USB
  • Wait, till it installs your game
You learned Brazilian Method! Enjoy your games, dlc and updates!
Don't want to use NUS Downloaders? Don't worry, I have another method for you!
I present to you: disc2app - Dump your Wii U discs and install them to Wii U menu! [100% legal]
The only requirement? 32GB SDCard with atleast 26GB of memory free
Time to download it. We will use appstore so you will not have to go near your PC just to download one thing.
  • Launch HBL using Browserhax/Haxchi/Homebrew Launcher Channel
  • Tap on Appstore then tap on Load
  • Tap again, then tap on "Tools" category
  • Find disc2app and tap on "Get"
  • After it's done, press Home button
Done? Then let's dump your Wii U discs!
  1. Remove any disc that's currently in the Wii U disc drive
  2. Load disc2app
  3. Press A to dump to SDCard
  4. If you gained access to IOSU, It will say "Please insert the disc you want to dump now to begin"
  5. Insert your x game disc now
  • It might take a while to complete. It depends on game size. [It took me around 1-3h to dump SSB for example]
If it completed dumping, it will send you back to Wii U menu. That means you successfully dumped your Wii U disc game! Oh, we need something to install these games, right?
  • Get back into Homebrew Launcher with Haxchi/Browserhax/HBLC
  • Load Appstore
  • Tap again, then tap on "Tools" category
  • Find Wup Installer GX2/or Wup Installer Mod Y [No GUI, no Touch controls]
  • Tap on "Get"
  • Return to HBL after it's done by pressing Home button
It's time to install them!
  • Load Wup Installer GX2/Mod Y
  • On Wup Installer GX2, tap to select your games
  • On Mod Y use D-PAD Up & Down to navigate through games
  • On Wup Installer GX2, tap on Install and select your desired location [USB or Wii U's flash memory - NAND]
  • On Wup Installer Mod Y, press A to install it to NAND or X to install it to your USB HDD
  • They will both tell you when they're done with installation. When they're really done, press the home button. Then press Home button again. [If you have HBLC then tap "Close software" button]
  • Now you will see your Wii U disc game in Wii U menu
You can delete these games by visiting "System Settings" then 'Data Management'.
You're done!

6. Dumping Wii U's NAND
I suggest doing it before CBHC. I'll explain why below.
SLC - Includes system configuration such as system.xml, sysmenu.xml and other critical parts of the Wii U (such as boot1)
SLCMTTP - vWii IOS'es, Save files and vWii stuff is stored there. Needed in-case if you screw up vWii to that state that even FTPiiU will not help.
MLC - Includes System Apps such as Wii U Menu, System Settings, Wii U Browser etc. It also includes your installed games, saves and (partial, most of it is stored in SLC) Wii U configuration. I really suggest dumping it in-case if your Wii U menu refuses to work one day. [Keep in mind: Wii U menu is needed to boot Wii U]

OTP - [Quote from WiiUBrew] "The One Time Programmable memory is programmed sometime during the factory process and can never be changed afterwards. The Wii U's OTP is much larger than the Wii's (1KB split across 8 banks of 128 bytes each) and contains an assortment of read-only data, including the console's encryption/decryption keys."
In other words, you need it to decrypt SLC, SLCMTTP and MLC. Keep it mind, you can't decrypt boot1 with it.
SEEPROM - Serial EEPROM, Includes console information, boot parameters and other stuff. It includes some calls to SLC so i guess it might come in-handy when fixing your Wii U.
  • If you plan on dumping MLC [Wii U Menu, Games, System Files & Apps] then i suggest grabbing 16GB SDCard for 8GB Wii U's and 64GB for 32GB Wii U's
  • Minimum 2GB free space for SLC, SLCMTTP, OTP and SEEPROM
  • Minimum 8GB/32 GB free space for MLC
You don't need to dump MLC but i suggest it in-case if your Wii U menu corrupts
  • Eject SDCard from Wii U and insert it to your PC
  • Click on this WiiUBrU Appstore [NAND Dumper]
  • Download .zip file
  • Open it and put 'nanddumper' folder in SDCard://wiiu/apps/
  • Eject SDCard from PC and insert it back to Wii U
Now launch Haxchi [By Holding A, you will boot into HBL]/Browserhax/HBLC.
Time to load it!

