yea i tried that several times, and i tried several different versions of filezilla
Ah, bummer. Not sure I can help you any further then. Sorry.

hey i appreciate this tutorial, but when i get to the part where im trying to upload the folders, filezilla just keeps saying "critical file transfer error" and ive loaded mocha+fshax, so i should be able to write to the nand right? i have the game on my nand, not usb.
Did any of the files manage to transfer or do you get an error with all of them?
It might be worth trying WinSCP, just in case.

It's a different FTP client. It might be worth trying another one. Just to check: When you use Mocha+FSHax it's booting you back to system menu and you've left the settings as default, right?

Anyone else has a problem fetching the files from NUS? I tried both the GUI, cli and downloaded both EU and JP versions of the game, but I'm not getting close to the expected 9.4 GB.
yMby7jA.jpg
Strangely enough the eu version only contains USen Voice and it only dowloads
Code:
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild [ALZP01] (2.25 GB)
+-- updates
    +---v33
unlike the JP version which at least has the mandatory 3 folders
Code:
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild [ALZJ01] (6.43 GB)
|--code
|--content
+-- updates
    +---v32

Why are you trying to get all the files? You only need the voice ones.
If you're getting the whole game then WiiU USB Helper is much easier to use.

Can someone tell me what is needed to make the "perfect" Japanese undub? I simply just copied the Japanese audio files over my American ones, and it's been working fine so far. But, I keep on hearing reports of things not working, or even crashing, for this particular undub in this thread.

I would like to get a comprehensive list going if we can! and Perhaps Falco would want to put this in his OP? I feel as it's the most common "undub" people here are trying to create.

Thanks for any responses!

Seconding this. A guide specifically for setting up Japanese undub for people who have never done any Wii U hacking would be very useful. But I don't think all the problems have been solved yet. Hopefully someone is working on fixing them. It's likely that some kind of patch is needed, since apparently some of the voice clips may be located in other folders, inside archive files that can't simply be replaced or easily edited.

First off I wanna say thanks to everyone who contributed to this, especially @speckxz for all the testing and feedback. I followed your video-guide and replaced the german voice files. As you had mentioned i was also only able to transfer 929 of the 930 jap files.

I haven't done much playing since my undub so i can't give much feedback. As i take it from the thread some voices should still be muted (Impa outside of cutscenes?) after using ftpiiu-method, but that's the only probleme right? Or has anyone actually confirmed the game crashing on them? And what does copying back the original .bars files actually do?

Is there any way to check on the missing voices if you aren't currently having some cutscene coming up?

Thanks again

Works for me on NAND. Right now I'm comparing some files to try to find the rest of the files but I think they are really in some weird archives.

you were able to overwrite the botw audio files on the nand???

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

when I try to replace them it just gives a file transfer error in Filezilla. Can you please describe to me exactly how you are doing this? and what ftp client are you using? etc I cant figure out how to overwrite the files

Got it to work using filezilla with ftpiiu everywhere launched in patched sysnand with mocha + fshax through the browser exploit.

I followed the guide like OP suggested (non digital copy tut)
...
1. First you must download the full game of the Zelda Breath of the Wild version that you want to use as a base (this version must have the subs you want).
...

but I tried WiiU USB Helper now and it worked like a charm, thx. Still wonder why JNUSTool downloaded the (EU) patch instead of the game though.

Yeah, the GUI of the original JNUSTool only let's you download updates for some reason. I think it's because of the time before sigpatched when we could only install updates with WUPinstaller. Using the command line like I recommend works fine though.

Just don't replace the .bars files and there won't be any issue with NPC dialogue sounds not playing during gameplay. We found out that it's better to leave the original ones from your dub in place. They kinda work as pointers for starting dialogue at the right times and that messes up if you change them to the Japanese ones. It doesn't seem to affect cutscenes though.

The undub we have at the moment is almost perfect, it's just the champion powers voiceover that we haven't changed. I've had a good look for the files that need editing, but they're likely in archive format and therefore hard to find and it may not be possible to unpack/repack them.

As for glitches: Those were mostly teething problems while we were getting everything set up. We found out that replacing the .bars files made some voices for NPCs during gameplay break. We've decided that overwriting the .bars files is therefore a bad idea and have done some testing since. Everything seems fine now.

Can you access the SD via FTPiiU and filezilla? If yes (and only the SD can be accessed) then it may be that Mocha+FShax isn't working correctly for you for some reason.
Can you access anything other than the SD?
