You need to scan the normal Link (smash one) amiibo, it always spawns first scan but it gets very unlikely to spawn all the next scans.

Little tip: don't fuck up like I did and spawn epona too far from a stable,

That's exactly what I did lol. Actually, I first spawned Epona before even knowing how horses worked in the game, and that you needed to register in a stable. So I lost her, and was bummed to find out that she's gone for good. Then somebody said that you CAN spawn her again at random, but you have to keep retrying. So.... I was on a beach surrounded by cliffs and water, and for some dumb reason I decided to try and respawn her and it worked!! However, I couldn't get to a stable and was basically stuck riding her around on a beach like a dumbass

You don't have to. Just use the android app "Tagmo" (which is free) to flash already extracted amiibo bin data to blank 215 ntag cards/discs. They're only like $1 each (plus normal shipping) from most sites that sell them. You can even flash the "unreleased" Majoras Mask and Skyward Sword Link Amiibo data to them to unlock those exclusive items.

Alot more reasonable for $1 instead of $90 Sheik prices on ebay. lol

In the meantime you can check your local Gamestop and see if they have a Datel Actionreplay Powersaves device with the Powertag. It will cost a small fortune but you will then have a rewritable powertag to use right away.

Got it to work after messing up and having 3 hearts the first time!

So here's what I did:
1. I messed up and ended up w 3 hearts so to correct that, I went to amiibo data management in the WiiU system menu, erased all the data off the wolf amiibo.

2. Started up TPHD and chose controller type and went to the save file load screen, clicked once on the game save I wanted to use, (it has NO visits to the cave of shadows, this is important!) and then before clicking again to start the game, I moved the amiibo over the sensor box, and it asked me if I wanted to assign quick load data to the amiibo. Said "yes" to it and it confirmed save data saved to amiibo.

3. Start up BOTW, summon wolf link and 20 heart profit! (until ninty decides to patch this out later I bet)

4. Now to spam saves until I get the fierce deity sword w the MMask amiibo. ;-)

install the software it came with, update the device
DO NOT UNPLUG THE DEVICE DURING FIRMWARE UPDATE!

then install and use namiio software, it's way better.

Yeah, so I just simply downloaded the software from the website for the PS/PT. Used that to write the amiibo data on the mac. Worked really easy. Thanks for the help.

so i was keeping it mint unopened from my twilight princess wii u purchase, but got botw and cracked, cuz enemies are tough and wolf link is a big help. Spawned him up and was hoping for some help with gangbanging enemies. Got one hit killed with an arrow, spawn back, no more wolf link! What a rip! I don't think he should disappear just cuz I die, he wasn't dead. Further, now I have to wait a day to respawn him! I got cheated!

If you die you can respawn him, if you can't respawn him that means he died.