  • Find nanddumper.elf, tap on it then tap 'Load'
  • Wait couple of seconds
  • You should see following options: SLC <yes>, SLCMTTP <yes>, MLC <no>, OTP <yes>, SEEPROM <yes>
  • If you want to dump MLC then you need 16GB-32GB SDCard for 8GB Wii U's [White], or 64GB SDCard for 32GB Wii U's [Black].
  • Use D-Pad Left-Right to select options
  • Press A after you're done selecting options [I suggest dumping everything when your SDCard is big enough]
  • Wait till it completes [With MLC it takes 1h-2h or even more]
Your dump is correct if your SLC, SLCMTTP is 528mb big.
Store your NAND Dump somewhere safe [On PC]
You're done!
7. ColdBootHaxChi
It's dangerous but it's number one if you want CFW on-boot!
READ EVERYTHING BELOW BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!
CBHC has a guaranteed brick if you will fail to follow simple steps. Please, read everything here.
  • Before installing CBHC, verify that your Haxchi installation works 100% [Launches Homebrew without crashing, launches Haxchi CFW correcty etc.]
  • Disable Standby & Quick Menu
  • Unplug every USB storage device from your Wii U [No excuses]
Never do anything listed in here unless you want your Wii U to become a brick. [Seriously, it will be useless, it will not boot anymore]
  • DON'T TRY TO DELETE OR MOVE CBHC'd DS VC GAME!
  • DON'T REINSTALL DS VC GAME FROM WUP INSTALLER
  • DO NOT DO A SYSTEM FORMAT WHILE CBHC IS INSTALLED, IF CBHC GAME IS DELETED, YOUR Wii U IS DEAD!
  • Do not delete user profile used to purchase/download Brain Age DS VC as it will make your console unbootable

Only install this if you're really tired from booting Haxchi CFW and would like to have patches on-boot.
Understood? Let's proceed!
Did you test your Haxchi game 50 times to see if it works fine? Then let's go!
  • Eject SDCard from your Wii U and insert it back to your PC
  • Visit this page and download "CBHC" FIX94 Github
  • Insert CBHC folder in SDCard://CBHC [It will make your DS VC game "DO NOT TOUCH ME"
  • Insert CBHC folder with .elf in SDCard://wiiu/apps/cbhc
  • Eject SDCard out of your PC
  • Insert SDCard to your Wii U
  • Load Homebrew Launcher from Haxchi
  • Load "CBHC Installer"
  • Select your compatible DS VC game [IT MUST BE LEGIT GAME BOUGHT & DOWNLOADED FROM ESHOP, IT IT'S NOT, YOU'LL BRICK!]
  • Read warning on screen and press A or B if you decided not to install it
  • It will inject into syshax.xml and sysmenu.xml
  • It will kick you back into Wii U Menu
  • Power off your Wii U and on again
Now follow next instructions
If your Wii U remains black screen for a long time [2 minutes] then press Home button. If it shows "-3" or "-5" press Home button.
  • You should now see 6 options [vWii, sysmenu, HBL, Mocha CFW, CFW Booter and Autobooter]
  • Scroll down using D-PAD Up & Down and use D-PAD Left & Right to select "Autoboot: sysmenu"
  • Now scroll up and select sysmenu options
  • You will now see "Autobooting..." message
  • You got kicked into Wii U Menu. Guess what? It's CBHC CFW! You're in CFW now, congratulations!
  • Power off your Wii U and power it on again
  • If you see "Autobooting..." message again then it means CBHC works correctly
  • Put CBHC DS VC Game in last page in Wii U Menu. This will ensure you will not press it by mistake and not get into bootloop
If you ever feel like changing Autoboot options, press Home button on Gamepad.
Congratulations! You installed ColdbootHaxchi! Now you will probably want to install Homebrew Launcher, right?
You don't want to use browserhax do you? Don't worry it's your last time actually using it.
  • Eject SDCard from Wii U and insert it to PC
  • Download Homebrew Launcher Channel Version 2.1 from here Dimok's Github
  • Open that archive and drag that 'HomeBrew Launcher' folder into SDCard://install
  • Eject SDCard and insert it back into Wii U
  • Open up Internet Browser and type 'loadiine.ovh' [or 'wiiubru.com/x']
  • Load Homebrew Launcher from there
  • Now load Wup Installer Y Mod/GX2
  • Select 'HomeBrew Launcher' folder and press A/Press Install then select 'NAND'
  • After it's done, exit to Wii U menu by tapping Home button
Do you see Homebrew Launcher Channel from your Wii U menu? Now you will use this in order to access Homebrew Launcher!

8. Spoofing Wii U version to access eShop and online
So you want to buy Haxchi compatible DS VC game but can't access your eShop due to DNS Blocking? Don't worry, we have a fix for you.

Downloading a NNUPatcher game
[Wii U] Use WiiUBrU Appstore to downloTRad NNUPatcher [/Tools/ category]
  1. [PC] Eject SDCard out of Wii U and Insert it to your PC. Visit wiiubru.com/appstore and download NNUPatcher.
  2. [PC] Insert NNUPatcher folder into SDCard://wiiu/apps
  3. [PC] Eject your SDCard safely and put it back to your PC
  4. [PC] Run Browserhax
  5. [Wii U] Exit to HBL
Now we will be spoofing it:
You're in HBL, Tap on NNUPatcher and tap on Load. You will be kicked back to Wii U menu. Now access eShop and download your Haxchi'd game

Workarounds [If it doesn't want to download]
1. Unplug your Wii U completely for 5 minutes then plug it back in. Power it on and System update should be goen and DS VC game will start downloading

That's all, you're done!

9. Unbrick your Wii U
Something didn't go as planned? You forgot to read your thing and screwed up your Wii U? Worry not, @Kafluke has you covered with his brand new Unbrick Guide! It requires a NAND Backup (OTP, SLC, MLC)

[Extra] Homebrew Fun Zone (WIP)
This section is dedicated to fun homebrew which in most cases, are very useful!

Last update: 27/04/2017 [Day/Month/Year]
This guide will be updated if a new version of homebrew is created.

This mainly will include:

  • Using non-Nintendo controllers with Wii U, thanks to HIDtoVPAD [non-HID to HID controllers] +Needs polish
  • Playing 'retro' in other words, using RetroArch -Kinda done
  • Ability to run NES Remix Pack on non-US consoles, forcing game language, using Spiik! -WIP
  • Make your Wii U Gamepad your PC controller using USendMii -WIP

HIDtoVPAD - Recent Nightlies
HIDtoVPAD Network Client - Newest Java, Stable Network Client, Nightly Network Client for Nightly builds, Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2015
Code:
Insert 'HIDtoVPAD' folder to wiiu/apps/hidtovpad
Insert 'controller' folder to wiiu/
Extract HIDtoVPAD Network Client and place it somewhere
Install Java. If Java fails to install, use other PC.
Install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for VS15
RetroArch - WiiUBrU Appstore
Code:
Insert to wiiu/apps/
Spiik - WiiUBrU Appstore
Code:
Insert to wiiu/apps/spiik
USendMii [Windows x86/x64-bit, Mac OS X x86-bit] - WiiUBrew page
USendMii Client [Wii U] - USendMii recent releases

Hate using Wii U Gamepad all the time you want to play games? Worry not, thanks to Maschell you can use any HID-based controller on your Wii U! [Even steering wheel]
How it works? Well it spoofs your controller connected via USB/Network as Wii U Pro Controller or Wii U Gamepad. That's all, really.

If you downloaded HIDToVPAD from Homebrew list above, then you're good to go.
We will cover Keyboard mapping, Mouse mapping, Network Client and HIDtoVPAD itself.
Now, select what you want to use....
This method requires you to connect to your Wii U from HIDtoVPAD Network Client. I suggest using your main PC for this, if it's connected via Ethernet cable. Why? You don't want to experience input lags! You also need config files for non-HID controller you want to use in SDCard://wiiu/controller
  1. Start HIDtoVPAD on your Wii U
  2. Start HIDtoVPAD on your PC
  3. Plug in/Connect your controller via USB/Bluetooth to your PC
  4. Type in IP Address in upper right corner of your TV screen/Wii U Gamepad into HIDtoVPAD Network Client
  5. Press Connect
  6. If your controller appears in list, simply select your desired controller spoof method and press A
  7. If it doesn't, verify that you have config.ini file on your SDCard. If yes, install C++ Redistributiatable Packages.
  8. If it still doesn't work, verify that you have correct drivers for your desired controller.
  9. Press Start [+] button to apply patches
You're done.
This method doesn't require PC capable of running Java. Everything is done on Wii U. The only downside is that you can't connect your controller via Bluetooth, you have to strictly sit on your chair/bed so it doesn't get accidentally unplugged.
  1. Start HIDtovPAD on your Wii U
  2. Plug in your desired HID controller
  3. Tap on your desired spoof method then press A
  4. Press PS button on Playstation controllers, press any key for any other controller
  5. Press Start [+] button to apply patches
Now you probably want to remap your controlers. Well, Maschell has you covered because he made that since HIDtoVPAD was released and i'm too lazy to write.
You can see here, in Maschell's thread
And that's all for HIDtoVPAD. Some games might be unsupported, not every game will work with it.
I really recommend using keyboard for Taiko no Tatsujin tho. It's really fun.
Want to revisit some classics? Sonic, Mario, Pokemon? You can do that with RetroArch. We will configure RetroArch so it will not throw DSI expection when you're trying to save or load another rom which requires BIOS file.
You don't want a total mess with your ROM list, right?
  • Eject SDCard from Wii U and insert it to your PC
  • Head to root of SDCard [SDCard://]
  • Create a folder named 'retroarch' (Remove 's)
  • Head inside that folder, create another named 'roms'
  • Open that 'roms' folder [SDCard://retroarch/roms]
  • Create each folder for each system you want to emulate ex. Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Drop your ROMs to corresponding folder ex. Sega Saturn games to 'Sega Saturn' folder. If game has BIOS files, hang on to them, don't copy them to 'roms' folder.
After you're done, Eject SDCard out and insert it to your Wii U
Launch Homebrew Launcher with your desired method [Browserhax/Haxchi/HBLC]
Find desired RetroArch emulater [mGBA etc.] and tap on it then tap Load
Wait till it finishes. [You should see 'Welcome to RetroArch!' screen]
Launch your desired ROM suitable for this emulator [mGBA will only run Gameboy x games]
You have BIOS files? Quit RetroArch and HBL and insert SDCard to PC
  • Open SDCard://retroarch
  • New folders were created. Head to /retroarch/media/system [or find system folder]
  • Create folder in retroarch/media/system which has the same name as your emulator [ex. mgba_retroarch]
  • Drop every BIOS file for your emulator there. Keep in mind: Every emulator will look into folders corresponding to their names. If MAME doesn't find BIOS files, it's going to drop DSI expection. [If you inserted MAME bios files to another folder, then you need to move it to ex. mame2003x folder]
Bam, you setup everything!

This guide is really good.
I suggest you to put that some users might redownload the DS VC game from eShop if haxchi install gives problems, and that they have to legitimately own (have it bought from eShop) a DS VC game (for ColdBoot Haxchi) or else they'll brick

Why not? Just curious.
wiiu.guide isn't very user friendly and doesn't explain issues with redNAND and why to use it.

Short and sweet. Just link up the relevant files and you got a great guide :)

In this guide, i want you to turn off redNAND option! It's only good for developers and shouldn't be used to play games! Use DPAD to change options.
Why do you say RedNAND shouldn't be used for playing games? I've been using RedNAND in my setup, and am pretty happy with it.

The extra protection RedNAND offers may be unnecessary, but if you have a spare SD card laying around... I don't see any reason to not use it.

Come back when your RedNAND corrupts and let us know how you feel about it then.

BTW, notice I said "when" not "if".

Is that something that happens often? I've never seen any reports of that happening.

Also, if it does corrupt, it's easy enough to just make another RedNAND, right?

I'd rather have something go wrong in RedNAND than in SysNAND...

Simply booting or quitting Rednand has a chance of bricking it from what i heard.

That happens so often that i got tired of those "MYMOCHA CFW redNAND ISN'T BOOTING UP" type of threads.
Nothing goes wrong in sysNAND, only in redNAND. Also redNAND corrupts faster with games installed.

Thanks for the responses. I figure I'll keep using RedNAND until it corrupts on me, then I may switch to SysNAND.

I won't lose anything by doing that, since my NANDs are linked, and all games/updates/DLC are stored on the hard drive, right?

Most of these threads are written like that.
It's not my fault that they confuse a simple thing :/

Dump your redNAND .tiks if you want redNAND games to work on your sysNAND.
[Then you need to insert them using FTPiiU everywhere.]

Backup your data, like saves, often, and I guess you won't have a problem when it decides to corrupt on you.
